  1. Thanks for the quick reply.I am trying to clarify something. On siam legals website it says you can.I am just confused. This is why i am posting on here.

    Thanks

It is possible with an Extension based on Retirement to use a combination of income and bank account, but as Lopburi3 said for Marriage it is either Income or Bank Account and no combination of the 2.

  2. Been there done that. Didn't work out. System abuse via cliques getting together and ganging up on someone, grudges held, member just not liking another member and going after them with Don't Likes, etc. Takes a lot more to get a member to Like someone than to Dislike on Thaivisa. biggrin.png

I think all posts made by a TV mod would get a dislike (except that one) biggrin.png

  3. First of all, nice to hear about your newborn !! Congrats !!

If you want to register your baby's birth at your embassy, you need a document which has been legalized at the Thai Min. of Foreign Affairs.

So I would go for option A.

And my guess the MFA is not about registering but just legalizing the document (but I could be wrong)

  4. What is your wife died in Thailand and new property what would happen to the property? Anybody at the answer

You better ask this question again here (http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/forum/59-real-estate-housing-house-and-land-ownership/)

It all of course depends who is the owner and if the foreigner has a usufruct or a lease. So better ask your question again in the subforum above !

  5. Just a thought as they were in the company of a Thai lady when caught, could she be caned too, if the Judge had wanted it as part of the sentence?

Or is the cane just for males.

    BW

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caning_in_Malaysia#Exemptions

    Exemptions

Malaysian law excludes the following groups from judicial caning:

    • Women
    • Men aged 50 and above (except when convicted of rape);
    • Any person below the age of 10
    • Any person deemed unfit for caning by a medical officer
    • The insane

Boys aged 10 to 18 may be sentenced up to ten strokes with a light cane

  6. Anyone know if they give the three strokes at once or weeks apart etc?

This is the procedure in Singapore, but likely will be the same in Brunei

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caning_in_Singapore#Administration_procedure

An inmate sentenced to caning is not told when he will be caned,

being notified only on the day his sentence is to be carried out. He is ordered to strip naked; the prison doctor then examines him

to check whether he is medically fit for caning, by measuring his blood

pressure and other physical conditions. If the doctor gives the green

light, the inmate then receives his caning, but if he is certified unfit

for punishment, he is sent back to the court for his prison term to be

increased instead. A prison officer confirms with him the number of

    strokes he is to receive.

The inmate is then led to the A-shaped frame (called a "caning

trestle") and his wrists and ankles secured tightly to the frame by

strong leather straps in such a way that he assumes a bent-over position on the frame at an angle of close to 90° at the hip.

Protective padding is placed on his lower back to protect the

vulnerable kidney and lower spine area from any strokes that land

    off-target.

The punishment is administered on the offender's bare buttocks.

The caning officer takes up position beside the frame and delivers the

number of strokes specified in the sentence, at intervals of 10 to 15

    seconds.

He is required to put his full force into each stroke.

The strokes are administered all in one caning session,

unless the medical officer certifies that the inmate cannot receive any

more strokes because of his condition, in which case the rest of the

strokes are converted to additional prison time.

  7. Just looked into the French embassy, Bangkok, TLS websites. They seem to provide for EU family members not paying the fee and submitting documents mainly relating to their relationship to an EU citizen, rather than reasons to return to Thailand, but what seems to be missing is an accelerated visa procedure and ability to apply direct to the embassy without an appointment. They still talk about applying online for an appointment with TLS.

Also they list birth certificate as required by family members of EU citizens which I have never been asked for by other EU embassies even for a non-family member. Anyone had experience of this?

    <snip>

Aren't the requirements for birth certificates only there when a minor applies ?? That would be the case when applying in other European Nations.

  8. SCB (Siam Commercial Bank) and BKK (Bangkok Bank) did it for me, but when they called again (when I had a incoming transfer) I just asked them to just send it to my account without calling again.

But I am not sure if they will call in all cases. (Amounts send where in the range of 5000 - 15.000 EURO)

If this is such a problem, why don't just wait and when exchange rate is what you expect and then send it ??

  9. Not a resident of Chang Mai, but my wife applied for a card in Buriram and she got it without any paperwork. (only copy ID card)

I think the difference when you apply as a Business you will get a detailed printout (A4) with VAT etc etc but as a non-Business you just get a BIG C style receipt.

    Edit: // Added PS

PS: Just re-read your OP, sorry don't know anything about applying as a foreigner. (But my guess it's difficult as with everything else wink.png )

  10. The one I described near Soi Siam CC has it's own well. The water is very clean (to the naked eye) and doesn't at all smell.

(For people who live in the City and need clean water, the one (a bit from the Corner ) of Third Road and Soi 9 (near Wat Nong Ao) http://goo.gl/maps/pAsqD

has it's own well and that water is also oke. However because it is in the City it's more expensive at 180-200 THB.

  11. ^ Better come prepared and get a new and crispy KR 2, they only costs 20 THB or so.

If they (change their mind there and then and) ask for it and you don't have it, it will take you another couple of hours.

I always take more documents with me then they ask for anyway.

    Edit :// Added link

Here a link to the post which describes which documents I needed last year

  12. Thanks for the replies on the costing.

After the septic tank pricing fiasco, where they wanted 6 times the normal amount, I like to have an idea of how much I'd expect to pay, especially when I've not used a service like this one before.

I'd have got the g/f to ask but her grandfather died and I've sent her home to help take care of things up there.

Now I'll go find out who supplies the water smile.png

I don't know where you live but there is a good one with clean water approx here.

Soi 16, Soi Siam CC near Wannasin Market. (approx 150 THB)
