Surely a typo? How can a wallet cost that much, maybe 60,000THB?
Saw a black one on Hermes's website for $6,500 (215,800 baht)

The BKK Bank NY ACH transfer method is on HOLD at present, and not accepting any new U.S. banking links. So no one should be relying on that for the future. (Though for right now, people with existing banking links can continue using it, perhaps for the next few months).
However, the method of having one's SS checks direct deposited into BKK Bank via their New York branch is still fine and should be unaffected by the likely coming end to their domestic ACH transfer method. BKKB is looking for some solution to replace the current domestic ACH method that's being phased out, but it's not clear at present what that will be or if they'll be able to find a replacement method.
Bad news but thank you for the heads up. It's a great system that I and other Americans depend on.

We have schwab too and do just as you say and we are fine. Love the flexibility.
Keep your Schwab accounts and complete and sign an ACH transfer authorization form with them. Transferring funds should be easy using Bangkok Banks New York branch. Always transfer funds to Thailand in U.S. currency.

Congrats on your marriage. My experience a few years ago was similar to yours although we were able to pickup the MFA certified papers the next day and they weren't limiting the queue numbers at Bang Rak. The folder they sell you is quite nice and worth buying IMO. I had a friend that registered his marriage about the same time at another Amphur, naturally they found all kinds of issues with their documents. He had to pay 6,000 baht to clear it up. Definitely recommend Amphur Bang Rak if you need to register a marriage.

There's a shop on 106 just off Mahidol Road (to the north) that's full of interesting old crap- you'll see a load of old furniture and kitchen alliances in front, but the inside is crammed to the rafters with various doodads. No idea of the name, but it's easy to spot.

Which amphoe (many in Bangkok - I tried several and failed) and what year was this?
We registered our marriage at amphoe Bangrak since we had to pick up our documents from the MFA in Bangkok. We live in Chiang Mai. It was a pleasant experience, no extra money involved and the marriage certificate came in a special hardcover folder.

Interesting, didn't realize this. Does the original State licence clearly indicate that the licence permits operation of a motorcycle in that State? What happens when one rides into other States? And more applicably, does a US IDP clearly define if a motorcycle is included or does it 'refer back' to the State licence?
(The reality is that the police are going to dig for some infringement to justify their fines!)
All states require that you pass tests to be permitted to operate a motorcycle. Most state's DL will indicate that you are permitted to drive a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle on one license. Usually indicated by and "M". The DL is good for all states. Trying to convince Thai authorities that my DL is also a motorcycle license is a different matter.

The only decent / very good tomatoes I have found in Chiang Mai,on a regular basis
are sold in RimPing, under the "Eat me", or it could be "Buy me" brand,
they are grown under cover by some Dutch folk, outside Chiang mai.
They have them in packs of 6-8 or some on trusses, and some loose so you
can choose yourself, they look like tomatoes, smell like tomatoes and taste
like real tomatoes, most of the other tomatoes for sale in CNX are field grown,
and have thick skins, and are devoid of taste.once my wife purchased some
really lovely Roma type tomatoes in the market, I sent her back to buy another
2 Kg, sold out, and never seen again.
regards worgeordie
They're called "Take me Home" tomatoes. They are good if you're willing to pay a little extra.

Any plans/timelines for when 121 will be all four lanes?
That should be a higher priority.

For anyone interested, I contacted the Thai embassy in Singapore. You can now file your non-O online and attach copies of the relevant paperwork. Then when they have been reviewed (takes a day or so), all you need is to show up at the embassy in the morning, hand in your paperwork plus passport, then pick it up the next day.
Flights to Singapore are costly though, and I had an issue with SilkAir's website (crashed while I was making payment), so still waiting for the airline to resolve. Wished the process here is as simple as the embassy over there though.
Matt
Have you tried Scoot Airlines? Usually cheaper than SilkAir.

I did managed to get a work permit on a retirement extension several years ago in Bangkok. It was for being a director for my company. When I moved the company to Chiang Mai, the labor office there told me no way and I had to change my extension status to marriage.

Had a double hernia done using laparoscopic surgery at CM Ram. Cost about 80,000 baht including a night at the hospital. Scaring is minimal and the soreness and bruising takes a few weeks to improve. One side failed so I had it repaired by open surgery by another doctor at CM Ram who I liked better, Dr. Ekachai. He has extensive experience. Cost 50,000 baht including one night stay that was paid by my insurance. Was quoted 80,000 baht for the open surgery at BKK hospital Chiang Mai, ouch! The wound was quite painful the first couple of weeks but you can get around after several days.

From the pinned list:
Plastic Surgeon Dr. Somboon Chaisrisawadisuk is practicing at Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai. I recommend General Surgeon Dr. Ekacai Paiboonworachat at CM Ram, had a good experience with him. For Dermatology,
Dr. Chatbongkoch Khemacheewakul at the new CM Ram Skin Clinic. Neurologist Dr. Dollaporn Yuvasilp at BKK-CM Hospital, very good communication.

If I recall the translation of the official instructions says that you can apply in your "country of residence". So hopefully the situation will change at some time.
I don't know of anyone who has been successful in applying for this visa yet - I tried in my home country and failed on the 3M not being in a bank for more than 1 year (the instructions are not crystal clear on that).
From the link posted by Ubonjoe: "4. A copy of bank statement (from Thailand financial institutes only) and a letter of guarantee from the bank with bank’s contact information showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 3 Million Bahts, Please note that such minimum amount must be maintained at least 1 year after receiving the visa-"
Seems like there's no seasoning requirement before you apply for the visa.

I haven't had much luck on receiving mail from overseas unless it's sent using some kind of tracking.

There's Panthip Plaza in the night bazaar area, the computer section has shrunk to about 1 floor. There is also Icon square on the North section of the moat. Two malls there, the mall under the parking structure has a selection of vendors that sell gaming rigs and accessories.

Bangkok bank limits the amount per transaction for purchases and it's much lower that if I were to withdraw funds from an ATM. Possibly the same thing is happening with you at Krung Thai bank.

Sounds like a case of abandonment from your son's mother, I'll assume that you were never married to her. Any plans on marrying your GF? Makes sense that a court be more willing to grant adoption to a father's wife that his GF.

You can try Dr Kittiwan Psychiatric clinic.
