  1. it is a marriage VISA. I used to apply a new multiple re-entry permit when I get the new VISA extension, keep it for that particular year, safe and done. for some years, I left the country with the expiring VISA extension and come back using the new one, that had no problem with the VISA extension. since no travel this year I have no re-entry permit with me. can I leave the country without a re-entry permit (end Jan), and come back using the NEW VISA extension and the new re-entry permit (effective Feb 1) ? would the re-entry permit need to be "paired in-and-out", or it is really the "re-entry" ? cheers
  2. hi there I will renew my VISA extension in Jan, and it will be effective on Feb 1. I will travel from the last week Jan to the first week Feb. Currently; I don't have a re-entry permit. WONDER - (scenario 1) do I need a single re-entry permit to leave the country and return with a new re-entry permit effective Feb 1? OR, (scenario 2) I just leave the country with no re-entry permit (for the current expiring VISA extension) but come back using a 'fresh' re-entry permit effective Feb 1 ? your ideas are welcome ! cheers and Happy New Year !
  3. DON'T GO TO Immigration at MTT !! last working day on Apr 12. after Songkran starting on Apr 18, the office will be relocated to TWO locations : i) Notification of residence for foreigner (TM30 at counter A) and 90-days Reporting (TM47 at counter B) will be returned to the Immigration office at Chaengwattana ii) Short Term VISA and Special VISA (counter K), will be moved to a new office at IT Square Laksi perhaps, Apr 18 may not be the best day heading to their new offices !
  4. thanks lopburi my VISA extension expires at mid Mar, and I used to go to CW in mid Feb. this year due to covid-19, not sure if CW still limits application 3 days ahead the due date. I am in Bangkhen, not a problem going to CW just for the transfer of stamps. if there is not TIME LIMIT, then I could go this week or next week, saba saba ! YES, there is a form for transfer stamp but it is not coded as T.M.# on the Bangkok Immigration there are TWO similar forms, so confused ! https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?page_id=3202 1486548856727.doc Request that the stamp be moved to a new passport. 1486548719379.doc Request to transfer the stamp to a new passport. anyway, print it out and fill it up before heading to CW. cheers
  5. hi there my old passport expires in March and last week (Jan 18) I already got a new passport from my embassy. what next ? went through the Bangkok Immigration site but not much information. my homework found following. any advice ? QUESTIONS : 1. how soon I have to go to CW after old passport cut, new passport issued ? 2. any online booking, or walk-in ? 3. form : transfer stamp to new passport form, download from here 1486548719379.doc OR 1486548856727.doc 4. supporting documents : 4.1 Transfer stamp to new passport form (แบบฟอร์มยื่นเรื่องเปลี่ยนเล่ม) 4.2 Copy of certificate from embassy (สำเนารับรองจากสถานทูต) - - - 4.3 Copy of new passport with your photo (สำเนาหนังสือเดินทางเล่มใหม่ที่มีรูปถ่าย) 4.4 Copy of former passport with your photo (สำเนาหนังสือเดินทางเล่มเก่าที่มีรูปถ่าย) 4.5 Copy of ALL visa stamp in your passport (สำเนาหน้าหนังสือเดินทางที่มีวีซ่า) 4.6 Copy of ALL extend visa in your passport (สำเนาตราประทับการอนุญาตให้อยู่ต่อครั้งสุดท้าย) - - - 4.7 Copy of last arrival stamp in your passport (สำเนาตราเดินทางเข้าครั้งสุดท้าย) 4.8 Copy of TM Card (สำเนา TM การ์ด) 5. not mentioned ? 5.1 passport photo ? 5.2 processing fee ? 5.3 do I need to update other Thai authorities ? cheers
  6. @BritTim and @ubonjoe THANKS !! I get the concept, it is using the 60-days extension (visiting wife) as a kind of time bridge that connects the existing permission to stay (expire early March) and the application of the new permission of stay (as soon when I come back). sounds all doable, the only effort is applying the 60-days extension and the single re-entry permit. let me drill down all the details and start preparing it. feel a lot more comfortable ! MANY THANKS, and stay healthy, stay happy !
  7. thanks Ubonjoe, it looks a workable solution ! I never do this before, what should I do when and how : - before leaving Thailand, get an one-time re-entry permit on the existing year-on-year VISA - before leaving Thailand, apply for a 60-day VISA extension visiting wife, (and get an re-entry permit on it) ? - during I am away, my existing year-on-year VISA extension will be expired at the due date - upon returning, I use the new 60-day VISA extension visiting wife to enter the country - upon returning, although I entitled for a 30-day VISA free, do not use it - after returning, within 30 days (60-30 days consideration), apply the new extension on the last year-on-year VISA - when the extension of the year-on-year VISA is valid, I stay in Thailand with the new extension, till the new due day - I don't need to leaving the country for activating the new extension of the year-on-year VISA yeah, definitely it is my first time doing it ! thanks !
  8. hi there my next VISA extension (marriage) on early March. and mid Feb I return to my home country for renewing my passport then come back to Bangkok for the VISA extension. I foresee that I may not able to meet the due date on applying the VISA extension. any grace period on this date ? or any official way that I could apply a 2-weeks postponement ? thanks in advance !
  9. for IoTs, I keep them all local, as they are very vulnerable in terms of security. I don't have a solution yet. for data, my most current data that need to be shared or be collaborated, all on OneDrive. then my WD MyCloud NAS comes with a relay service that could be accessed via web or via app. they are personal data and a photo library, usually I only switch on the cloud access when need. yeah, the fixed IP service is not that budget friendly in Thailand. would Dynamic DNS a solution for your application ?
  10. PROBLEM SOLVED !! don't blame True Gigatex modem / router ! it has no problem. don't blame double DHCP , double DNS ! it is manageable. at the end of the line, the Linksys RE6500 wired extender (bridge mode) is hidden in the cable trunk of the ground floor. while configuration updates and power cycles, it out of sync and cause conflict. now be fixed and the network back on and running hard ! THANKS EVERYONE who provides information and supports the troubleshooting !!
  11. you are a lucky one ???? within this past 12 months, True replaced their fibre modem / routers 3 times, in different area of failures. the concept is right - keep the ISP equipment as universal as neutral, as a single function of connecting to ISP (WAN IP, WAN gateway, WAN DNS), then keep the LAN side configurations behind on own equipment (DHCP, SWITCH, WLAN, AP) and customised them per application. with LAN configurations on own equipment, even ISP modem / router is sick, I still can reach my NAS, connect to smart home devices and IoTs. 3 years ago this Linksys router performed exactly the same functions (own DHCP own wifi behind the ISP modem). I switched it off since True comes with big powerful modem / router, for the sake of better wifi coverage. I expect this is a plug and play as it was 3 years ago, nevertheless this exercise today it seems overly complicated and over engineering as some of you suggested. this is never the intention.
  12. could you please explain these two points in a bit more details ! I logged a service request to True and they will show up on Tuesday afternoon. so I still have time to refresh the networking concepts.
  13. hours ago I start power cycle the DNS on the Linksys to 203.144.207.29. STRANGE it connects for a minutes plus, then internet gone with no error message. but now even with the power cycles, no internet, no default gateway, no DHCP, no DNS on the Linksys ?
  14. totally agree with you, keep it simple is the principle ???? I am just going through the mess and complexity, and find simplicity. perhaps, my end point is clear - I want to have a network that is NOT REPLY on True's whatever modem / router (which is very faulty recently). if I put the one DHCP server back to the True's equipment, then I won't reach this goal. or, would my concept totally inapplicable ? please share !
