  1. I am planning the annual company trip and think about an active weekend in the Golden Triangle region with rafting and / or jungle trekking (all moderate, no hard core), some bbq and just for fun and team building. We are 12 people mostly Thai's. Company trip supposed to happen 10. - 12. December and I guess we will organize the flights from BKK and back by ourselves.

Does anybody has a recommendation for a tour operator, who can make us a good package deal with accommondation and activity program?

    Would appreciate very much, thx.

  3. BTS Saphan Kwai in the street Pradipat (intersection Phahonyothin / Pratipat - Intamala) there are several small independent and legal places to change money. As deeper you go into the big street from the inter section as slightly better the rates are getting. If you have to change 500EURO+ it is worth to go...

I have changed there many times, all official, safe and perfect, do not worry!

    Cheers,

    c

  4. TREK and KLEIN at Sarasin Rd, close to Lumpini Park, great service but cheap spare parts (BONTRAGER or so)...

SPECIALIZED, at Rama 4 / soi Sala Daeng 1 (HSBC Bank / U Chu Liang Bld), great bikes, decent prices, good service, BIKES from 20 k upwards, NOT 100,000 THB...

CANNONDALE at Sukhumvit soi 26 almost deep in, almost Rama 4 side), good service, great bikes

MIXED brands at Chitlom opposite Gaysorn Plaza, above McD, 2nd floor in outdoor corner, lead by Italian guy, small shop but nice too...

  5. Dear fellow beer and pork knuckle enthusiasts,

I am wondering where and when this year the few Oktoberfest's are going to be celebrated this year and what is recommended to go?

    Any insights yet?

    Cheers,

    Sven

P.S.: Last years Tawandaeng at Rama 3 sucked, the beer was ok as usual, but the pork knuckles were deep fried (yuck).

  6. Dialling 009 and then your overseas number is more expensive than getting the CAT card (you also dial 009, but using the PIN of the card you bought). At least that's what I have been told. I googled CAT Phonenet and the charges to USA (using the card method) is thb1 per min.

I have been using the CAT card and find that my calls to Australia seem a lot cheaper, than dialling 009 direct. A thb500 card seems to last a few months and I call once a week to Australia.

Call me LAZY, but I do not want to deal with calling cards, I want to safe my numbers in my phone with prefix already and just once in a while rechecking tariffs.

If I want a call fro free, I use SKYPE!

    :)

  7. Thx, but this thread is one year old, and I thought there might be changes by now, but will go with 008 for now...

    :)

    Cheers

I have been using 0050044etc I think 1 baht a minute ( have not been able to check though )

    BT

Look, this is what I am talking about, if you pay 1 THB now, it was 20 THB a year ago, so, where are the current tariffs / charges given?

    Anybody?

  8. For years now, I am using 009 as a cheap prefix for calling abroad. Once it costs 9 THB / minute from home phone or mobile.

Do you know, if this service is still valid and whether there are cheaper / better services in the meantime?

Just wondering, because since a few weeks my AIS budget runs out quickly.

    Thx and Cheers!

  9. There is an University Sports Club at Ding Daeng / Vibhavadi Road (not too far from Sukhumvit) , all sport facilities though are not 100% spick and span, usable for members (everyone can become member for 50 THB) annual fee (no kiddin), they have 3 or 4 Squash courts, haven't played for a while, cause I couldn't find a buddy...

Wanna get the name? PM me...

  11. Canardo, Vescag, looks like we're living in the same area (Soi Mahadlek-1?). Do you know if there's any way to access the area at the moment to come home pick up stuff?

    Take care guys.

sorry for late reply, just took a long extended walk at Siam, Ratchprasong, Petchaburi Rd....

Ratchadamri and Langsuan is still blocked by Military from Mahadlek 2 towards Silom, no way through. Whole area around Siam, Petchaburi is sealed off by Military as well however the streets are crowded by press, thais and police...

    Better wait another day!

  12. I live Ratchadamri and face Chitlom form 22nd floor. Here is all totally silent, frogs and birds to hear. A lot of fire trucks in front of totally burned out Central World / ZEN, can not confirm that BigC Ratchadamri is burning, can not see either, but the firetrucks from CW are not moving at all...

Time for a walk through the neighborhood!

  13. 6.30 h - heavy "new years" fireworks at Ratchaprasong, not only the common rocktes but as well lower colorful sprakling things (sorry for my poor english and gap on words)

6.48h - Just saw 3 RED's trying to open the secured 4 Season garage up with unsuccessful attmpts, at the end they were looking inside, I guess, trying to see if there are cars for taking gas from....

6.50 h - huge black smoke cloud covering the whole city, never have seen any big one like that before here
