thank you.http://www.phuketgaz...rticle9682.html
think Joe is talking about this case. News article is almost 2 years old and construction never ever re-started. Although news story implies the developer agreed to 5 floor limit I heard that that the developer is taking Karon tesibaan to court for withrawing agreed planning permission for 7 floor building. Now we are left with an uncompleted eyesore.

joe, do you know exactly where this was,and who objected.i would like to go and find out who took their case. had the guy in,he seems ok,he is from patong, shrugged of any talk of the law. and just said its his land. i would like to follow this throughWork on the multi-story building in Kata near the temple was halted over a year ago when people complained about it spoiling their view.

thank you once again.
haha,i have googled for 2 hours, where did you find that. i hope that is true,it narrows the piece this indian investor has bought. thank you for taking the time.^
Yup, just Googled and that does seem to be the regulation, though, if it is a three to four storey structure, then three metres from the boundary is necessary.
Here you go. Scroll down to "Housing regulations".

honestly,i thought naively , that 3.2 million baht for 1/2 no one would touch it. bigger fool me.but yes, with hindsight,i should have.
i think the structure itself will make it possible to shake hands through he window. i am shocked,i thought with it being such a small patch of land it would not be used for something like thisA permanent structure must be built at least one metre away from the land boundary.
Sorry, doesn't help you, but, that is the law. I believe that a wall does not come under the classification of a permanent structure.
Be glad it's not a pig farm or tannery.
A one meter building setback is pretty common worldwide, even in a nanny state you would have a hard time protecting your view.
Being such a small piece of land with such a nice view you should have bought or leased it.

we have a guesthouse in khao lak. There is a beautiful view of the mountains behind us which is great for customers. There is a 1/2 rai of land behind me that has just been sold to an investor. today he has informed us he is building a 3 storey block on the site.his boundary is 2 feet behind us. they literally plan to put this building outside our windows.i am not a nimby, but,is there a law on how close and are there any restrictions. does anyone know a lawyer that deals with this sort of issue. thank you.

different storySo it seems that EZ Bribe will come handy after all as it would be dangerous to to drink and drive with huge amount of money.
Just look at that thread, incredible. People are taking it seriously despite the 'SATIRE' at the top of it.
I'm more worried that there had to be written 'SATIRE' on the top of the article. Well, TiT.

thank you,we are a couple of hours from phuket, but coming down to phuket may be an option, this is 5 dutch people in late 50s early 60s,they asked if i could find out,i used to know alll the yachties years ago,but moved away from phi phi and lost touch.they need a captain. thank you.I used latitude 8 before...nice boat..fully insured.....no need for them to provide a captain. I drove the family round the islands myself....you could try strolling into the Chalong yacht club and spreading the word...but a lot of those guys would want to captain their own boats

hi, does anyone know a good, not too expensive yacht charter for 5/6 nights late august, for 5 people. are there any places i can contact. thank you.

my misunderstanding,i live in khao lak, every night there are fishing boat light on the whole horizon, out towards the similans,i lived on phi phi many years, one of the biggest attractions was the black tips, and then divers would come on shore and see all the restaurants selling small ones,it was soul destroying.
only baby white tips, W.T FThanks NJ
Just went to the market today only baby white tips and guitar sharks (shovel nose ray) no hammerhead. Putting the numbers in my phone book now.
attathcing the image to see people can why you posted...
Yes as in ONLY BABY WHITES LIKE EVERY TIME I GO!!!! no hammerheads. I have actively gotten a few hotels to nix their shark fin Chinese New Year promotion and Thailand Tatler not to firggen promote it. Bangkok Post is horrific when it comes to promoting restaurants and Shark fin.
I don't approve. jeez. it was said with sarcasm.
I sent this photo to the local rag and PADI stuck it on their aware site but I sure did not see anyone translating any info into Thai.. If someone gives me some info I will pay to have it translated. I have a good translator in BKK.
Fck.. i didnt know the shovel nose was vulnerable threatened. I do know in over 1000 dives in the Similans I only saw it less then 5 times.
Ok send me an article and I will have it translated. Nice to see you last night to NJ....

you can watch all live sports on vipbox.com football.rugby f1,all american sports ,stuff from all over the world, free.Just looking at the programme guide, it appears it's only being shown on ESPN HD (Channel 136), so you need to find a bar that has True's HD package also.
No, also on Star Sports.
Ah, cable, of course. I seem to recollect there's a problem with selective channel movements from the Thai programme controllers? I've got cable connected to the couple of spare bedrooms in my house, but it only goes on when we know we've got friends coming to stay. For me it's like watching a hotel TV service, lots of channels but.......
No, satellite.

youve got to be KIDDING ,hahahahahah, get it goat kidding hahahahahaahaThere's a guy on Cape Panwa (off the main road to Ao Makham) in the area of the FIFA football facility that slaughters and sells goat. You're likely to find it in the Muslim communities of the east coast, if you can either ask one of the locals or get someone else to ask for you.

pure genius.
thank you, will take a look, though my place is 3 story. thanks againThey also make fire escape rope ladders. Depending on your application, that might be an option. I want to say I have seen them for sale in Thailand. Maybe True Value or Home Pro. They make ones for 2 or 3 stories.
Buy two and tie them together

thanks for the advise,we dont have a big hotel, but if i had a fire downstairs,it would make egress difficult. i have smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers, but for peace of mind and safety i need a escape ladder. cheersThat's a bit of a strange request. Most hotels have the fire-exits locked to prevent runners, so you might find one for sale in unused condition.
A little off topic but I was visiting a friend on the 7th. floor of Bangkok Phuket Hospital on Friday and became confused when leaving his room. Turned right instead of left and pushed the handle of the door marked EXIT. Well all hell broke loose. 140 db. siren, like I mean LOUD, heads appeared from behind every door, security was summoned, what room was I in ?? 5 minutes to explain I wasn't a patient doing a runner, simply a confused visitor in a corridor where everything looks the same.
Next time I go I'll take a ball of string!
Would suggest you contact a reputable building company, if such exists, as fire escapes are generally tailored to the building itself to align with escape doors which may have to be installed as well. Oh and fit a battery backup security alarm as well, to secure against incoming and outgoing as well.
Any good architect should be a source of initial information.
-
hi,does anyone know where i can have a fire escape made,or buy one ready made. or if anyone knows where i can get a second hand one,its for a 3 floor building. thank you in advance.

wrong, pornthip is the one who stuck her neck out many times, against alll authority and corruption..she has had death threats and if she can find out she will. the problem is too many of these youngster will try anything once,a thai picking mushrooms, even the wrong ones ,just to supply a demand is not too far off the mark. phiphi has turned into a giant toilet, anyone going there should be aware and any one who went years ago, would be shocked by what they se now,ask big A or any of the old timer. These things take time. You can't figure this out over night. Dr. Pornthep is a very good doc and will get to the bottom of it, hopefully.
But out of respect to the families, please show some respect on this thread.
They should insist on a foreign autopsy. Pornthip will provide whatever answer protects Thai tourism the best.

a phone call today to gmm grammy to clarify this, the person we spoke to had no knowledge of anyone collecting money or fining bars.
I really don't get you point, you make absolutely not sense as usual, give us your insight to the way the police see it against the cable company and the bar owners, i'm salivating at your response, a know it all that no's nothing, please visit the people you say knew exactly where they stood, 25,000 baht lighter in the pocket, you'd be a welcome customer, how long have you been a bar owner, exactly!!!! never, you cry if they disconnected you UBC for a minute, total nonsense and a unwelcome comment, i find these comments come from the biggest HippocratesWhy didn't they just cough up for a Box???,exactly why didn't they get a box, because they didn't know, no one has ever explain or queried this clause in the bar licencing laws if it really does exist at all, how can you do something if you don't know about it, the bar owners simply had no idea such licensing laws regarding there TV's existed.
Cobblers! The bar owners knew exactly where they stood with regard to cable sports.
The thing is, they didn't have a choice. There simply is no Thai substitute for sport coverage.
If these bars are to survive, they need to show sporting events to draw in the punters.
It means the difference between a bar being a financial disaster and one that will make you a living.
I'm not discussing "the way the police see it".
For sports like rugby, MotoGP and many others which the bar owners need to put on, they have to use channels from Malaysia and South Africa. It is illegal to do so. Simple innit!

Why yes! I'm sure you'll find no problem attracting old neverbeens just itching to grab their moth eaten Les Paul copies and get some chum able to hit a stretched cowhide with a stick or two, together with someone playing along with themselves, alone, on an all singing all dancing 'keyboard', whose collection in music stopped around 1980 and deems everything else 'rubbish'.
Good luck with that .
the o p asked a fair question. Good luck, any more entertainment on the circuit would be great.
