  1. Anyone having problems today - have just tried 6 different banks and no luck. I am using a Nationwide card, have funds in the bank. This is the fourth time in the past 3 months I've had this problem. I've called the helpline number for overseas customers 3 times in the past but always been told the same thing - all is fine this end and no reason why I can't withdraw the cash. Down to 100baht and this is really doing my nut in. I never had this problem when I was using my Nationwide account here a few years ago - also wasn't charged by them or the Thai banks for the privilege of doing so.

I withdrew money from my Nationwide account today using an Aeon Atm at 11.15 am and no problem. This was at Big C,Chiang Mai

  2. Golf Avenue offers lessons. They are located about 2-3 km north of Meechok Plaza on the road to Mae Jo. I think it is highway 1001. Telephone: 053 345 176

If this location isn't good for you, I would go to the nearest golf course and ask them. I suspect many of them offer lessons.

I did some lessons at Golf Avenue with Pro Tommy. He speaks good English and I recommend him. They teach all levels there.

I had a series of golf lessons with Tommy at Golf Avenue and he was really good and helped improve my game. Highly recommended

  3. For Chanote and land related legal services I'd recommend Sumalee Jennapa at 29 Tanin Road, Chuang Puak Tel: 053-410174. She speaks good English.

(Her office is in Tanin Road at the back of Tanin (or Siriwatana) market - on LHS past Anusarnsuthorn School for the Deaf on Hussadhisawee Road, which is the continuation of Boonruangrit as you cross the t/lights near Chiang Mai Ram hospital.)

I agree she is the best and not expensive. Kind and understanding and speaks good English

  4. I reach 65 in March 2012 l have received details of the amount l will receive from DWP about 6 months ago. Do l at this stage need to do anything so l can receive my pension into my Thai bank account on the due date. I have not contacted DWP nor have l received any forms from them to complete. Any advice would be much appreciated

  5. I have had my hotmail contacts list hacked and so has my wife . Changed our passwords in hotmail but now use gmail instead as it seems a lot more secure. My friends have had the same problems and have taken the same action as me.

  6. Open Office more or less the same but FREE

    Trusted Download site:

    http://download.cnet...4-10263109.html

Open Office is great and best of all, it is free. It will do everything you want plus much more.

Does it work with windows 7?. Many thanks

Open Office does work with Win 7. It is so much like Word, that even though I have MS Office and all it's programs, I still prefer to use Open Office. You can save documents in all popular formats and it is totally compatible all MS Products.

Many thanks. Will install it soon. Techno

  7. I have just today done my 90 day report in Chiang Mai. I submitted the TM47 and all the photocpies of the documents they normally want. The officer did not even look at the photocopies but stlll kept them with the form. Perhaps changes are on the way but not yet reached Chiang Mai Immigration. It also looked as if there were a few new officers there but that maybe because the normal people were in another building processing the 100 or so immigrant workers that were there

  8. I have to do my 90 day reporting at Immigration next week and have been reading on TV that in other regions the requirements have changed. In the past l have shown the followingCopy of passport containing the picture and other informationCopy of arrival/ departure cardCopy of extention of stay visaForm TM.47Do Immigration require any othe copies of documents Many thanks

  9. The newly released iphone 4s is now available in CNX at the Sure Life Telecom shop on the 4th floor at Airport Plaza. The shop is opposite the Apple store and they have both 16 and 32GB available at the moment

  10. For those interested in the i phone 4s it is available in Chiang Mai at the Sure Life Telecom Company on the 4th floor at Airport Plaza. The shop is opposite the Apple Store on the 4th Floor. I am told that they are imported from Australia and are available in 16 and 32 GB. Because it has the 5ios l am not sure if it can be fixed to receive free downloads via imstallous

  11. You do all realise that when making bookings there are other carriers available and Thai Airways are NOT your only option right?

Vote with your feet! If the service is poor or not to your satisfaction then use an alternative.

There are plenty of airlines out there who are more then happy to receive your business and it's usually shown in the level of service you receive.

Yes, there are other options, but sadly not at 21:30 / 9:30pm at night!

The last flight of the day to Chiang Mai is now Bangkok Airways at 8:30pm. But this still is too early for my connection in particular, but will doubtless help many. Only a small aircraft though & I went to book this flight in one month's time & it's already fully booked! Thanks to TG no doubt!

I think there is a later Air Asia flight that leaves BKK at 9pm and gets into Chiang Mai at 10.10pm

  12. I would not hesitate to recommend this doctor. He is so professional and offers a range of services far below the usual farang rip off charges from other agencies. He is attentive, knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner. And he also speaks excellent English!

Not only has he been able to diagnose some things as negative that major hospitals have failed to diagnose for me and my wife, but also several other people that I have recommended visit him, have left extremely happy with positive answers as opposed to the big hospitals who diagnosed incorrectly purposely or otherwise ...(one can never be sure) and all for the sake of making money through another humans' misery and pain, whereby they recommended surgery that was not necessary( in the view of those patients that visited him and after many visits to many so called "top class hospitals)

So call him and turn up and judge for yourselves. It only costs a maximum of 200 baht to find out for yourselves.

    Loikroh Clinic

S they say in LOS....UP TO YOU...

I agree with you. He is excellent and used by many ex-pats. He has sorted out a problem with my foot where other Doctors at Hospitals had failed

  13. I was at Immigration on Tuesday renewing my extention of stay. Booked an appointment at the Immigration web site for 10am about a month ago. Arrived at Immigration at 9.45am and was called almost immediatly and everything was completed at 10.15am and left after receiving my passport back with the new visa stamp at 10.30am. A great improvement and congratulations to Chiang Mai immigration for this new concept as it beats queueing and not knowing if you are going to get a ticket on the day. Immigration was packed on Tuesday with standing room only and spme people had been queueing there since 6.30am

  14. Sorry,,, Hotmail down?

Do not know about hotmail down but l had 22 post delivery failures this morning in my hotmail inbox but have not sent any e-mails via hotmail for 6 months. I use gmail now.

  15. Great meat at Pon Yang Kham Chiang Mai, not sure how it's raised but they will, many varieties of cuts (flank, skirt ....) that they will bring out for you to select and show how you want it butchered which you can watch from the windows into clean shop. It's on canal rd right after Huay Keaw Rd (take a left coming from town and u-turn and it will be on your right before the intersection).

Any chance of a map to show hoe to get there?

  16. Sumalee Jennapa seems to have a good reputation in the property buying business.

Don't email her, you'll wait forever for a reply.

Also, she has an ongoing medical condition and tires easily.......seems to buck up if the business involves big money. wink.gif

    Speaks excellent English.

I agree with you as Sumalee is a good lawyer and has many ex-pat clients

  17. Thank you for that guys; I am going to see if they can bring my HP laptop back to life!

A certain HP distributor said it needed a new motherboard.

Call this guy...Nik...he has serviced my PC...laptop and always comes up trumps. His appointments are usually in Thai time but allow 30 minutes and he will appear. ...400 baht per hour or however long it takes, for the same price and yes he does house calls for the same price. Tel: 0891-929761...and yes he speaks English.

Highly recommended as you will see in other forums. Chok Di!

I agree with you that Nik is one of the best around as he does a fantastic job and l would highly recommend him

  18. A couple of weeks ago l posted on the froum that l had purchased a Dell Inspiron 5110 on 2 June 2011. After 1 month the hard drive failed and an engineer came to replace it but he reported that the keyboard was not working either. Another 6 days and he comes back with a new keyboard and guess what the computer is still not working. Spoke to Dell Support in BKK and asked them to give me a new computer under the warranty but they said the engineer wanted to take the laptop back to their workshop and try and fix it which may take up to a further 7 days. Dell Support have said they will give me a new laptop if it cannot be repaired but l expressed my anger as l have not use of my new laptop for over a month now. Why do Dell call it "Support"? after the engineer has visited my home twice and could not fix the problem. I clearly have paid a lot of money for a rogue Dell laptop. Always had Compaq before and no problems in 10 years.
