just did a test drive of the diesel 2wd version. coming from a sedan, I found the engine response quite slow, also due to the turbo lag I guess. have tried in order: fortuner, crv, xv, yeti and finally pjs. went to the dealer on sukhumvit road, after soi 71. they have about 50 available so no wait. all in all a good buy. still undecided though...

just test drove a Yeti. fun little car. a little bare for the price tag. will see if the dealer will come through with a sensible discount.

my main concerns are safety and carrying around my friend Otto (12 year old german shepherd). of course price is important too. if i was still living in Europe my choice would be yeti. now, i don't know.
hope i haven't confused the OP even more!

I have the same dilemma as the OP. I really like the yeti but i'm afraid I will get no after sales service. I am now looking at the Subaru xv, which has a somewhat better and more stable after sales service. but skoda has higher safety spec than the Subaru, so I still can't decide. another strong point for the yeti is the big trunk, which I will need to load my ageing german shepherd. I can do this with the xv too, but I will need a new dog cage. price for the skoda is negotiable; I have gotten as low as 1.4M from the original 1.6M, while Subaru dealer will not discount a single bath!

XV is 150 hp while Tribute V6 is 200 hp. Mazda wins. You just got to test drive it, they are 2 different types of vehicles. sorry not to be more helpful.

test drove an XV and loved it. don't love their local dealers though...
hopefully the awd system is more trouble-free than in my Tribute V6 :-(

I was also going to get a PJS V6 and convert it to LPG. have a good experience with my 10 year old camry converted to LPG more than a year ago. Mitsu salesperson was frank enough to tell me that the V6 doesn't take the conversion well, so I looked for another car

Well, both xv and yeti are great rides. The first has less immediate power but has a proven 4x4 drivetrain. More sedan than suv. The yeti on the other hand is more fun to drive, safer with the 7 airbags and more space in the back. Modular seats. Prices are 1.35 Mb for the xv and 1.6 Mb for the yeti (but I got as far as 1.4). Pjs is just 1.2 Mb for the gt model 2wd. Both yeti and xv have limited dealer network, unfortunately, otherwise I would have chosen one of them
