  1. The reduction of plastic waste by banning plastic bags [in big stores only] has been blown out of the water [pun intended] by the 'new normal' of home deliveries: Like many others we get most of our shopping delivered, and the amount of packaging is sometimes off the scale. The big stores are little different as they usually arrive just as you would buy in the store but Lazada and Shopee [for example] generate masses of cardboard and plastic. The pic is a small example when food items are delivered, this was for cans of tomatoes, if products are in glass jars even moreso.
  2. Not the best of reviews. You can bet that a significant number of potential buyers think MGs are still made in Abingdon .. their ancestral home just outside Oxford, England.
  3. OP: Methinks that this "cold" that you feel is a combination of the inevitable onset of Winter, compounded by the equally inevitable blanket of Communism.
  4. Rooster: It's realistic and honest stories such as yours that resonate with those of us who have ventured forth 'blindly' into the unknown.
  5. China doesn't have a great medal-winning history at the Winter games. Bets on whether that will change in 2022?
  6. Is that the universe or Universe? Whichever, could be a new topic for discussion.
  7. My mistake, I should have said 'deep frozen'. The fish for the local market is mostly just kept on ice. As mentioned in another post, some for the retail market is vacuum packed
  8. I was merely clarifying the current situation for the OP's benefit. In response to your comments: "The UK branch is for commercial accounts only - they do not handle retail banking. Saying that you used to be able ........." I set up the arrangement directly with the London branch. Obviously had to give them my Thailand account number for the transfer. How it is set up in the London branch I wouldn't know; or recall as it was some years ago. They act as a portal. I find it a convenient system and, from posts on previous topics, I believe I am not alone in that.
  9. I have had a personal [retail] account with the London branch of Bangkok Bank for many years. They provide you with a user-code and you transfer from your bank to them in GBP. The funds are available in the Thai branch next working day. If you have an FCD account it is transferred in GBP and you get to control the exchange rate when you transfer to THB.
  10. Very good movie, as is the sequel 'The Girl in the Spider's Web'
