Layoffs will be happening world wide in 2024, all part of the hard landing, the recession that the FED said wouldn't happen.
The FED never made such a statement. Only investors (err, wagerers).

You missed the point.
Drunk driving should be penalized with incarceration; not slaps on the wrist. There should not be an in-between ground. If the perp has 0.08+% alcohol reading, then off to the irons. I don't care if Thai or (fat) farlang.
I like to drink (perhaps too much). But I am not stupid; I do not drive to a watering-hole.

I was not born in a country whose native language is English. At school we were taught classic English. Unfortunately here in Thailand I experienced that it is impossible to have a fluent conversation with a native English speaking individu. Is it their accent, their speedness, their dialect, their level of education, their idioms I would like to understand. On the contrary when conversating with any other European people I understand despite our sometimes ridicoulous accents. Can anyone explain
Yeah, you were schooled by a narrow-minded teacher(s), and you yourself have not ventured outside a small circle when you were raised.
I do not fault you. But hopefully I have answered your question, err, query.

Everything in life is cause and effect. Why are these punks so misguided? I have been saying for a long time now, the youth of today are very scary people. They have little perspective on anything, and it seems that most parents worldwide, have lost the art of parenting. The very fact that this kid would act like this is proof, that his mother and father have been absent on the job. I am very, very fortunate to not have children. But, if I had them, I would be very strict. Children need boundaries, much like pets. They will test you, to determine where the limits are, and will try to find how far they can push you. These days parents are so hung up on trying to be "friends" with their kids, they hesitate to show them the limits. I see that everywhere I go these days. Here in Thailand it is very pronounced. I hear it is worse in China, where the parents spoil their kids rotten. It is very bad in the US.
If I were a parent and my kid was acting up, when I got home, he would be locked in his room for a 2 days. No school, no play, no TV, no devices, no screens, 2 meals a day, some water, and a bucket for elimination. With a padlock on the outside of the door. He would learn very quickly where his limits were. And my guess it that he would straighten out.
Please, no lectures on parent cruelty. I am NOT a believer in political correctness. On any level. Kids are kids. Parents are parents. In this case, the kid owns the mother. So, this monster has turned his mother into a child. And he owns her. In the past, parents knew the art of parenting. This generation has largely lost it.
Way too many snowflakes trying to be friends with their kids. Your kids are not your friends. They are your kids. Who is the parent?
I have two daughters, and more cherished (perhaps?) is my SUV. If some punk(s) came at me in a threatening manner with their motorbikes, I would probably blow it off. But if the harassment continued, then I would honk my vehicle's horn. If more harassment continued, then I would practice making pancakes.
A 3500 lbs vehicle will always win against a 500 lbs (or less) vehicle.
A word to the youth... don't test me!

They had fun, there was peer pressure to join in, just letting off steam, initiation into a gang, the train had it coming, practice for cars, trucks, busses, vans, etc...
That's sort of what I implied. Indoctrination on how to operate a turret gun.

It was on June 23rd, a transfer of $5,000 from a USA bank to a bank in Thailand. I first wanted to send it to my Yellow bank account but got a message that the amount was over 50,000 baht and amounts over 50,000 baht could only be sent to Bangkok Bank and one other bank--I can't remember what the other bank was.
I also have a Bangkok Bank account so I selected that bank. I then got the message that I needed to upload photo identification before the transaction could be processed. The choices were: passport, national ID, drivers license, and there might have been 1 more choice, can't remember. I used my passport and Wise wanted a downloaded photo that showed both my passport photograph and my signature. I also had to upload a face photo taken with my cell phone. I never had to do any of this before with lots of Wise transfers. I was using my laptop and cell phone but I think a transaction can be done using just your cell phone. I've cut and pasted below the emailed message I got from Wise:
Follow these steps to verify your identity using your phone- Open this email on your mobile device
- Tap on the button ‘Verify your ID’ below
- Take a clear photo of your ID
- Take a photo of yourself — make sure your face is fully visible
- Go back to your computer to finish
If you don’t know why you got this email, please get in touch so we can fix this for you.
I did something similar with Wise. I wanted to transfer a mere $100 from my US account to my Bangkok Bank account (it was my first transfer, and I am 'poor'). I had to scan my US passport using my iPhone. No big deal.
Someday, I will do the same, but for the 400+K Baht transfer to solidify my retirement in LOS with my Thai wife.

Maybe gun turrets should be mounted on the train cars.
Stones today, molatav cocktails tomorrow?
Seriously, why would anyone throw stones at a passing train? Figure out the motive.

I can't find the emoji... but a facepalm is what I wanted. The bloke is carrying US dollars, thus appearing to represent the USA. Sigh.

Bedtime at 9pm seems reasonable, but wake-up time, in your child's case, should be 6am.
I have a teenage daughter that has a similar school schedule. I allow her to dictate the time she goes to sleep, but wake-up time is what it is... 6am. She has to be at school at 7:20. [We live 0.5 miles from school; she could walk, but as a courtesy, I drive her.]
Next year, she will start at 8:20. She will be in the 11th grade (US). Hot as hell in the summer, and freezing cold in the winter.
P.S. She typically walks home, regardless of the weather. We happen to live in a safe area.
P.S.S. You did not mention your daughter's age. Mine will be 16. The school system in my area has a tiered schedule for school:
High School - 7:20 am
Middle School - 8:20 am
Elementary School - 9:30 am
High school kids are let out at 2:15 pm; the other schools are also let out 7 hours after their respective start time.

As I've been reading this thread, and I have become utterly bored; but that does not mean I am going to reach for a beer.
I will reach for a beer for other reasons; for example if a ball game warrants my attention, or if it back home it is late afternoon or evening. Yeah, I am in LOS on holiday, so my internal clock may not have quite synced up with the local time. Also, it is my prerogative to do whatever I want.
This being said, I am going to put on the ball game now (which was played at 3:05am this morning) and enjoy a beer.
Cheers.

Has any non-Thai managed to register on the app recently, in the last few weeks, and actually get it to work? I have tried and failed miserably along with bank staff.
I'm visiting Thailand for a month; I do not have a mobile number. After three visits to my Bangkok Bank branch (in Korat), and a side-step to procure an AIS sim-card, I was able to get the bank's assistance in setting up mBanking on my iPhone. Sigh.
What I really wanted was iBanking, which I hope to use when I return to the USA. I was able to set up an account, but it was implied by the bank that I had to first set up mBanking. Whatever. TIT.
P.S. I could have set up 10 online bank accounts in the USA within the time I wasted going to and from BB.

It's a subtle coup d' etat.
In the US, we use the acronym PITA; the UK would probably use Pita. The PM's name summarizes his predicament regarding COVID.

Thailand has always had a problem with managing debt; it is not really much different in other countries. The only difference is in Thailand it leads the young ones to take on an extra job.
I ain't complaining!

You can also keep your account active by using your bank issued debit card. I was able to use my Bangkok Bank card here in the US.

The OP should read comments here:
In summary, the telephone number in Intuit account needs to match that being used to prepare taxes in TurboTax. I get the impression no other verification steps are needed (e.g., to respond to an SMS). So if you do not have a US-based telephone number, use that of a friend, or some gin-joint location that you can glean from Googling.

She needs to apply for a K-1 visa, not an employment visa. Work (if she chooses) comes later once you are married and she has both a 'green' card (Conditional Resident) and a Social Security Number.
A lawyer is not necessary to apply for the K-1; all instructions are crystal clear. Make sure to keep records of your relationship to the Thai woman (emails, pics, trips to Thailand to visit her, etc.).

Sorry for the late rebuttal, but registering the marriage at the US Embassy, or even a court house in the US, is not necessary.

Not UK immigration related, but oftentimes when completing immigration forms, the queries ought to be answered from the perspective of the person seeking immigration, not the person (even if the spouse) assisting with completing the form.
