  1. Quite ironic then that just a few meters from the accident, I see people driving on the opposite side of the road, and a few more speeding and barely squeezing past fast cars and pickups...:D probably one of the worst ones was someone crossing of yellow double solids without even looking for incoming traffic. "Oh, when will they ever learn..."

    :D

  2. this post made me nauseous. which is probably a good thing. thank you.

Well, I saw it just a few kilometers from my house while I was going to my workplace which is about an hour and a half ride for me on my bike. The image just kept popping out in my mind while I was riding. I felt a huge lump in my throat and another in my chest. I could feel the cold sweat underneath my riding jacket. I had to stopover three times, just to calm myself from the shock...

  3. Passed by an accident last night on my way to work. Route 120 just a few kilometers from Bosang to Maerim. Dead guy, possibly late 30s or 40s, lying in the middle of the road on his stomach. Blood all over his head, eyes closed. More blood coming out of a gaping mouth. A few meters away was his motorcycle and even a few meters more one of his slippers. The guy was on the wrong side of the road so either he was trying to cross when a car or truck hit him or he was driving on the wrong side of the road (which is a common practice in these parts...).

The place smelled something like a dead squid. It must have been a while but no one bothered to cover the body. A guy in shorts and slippers was trying to direct the traffic asking rubberneckers to move along.
I think a cheap helmet might have saved him.

Been looking around for news about the incident online,...

  4. They have rip stop shorts available in the shop too!

My wife washed the pairs I bought yesterday, today. I can't believe how fast they dried in the sun, my socks were still wet when I took the pants off the clothesline.

Wore a black pair tonight on my ride to work. A bit apprehensive at first with the back pockets. I kept checking if my wallet was still there, fearing it might fall off. The material is really light. I thought it would be too warm to wear in this hot weather, but it seems OK. The fit is comfortable too. For the first few minutes, I did miss that snug feeling I get when wearing jeans.

They kind of remind me of army fatigues I used to wear during my ROTC days.

Speaking of knee pads, not sure if proper riding knee guards would fit but I reckon these would be easy to make...

  5. Hey,

Much appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction.

I'm after a complete fairing kit for the old CBR150R. Nearly every panel has been scratched cracked over the years.

I've had a quote from Honda close to 10k, which I thought was a little rich, but that is painted.

I've sent Faddy an email but no reply as yet. They look unpainted from the pics.?

If anyone knows of a alternative that they've heard of or used I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Stefan

Try asking Brian (SumetCycle)... or you can try contacting Faddy from Faddybike by PM on his facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/faddybike?fref=ts), he'll reply in a day or two.

The aftermarket fairings at Faddybike are indeed unpainted, last time I asked he doesn't offer painting services. I'd do away with stickers and paint the bike with a "candy" finish.

  6. Stuck home alone last Friday. While it was a holiday (Visakha Bucha), everyone else in the house had to go to work or school, because they had a long extended summer break. I guess I had too much time to spare...

  7. Why would you, anyone, bother? Honestly I just don't get it. There was probably a million of em built, but none of them are special.

I believe it's that feeling of accomplishing something by yourself (that is if you do the restoration yourself). It's also a matter of perspective what might not be special to one person might evoke different feeling in another.

I do agree with everyone else in saying that undertaking projects like these is more of a labor of love. biggrin.png

It's quite unfortunate in this day and age that most riders do not really know their rides, that is, most of them never work on or maintain their bikes themselves, and/or be able to fix minor stuff.

  8. Rains set in, nobody talks about it anymore.

    Until next year guys!

It's not over yet. Plenty of burning still going on up in the forests around Mae Taeng. Winds are carrying the smoke away but if they stop, look for the visibility to start dropping again. We had no rain up here and the forest is tinder dry. Today was the first day for two months where we have had visibilities over ten miles. Sure is nice to see the mountains and be able to gulp clean air!

Yeah, I'm at Rawee Waree today and passed by Mae Taman early this morning. There were places along the road that looked like they came out of a post apocalyptic scorched Earth sci-fi movie. Still air seems better but it's been very hot even with the water splashing around.

  9. RAIN predicted for Friday, Sunday, and Monday.

The end of the smoky season is hopefully upon us now.

Was about to say so... then I read your post:lol:

Forecast says 30% chance of rain from Friday through Sunday. Hopefully this will clear up some of the smog. It's gotten so bad where I'm at that I have to wear sunnies when I go out in the morning to go to work... just like when I was still working in the desert.

  10. Lucky for me I got assigned to go to Korat. Just when things were starting to get worse.

Yes, my eyes really hurt last Sunday, and a lot of people have been complaining but I haven't seen an end to the fires. Now they're blaming the fire in Mae Hong Son that killed those refugeees for the smog. BTW, those Yingluck signboards have been poppong out now:D

Hopefully in a week things will be better when I have to get back to Mae Taeng.

  11. I see the levels in Chiang Mai finally went into the red today. Quite bad in Mae Taeng this morning and not a good day to be exercising. Hopefully the winds will come and clean things out.

Damn... this does not bode well for us living there. I did see the hillsides near Muangkhen burning last Friday as I left for home in the evening. There's been that distinct smell of ash for a few days and more after the rains stopped.:(
