TikTok Fraud

Yes, very funny! TTB refunded the money and gave me a new card. Just best to not enable a card for online purchase until you actually make the purchase and then disable it again. -

Unsure why 90-day online notify rejected
doctormann replied to david_je's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
When logging onto the system you have to fill in your passport number and nationality. You will also see a field 'Date Visa Expire'. Click the magnifying glass and all required fields are filled in for you. At this stage, if your 'Date Visa Expire' has indeed expired update it. This change will be reflected in the TM47. This info applies to the desktop version of the Immigration app. I don't know if the mobile version is the same as I have never used it. -
My extension runs until 20 July so I would not, at the moment, envisage any problem with the 90-day period extending beyond this date, not that this should be a problem with your application anyway. Maybe I'll have a problem with my next report as this is due on 12 June and this clearly does not allow 90 days before my permission expires. I recall one occasion where my report was rejected at the submission stage because I had just done an extension of stay and had not updated my TM47. I edited this online and all was then OK.

Unsure why 90-day online notify rejected

Jomtien I had a 90-day report rejected just after getting an extension of stay because my TM47 was out of date - and I did get an error message that said exactly that. Updating the TM47 fixed that. This was a couple of years ago. -

If he as just obtained a new extension of stay then he needs to update his TM47 to show the updated 'permission to stay' date. This can be done online when submitting the 90-day report. At least, that has been my experience. -
if you look carefully you can see the strings.

As per the bank's response: 'Customers can also choose to enable or disable online usage functions through the ttb touch app by going to Settings >> Debit Card Management >> Set Spending Limits and Card Usage >> Authorization >> Select Disable Online Purchase Authorization.' Online purchase authorization should only be enabled when about to make an online purchase and should then be immediately disabled again. I had this exact problem with my TTB debit card, some time ago. Someone had managed to get hold of my card number and security code and had made an unauthorized purchase for 32 Baht. I still have no idea how this happened but TTB advise me whenever my account is accessed so I was able to immediately block the card. They issued me with a new card and refunded the 32 Baht. The new card is only enabled for online purchases when I actually use it for that purpose.

I have tried for many years to teach my Thai wife to read a simple map, with zero success. I said, 'pretend that you are a bird, looking down at the ground underneath you'. Simple concept but she just can't handle it. Back in my home country we were taught stuff like that in school. Doesn't happen here, apparently.

I can relate to the signature problem. I had some difficulty with TTB, a while ago, when getting a new pass book, because my signature had changed. In my case I have quite serious arthritis and I find it tricky to even hold a pen, let alone make reproducible signatures. Hilariously, they let me continue trying until I managed to get a match with the signature that they had on file that they were satisfied with. Somewhere on your pass book there will be an image of your signature that is only visible under UV light. A 'black light' pen will reveal it - and you can then practice until you can reproduce it satisfactorily.

Thai government may lift afternoon alcohol sales ban to boost tourism
doctormann replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Doubtful if actual tourists know that there is a ban - until they try getting a drink in the afternoon! -
Sounds about right. When I had my prostate sorted, back in 2013, the cost of the radiotherapy was 4000 Baht per session and I had 39 sessions in all, so 156,000 Baht. There were some additional costs related to MRI scans - maybe another 20,000 Baht. I also had some hormone therapy that was quite expensive - nine injections at 20,000 Baht each so another 180,000 Baht there. All good, ten years down the line. Drag files here to attach, or choose files...

Spread the word! More Brits in Thailand can now vote in the UK
doctormann replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, the snail mail method of sending out voting papers can be a considerable problem. I received my Brexit voting paper just one day before the deadline - not long enough to return it, even by EMS. A proxy would work - if you have one that you can trust. -
No up arrow / cannot clear notifications
doctormann replied to Martin71's topic in Forum Support Desk
Maybe, just maybe, tonight's forum maintenance will fix these issues. We shall see. -
Or just go away - somewhere, anywhere, just go!!
-
That doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe Browser dependent? I use Brave. Anyway, I would like to see the 'clear notifications' and 'return to top' options restored.
-
Yes, this is getting a bit irritating now. It's been a while and the number of notifications is piling up! The 'go to top of page' arrow still hasn't reappeared either.

There are two shops that I know of on Threpprasit Rd., corner of Soi 8. SV Bike Shop - bought my Trek from there but quite long time ago. Numchai Bike Shop Reviews on Google seem to indicate that Numchai is friendlier and possibly cheaper. There are other bike shops dotted around town. Pull up Google Maps for locations.
