  1. If you are currently in Thailand, I don't think it will be that easy. My guess is that you will have to physically go to a country with a UK Embassy/consulate and wait out getting a new passport to accomplish getting a 'clean' new passport. I am sure Lop or Lite will either confirm or crush my assumption here.

To get new uk passport in Thailand you have to send to Hong Kong jap.gif

  2. Anywhere north of the Watford gap is a different country to me.

    Me too, Gov.

There is actually life north of Watford, maybe not in Hartlepool, but definitely close by !!!, but why am I here. OK cancel - NO life north of Watford sad.gif

  3. I don't think I 'qualify' as I haven't made the obligatory 20 posts. Guess what? I'll probably go anyway! Who will stop me?

u have made 29, but just in case the people that will stop you are - the police, the tourist police, the TV police, the I have more posts than you police etc etc etc.................................................jap.gif

  4. Fact remains, when a roadside event takes place and perhaps occupy the sidewalk for another 15-20 seats and tables, and we double park the road, it is Thai culture to have Police attention.

Man this is going to be one hell of a get together. Maybe we should get proper ticketing in place, pre mailed out to members and possibly even get approval to close the road around RicknRoll. Hell, by the sounds of it there'll be enough police and security there, they can just take care of it for us. Thanks guys. We'll be inside having another beer

Only to members that are felt good enough to attend rolleyes.gif

  5. I think that the farnags in Immigration do a fine job

    What a fantastic word!

Descriptive of some of the posters on here, including myself.

Must find as many ways to slip it into conversation as I can.

    Quite !!!! typo I think & hope jap.gif

    farnag wouldn't even google !!!!

  6. By the way, I find it rather unfair to criticized the foreign volunteers for making the odd mistake...

An odd mistake, from one of the volunteers, cost a friend of mine over 10K. He had to go for a visa run to Penang that could have been avoided. Don't trust anything they say, paid or unpaid.....

Why your friend pay over 10k Baht, when you can go for 4,500 Baht - extras ??!!. The trouble with Thai Immigration rules - they change / or bend at a moments notice and what was correct yesterday may not be today. I think that the farnags in Immigration do a fine job, can you imagine that office without them now even if 'you know what you are doing' :jap:

  7. Welcome to ThaiVisa

We are in a holiday destination where people do things they wouldnt dare at home. Some drown from it, some drunk drive and die, and some do other things they may regret later.

The Phuket Blues Rock Festival with a few hundred spectators finished last night and had at least 10 Policeoffisers present. The warm up show on Patong Beach at Thursday had a hundred spectators and 2 uniformed Police.

Most venues have security staff. For this ThaiVisa event at RicknRoll we improve security with uniformed Police.

Although I'm fairly sure that new poster is an existing member, very bored and sitting in an internet cafe, I agree with him about the security.

Anybody who believes that this get together needs a police presence, really shouldn't be going. I realise it's probably TV's way of making sure they avoid any incidents that will lead to bad publicity, but still, police presence at a BBQ in a public place?? Madness!!

I would come along with my police uniform and truncheon, but I am not allowed to - " NOT welcomeani.gif"

  8. You have to draw the line somewhere otherwise Rick may just as well hang out a bunch of balloons & call it a birthday party. At IBAP if you are a member the entry fee is only half the price as non members pay. At GOMS everyone pays the same price but you have to qualify for voting rights.

    Hi - you indicate

IBAP - all members are accepted

GOMS - all members are accepted - - what is GOMS please

TV - NOT all members are accepted

I personally am not bothered about going, but it's the double standards that are being applied that hack me off. jap.gif

  9. what the criteria for attending the get together, it seems to be so many posts and a member for more then 3 months, have i got that right. to me thats like putting 20 million in the thai bank, but your only a valued customer, even though we need your contributions to survive after you've walked in the bank 20 times or 3 months has past. it seems to undermine the common decency of the nubbie forum members, once i join something i'm 100% committed, postings or time frames really have no relevance to my intentions or commitment. How do these regulations and procedures work with the partners of the forum members, they might never have even seen the forum, never posted or don't even know how long there partners have been a member on the forum. i would have thought if a nubbie is willing to pay for a BBQ that in it's self shows attention and commitment towards the forum.

  10. fingers-crossed that it's western fare, BillR! i loathe the sai yuan 7-11! saw the new family mart near the crepes place...it's not open yet...

Opened this morning - other half very excited !!!! new 7/11 new family mart - Oh My Buddah jap.gif

  11. Where did I say I wanted to go ??? I only felt that it was unfair on the members that were less than 3 months !!! Read the posts carefully jap.gif

Either way mate, if you think it's unfair that people who have just joined can't go, and you can't see the logic behind it, then I think you're a bit daft.

There is no logic behind it - It's a party for all members EXCEPT those who joined less than 3 months ago - plain & SIMPLE jap.gif
