thanks for the document, i read it and yes im screwed. ive looked at my last 5 month and one of the months lands just under and so i cant meet the requirements based on how they work them out.
i cant move to thailand, she cant move here! :/ relationship is over. even tho i earn way more than needed! what a joke
Obviously we don't know your salary arrangements, but why can't you earn the required salary for the full 6 months ? Why are two months of every year below the threshold ?
If you are caught in this trap, then you should bring it to the attention of your MP. If people don't question or complain, then nothing will change.
i work in on a order basis. i can go to work one day and earn £200 i can go the next and there will be nothin, so they give me a days pay at minimum wage for hanging around for an hour in the morning.
i dont have a set wage, i can earn anywhere from £6.19 to £50 an hour
So the government set the minimum wage as something you can live on but not allow you to use that for your spouse thus increasing the earning potential.

If your in and out of Thailand and married you can still get a std O visa no need to get a married visa.

Some people have too much time and anger in their lives.
In Spain bar owners work non 400% margins for food and beer. Thailand it's 100-150% as a rule.
You sit there with an electric fan being cared for by some Issaan angel and all for 75p a beer.
Sounds bloody good value to me.

Send another 5000 a month and that will be plenty.
I used to live that way and a family can buy food from the markets for around 100 baht. Enough food for a family of 4.

Oxford fan by birth but Pattaya United fan when in Thailand.
We gave Mr Fowler serious stick last season.
Loads of Farang fans for PU and we all mix very well with the Thai's..
Great atmosphere with occasional flashes of good football.

The minimum income is only for new applications after Oct 13 or thereabouts.
You fall into the old category same as we do.
So I am sure you have enough income but one of the experts will come on and clarify this.

Even though my wife's visa was approved last year I like to keep up to date with who what when why.
Those of you waiting it is a killer to think we are British born and bred and our wives have to Ho through this rigmarole.
But the feeling you get when she gets that sticker is amazing.
Take the wait as a necessary evil.
Good luck to you all

The application really is very easy,EnglishinSiam
Great ta the ILR seems pretty straightforward too. Just seems ludicrous you pay a fortune for that then got to pay loads again for Citizenship.
Still at least it means we can travel the world freely with few restrictions as a family.

Great thread I have subscribed as we will be going through this process in May 14. Maybe by then I will have gleamed enough insight in the process etc.
You, and anyone else about to apply, may find British Citizenship Basics useful. But check again nearer the time as procedures etc. may have changed by then
Will do thanks

Still doesn't make me want to rent one. It'll be cheaper to buy my own.

I have always said I would never buy something in Thailand I'm not prepared to walk away from.
But back to the post he had 5 months to get his sons German passport/birth certificate sorted while his wife was there.
As soon as our son was born we registered his birth with both British and Thai authorities.

I know she has to do the life in UK so no further English tests if she takes that?
She is currently going to college on the Ielts English course so she can work in her field here. I know that's not acceptable for ILR so if she doesn't have to do further exams apart from Life in UK it will save our bank balance a little bit.

I can't see which English test she needs. Does her A2 English for her settlement Visa qualify her for ILR under the old rules?

Great thanks for that.
So as long as she goes for ILR before Oct 13 her English test for the Settlement Visa is sufficient along with the Life in UK test.

Can anyone advise what the old rules for Applications before July 2012 for ILR were please?
When my wifes Settlement visa expires we will have only been Married 3 years but my understanding is that as she will have completed 27 months in the UK she will have done her probationary period and we'll be able to apply for ILR.
Then shortly afterwards as we'll have completed 3 years living in the UK she'll be able to apply for Citizenship.
Am I right in my thinking?
I've been looking for the old rules here and on the UKBA website but it only gives snippets.
Thanks

Skype isn't reliable anywhere in Thailand. I was on 20 Meg True Ultra and I used to even struggle to have voice chats via Skype.
We keep in touch with the family via www. Muangthai. Com

That's pure craziness submitting an obviously photoshopped picture.
You really are going to have a hard job to explain that.
Good luck

Will the mighty Oxford get the result we need away to fail and will Crewe lose to Aldershot on the last day of the season to secure Oxfords place in the playoffs?

Still it won't help the fact that Skype is so hit and miss on Thai internet.
I called my bank 3 times the other day until they finally heard me.

5% is also the norm in Spain unless it's over a million euros then it's usually about 3%
Also I've never seen 1% in the UK it's nearer 2-2.5 depending on location and value. They will also tie you into a sole agency agreement.
It's simple if you don't like the process don't use them no need to start a pointless post about it.
