HI all,
I need to buy a decent pair of dog clippers, my vet recommended something like Andis ProClip http://shihtzuexpert.com/best-clippers-for-shih-tzu/#AndisProClipAGC2
Is there anywhere I might be able to buy one locally (CM, BKK, etc). Not sure how long it will take if I order on amazon us and also not sure about import duties etc.
BTW I did try lazada, kaidee etc, just cheap clipper available
TIA

Hi Guys,
You may not think this to be your best option as you're in Chiang Mai, but lots of us have been roped into Apple over the years. I've used these guys (that's a link which will take you to their website Dr MacBook) in Bangkok for the past few years, they repair and refurbish iPhones, iPads and MacBooks amongst other products (not so much of a regular customer since i found a great iPhone case The business is run by Arno (speaks Dutch, German, English at the very least) and his wife Tikky in the Fico Place building, heart of Bangkok near Asoke BTS. Very professional, honest, reliable... they use Kerry Logistics to ship repaired items if you're not in Bangkok... my personal experience, they are very good and well worth a visit/call if you're having a problem with any Apple product... happy for your to drop my name if you call them (John with the big German Shepherd they know me and i'm happy to refer them as they're good, reliable people...(which means more to me than price) cheers and good luck.
Genset...
Thank you Genset :),
I checked them 2990 and the fact that I have send the MBA to BKK did not sound competitive.

Hi All,
Further to my question about where to replace MBA KB >
https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/1008929-where-to-replace-macbook-air-keyboard/
Is it worth replacing the keyboard? MBA 2011 a1369 13" or is it better to buy a new Macbook [Pro] :)

Hi all,
Any Apple enthusiasts here?

Buying Keyboard from ebay and DIY = 500 baht
Buyibng a 2nd hand MBA ebay = 6000-7000 baht
Found 4 places that claimed are able to do this for me
1. Magic Apple repair shop (Pantip plaza) = 3500 Bahts
2. Shop just before Magic Apple repair shop (Pantip plaza) = 2800 Bahts
3. Apple repair shop (Near North gate) = 3000 Bahts
4. Apple repair shop (computer plaza) = 2800 Bahts
I have used 1 before, so might give them a go
Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)

Hi All,
Asking on behalf of a friend
Can you please recommend a professional photographer who has experience of photographing houses and is capable of taking high quality photos for airbnb listings in Chiang mai. We are not looking for the usual free airbnb photographers because this time we would really like to highlight the improvements we have made.Thank you very much in advance
Best regards,

Thank you so much The Appletons,
Don't suppose you know the name or the address of the one is Nimman area?
Ta
of course they do that's why you have to pay them! same as the other sending reports via post but that's free, they all make the queues longer!
Mailing in your 90 day report does not "make the queues longer". The mailed reports are processed at the Airport Immigration office.....the in-person queue is located at Promenada.
To answer your question about the location of the visa agents, of the three most popular - one is located in the Nimman area, one is in the Chiang Mai Land area, and one is at Promenada.

Where are these 90 day reporting agents located? Promenada or at the immigration building across the road from Promenada? I don't mind paying 300 if that means I can go there in the afternoon

Hi all ,
Has anyone changed from Ed Visa to Tourist visa?

Your only option is a Limited Company + 4 x Thai staff.
Not true. 'Farang' lawyers tell you that because they are generally greedy and untrustworthy.. I stopped using such lawyers about 10 years ago and now use an honest Thai accountant.
You have several other legal choices:
1 - Registered Limited Partnership with your GF, where she owns 51% and you own 49% of the business partnership (or other ratios, but she must be the majority partner). You can apply for a WP, (so long as your profession is not on the prohibited employment list). The requirement for 4 Thai staff relates to visa extensions, not to your B visa. However, depending on your local labour office, they may require you to have 4 Thai employees or possibly 2.
Note - I have used this type of structure for the past couple of years for one of my small hotels, partner was ex-wife
2 - Registered sole Trader Business. Your GF goes to her local Tessabahn office and registers the business as a sole trader. Cost is about 100 baht if I recall. This type of business has no limited liability protection. She can employ you as above.
Note - I have used this type of structure for the past couple of years for another of my small hotels, partner was another ex-wife.
We used our Thai accountant to help us to register both types of business. The sole trader fees were about 400 baht, the partnership fees were a few thousand baht.
For both of these types of entity, you do not have legal 'control' over the business. But (as with my businesses), if you possess the skill upon which the business relies, then you do have 'control'
But! Your success may vary because some accountants deny that you can use this type of legal entity to employ a foreigner. Check the Thai law and you'll see that it is quite legal.
Good luck
Simon
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the information, Sorry for digging up this old thread.
I was just wondering whether it is still possible to use those 2 options.
I visited a farang lawyer today and was given the option 1, because it has limited liability and he advised to form a 100% Thai owned company for my GF and then get a workpermit for myself (employed as the GM)
The cost to form a company = 24000 Bahts
The cost for workpermit = 18100 Bahts (3000 more for the visa application)
from your post, I think we should be able to do this for a lot less.
I would be most grateful for any advice.
TIA:)

Is this a free service by immigration? or is there a fee?
Also any experience of doing this at Chiang Mai immigration? I am just trying to see whether I can go in the afternoon, rather than joining the queue at 4:30 am
BTW. got all the documents sorted

Thank you very much ubonjoe

HI
You will need a letter from the UK embassy stating you got a new passport to get the transfer done. >> Is there a name for this letter (e.g. like a TM8)? or should I just go the the British embassy in BKK (assuming cannot get it done here in Chiang Mai) and ask for a visa transfer letter?
Cheers in advance

I've been in Thailand since 2011 so it was not insured (taxed, MOT), was on SORN.
Hopefully the police will recover it, they were very helpful.
steve187The police were unable to tell me any details about the new registrant, I forgot to ask about the whereabouts of the car
-
Wish you all a very happy new year!
My estate agent just informed me that my car is not at the gated parking space where it used to be.
A call to the crime bureau confirmed that it had been stolen and sold off
has anyone been in this situation before? if so any suggestions ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks digitalchromakeyYou need a colour copy of ever page in your passport--my advice is to get them done where you are--not cheap by the way. Same for your photos--dont you need someone to sign one confirming they know you?
Dont forget you need to print a copy of your appointment letter.
Scan and colour print, colour copies work out at an extortionate rate.
Why leave supporting items for the application to renew such an important identity document, why leave anything to chance?
Better surely to get all your ducks lined up well in advance.
Re red highlighted section in quote above:
A counter signature is only required if your appearance has changed substantially since your last passport was issued.
You may be asked by trendy to sign the back of one of your photos in black - check if they want you to sign or not when you are there..
That's a great suggestion to scan and print in colour, I am slightly worried about the fact that HMPO wants colour photocopies, but will try it this way.
Also thanks for the invaluable tip about asking them whether they need my autograph on the back of the pic, included that in my checklist
Thanks again!

My Neighbour Keeps Parking their multiple Cars!
in Chiang Mai
Posted
Hi,
My Neighbour Keeps Parking their multiple Cars on the Street in Front of My House, Can I Do Something About It?
Is there a law here in Thailand against parking about 3-4 cars and 4 motorbikes blocking my gate?
Told them several times, but they seem to prefer parking in front of my property when the whole street is empty and never seem to park in front of their own property
Just terribly annoying.
TIA
