  1. I hope it's okay to mention "I found <350 thb/gram here in Pattaya." Went looking for the Bong Party on Walking Street. It was closed but, an industrious young man had set up shop on folding tables with at least 10 different strains. I asked for Thai stick, he had. So I bought a little baggie with 3 grams for 200 baht. I'm a pipe smoker so I just had about 3+ tokes from that and I have say, it works for me. And at 66.66 baht a gram, I also happy. Don't get me wrong, it's not up there with that 700 baht Mimosa I have but it's 66.66 baht. My guess is Thai Stick of different kinds will hit the market any second now because, after all, cannabis grow like a weed here.
  2. I should have known better. I point out the use of a vax certificate number as a Thai National ID worked and all you guys want to talk about a whiny expats and other grocery stores. Waste of time here, total waste of time. I'm going to go do something worthwhile.
  3. Yeah, that's kind of obvious, but moving data like addresses etc is easy. Having said that my primary point(s) the spike in meat prices (most of the rest seem in line) and the use of a Vax Certificat number as a Thai ID is of no interest? Each to their own.
  4. Ran into an interesting thingy. As many of you know Lotus's is killing off the Tesco brand and part of that is killing off is the Tesco online shopping platform is being axed. I say “killing off” because the only part of my previous data they've kept is my phone number and name. Everything else, including delivery address is gone. Very sloppy and almost feels vindictive. Anyway, after swearing a lot at the spike if pricing, especially for meat. I managed to get one last order in the Tesco platform where I got 2 kilos of minced port at 149 baht kilo, Lotus's has the same thing, now coming in a styrofoam/plastic wrap package for 239 baht/kilo. (didn't the Thai gov say they would stop price...?) Just checked, it's been deleted as has all Tesco pork. Second anyway, after I decided to register regardless I came across a curious thing. You need to enter your phone number before you can actually access the registration form then, if you were already registered with Tesco, it loads with your name but no other info. Just below that area it asks for your “Thai National Identification Number” Are they saying we must be a Thai national to buy food on their website? Seriously? I've sent them an email asking that question and have not heard back from them. Now, here is an interesting wrinkle, and I have no idea how it will work out but, after swearing at my computer for a few seconds I got the big idea to use the number I had been assigned on my COVID vaccination certificate by the Thai MOPH. It's an official Thai gov ministry, so why not? The certificate reads, หมายเลขบัตรประชาชน (ID card number) where there is a 13 digit number, so I entered that and their system accepted it. Does that mean I can finally get the refund money Lazada owes me? They put refunds in their 'Wallet” system that can only be accessed if you have a Thai National ID, since they're being super careful about 'money laundering' when I cancel that order for a pair of socks...can hardly wait to buy that bag of spicy seaweed treats. Discuss.
  5. That's probably my main complaint. If I go to a bar or other public place and a smoker irritates me I get up a leave, find another spot. But in this case it's my home. I don't use or affect his space but he diminishes mine.
  6. Advice needed. I rent a high floor waterfront condo in a 20 story high-rise building (Pattaya area.) I have been here or 3 1/3 years and have one of the most gorgeous views an old retired guy could have. There is still 8 months remaining on the existing contract. The condo below me has been unoccupied since the beginning of the pandemic. Recently, someone moved in. I don't know if it's the owner or a vacation renter. The reason I say vacationer is because I've seen that unit on AirBnB. The problem is whoever is in there is a smoker and that smoke invades my balcony and is, to put it mildly, disgusting. The balconies here a quite large and as such are part of our living space here. Since the smoker arrived I've been chased off my balcony, forced inside and need to seal off the balcony until this careless smoker stops or goes out. I've complained to the juristic office and they, as they tend to do, have done nothing. I don't pee on his balcony, so I don't see how he has the right to fill mine with toxic smoke. I would like to know if any of you have had to put up with this and if so, how did you deal with it? I've asked my rental agent to speak to the juristic but have seen no results, just more smoke. Do I have a legal recourse? If I'm forced to move can I sue the smoker, the juristic office and anyone else involved in this for costs? This is more than just a matter of a disgusting smell, it's also a health issue. When I moved in here late 2018 there was a reassuring note on the wall of the elevator that said something like “Do not smoke on the balcony. Do not disturb your neighbor.” or words to that effect. Any suggestions? A lawyer's phone number or name?
  7. The legal structure behind it's use https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/cj-jp/cannabis/
  8. It's a complicated issue but there is a model in use right now, in Canada https://theconversation.com/canadas-marijuana-legalization-provides-lessons-to-the-world-on-selling-cannabis-166645#:~:text=In October 2018%2C Canada became, the recreational use of cannabis.&text=The Cannabis Act (Bill C,sale and possession of cannabis.
  9. Good info for sure. In the case of a hinge it can be big or it can be small. I checked online vids and depending on where the damage is it can mean a near complete dismantling. In my case it looks like the spot where the hinge attaches to the lid has broken loose. This vid shows a lot of work, a big repair due to a relatively simple thing like a hinge. BTW - do you have a location for the ACER service center you use?
  10. I had two other things done as well. So the price was a total for 3 jobs. I'm going to Pattaya2U next week for the hinge redo, I'll post that ฿ then.
  11. I need a hinge fixed on my Acer laptop but, the shop I used to go to in Tukcom is gone. It was the one on the 3rd floor toward the back (as you come up the escalator - a little jag to the right and straight ahead) they knew their stuff, did good work at a fair price. There are two shops on the right hand side of the escalator. I took my laptop into the the first one (can't remember the name) who did a lousy job. The hinge is offset and just came loose again 3 weeks later. I took the plastic cover off and saw that he didn't replace anything, just squeezed a little glue in then overcharged big time. I'm not much for confrontation so I paid the bill thinking he had actually repaired the thing, he did not. Terrible shoddy work. I know he should fix it a gain but the work is badly done to the point I think he might cause more problems. So, does anyone know where the other guys moved to or do you have a suggestion for a competent fair minded repair shop? After scanning through about 200 pics on Google Maps found it. PATTAYA2U. The reason I'm still posting this is b/c they do excellent work while the other guys do not. Do a Google search, they're about 3 blocks from Tukcom My clue
  12. And the funny part, they approved both TM47s. The one with the correct information and the one that says I arrived in Thailand 9 days before I was born. So, I have two receipts now, it's all good.
