'Leeds United have been informed by the Football Association that they do not believe it appropriate for there to be any further inquiry into the decision and the process adopted by the Football League surrounding the club's 15-point deduction.

Chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "We are amazed that the Football Association do not feel it is appropriate to intervene in a matter which we believe is fundamentally wrong, and sets a dangerous precedent for the future.

"We will fully reflect on this surprising decision and are taking the advice of our legal team. We will not be making any further comment at this time."

######'em, we'll still go up as champions.

  3. I recently saw that in a poll mounted by football fans in UK, that 88% were in favour of sacking McClaren now and giving the job to Jose'.

Sorry, what happened to all the Liverpool,United, Arsenal,Spurs,West Ham, Fulham,Man City, Newcastle, Villa, and probably everyother supporter except Chelsea in England that hated and despised him? Not another change of heart lads?

Maybe its Chelsea they despise not him. :o

  4. From the Yorkshire Evening Post-

According to The EP Leeds First & County, Leeds United are waiting to discover whether the battle to overturn their 15-point penalty has won the support of the Football Association.

United's demand for a review of their Football League sanction was discussed at an FA board meeting in London yesterday after Leeds appealed to the Association for help in fighting the punishment.

The 15-point deduction was one of several items on the FA's agenda and United are expected to learn later this week whether the FA will recommend an independent assessment of the League's sanction.

Leeds were originally penalised by the Football League on August 3 after exiting administration without a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).

The club believed rules relating to exceptional circumstances would allow them to regain their membership of the League without punishment, and United's anger at the penalty increased after a majority of Football League clubs voted to reject their appeal at a hearing in London six days later.

Elland Road chairman Ken Bates has hinted that he would be willing to accept the punishment if the League's ruling is supported by an independent panel, and the FA are considering his argument after the 75-year-old sent documents stating his case to Soho Square last month.

The Association's board does not have the authority to reverse the League's decision outright, but the dispute may now be passed to their regulatory department for further consideration following yesterday's meeting. United hope an independent tribunal will then be asked to arbitrate.

The FA's 14-man board includes Football League chairman Lord Brian Mawhinney and Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks, along with four other representatives of the professional game.

It is not known whether Sheepshanks voted against United's appeal last month but Bates claimed he had been informed that, while Mawhinney and Sheepshanks were free to attend yesterday meeting, neither man would be allowed to contribute to the discussion of the 15-point penalty due to a potential conflict of interest.

Manchester United chief executive David Gill, Bolton chairman Phil Gartside,

Blackburn Rovers director Robert Coar and Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards are also members of the board, and both FA chairman Geoff Thompson and chief executive Brian Barwick are believed to have attended yesterday's meeting.

Bates has insisted previously that United adhered to Football League rules when ending their spell in administration, despite the club's failure to implement an approved CVA.

The situation represented the first occasion that the League has used the exceptional circumstances clause to return a club's Football League share without a CVA.

The Association is not expected to comment publicly on the outcome of yesterday's meeting, but it is likely to contact Leeds this week to confirm whether or not they intend to back the League's judgement.

A spokesman for the FA said: "The full details of the discussions will be passed on in correspondence with the club."

  5. Do you consider the power that Thaksin had over the media to represent a democracy?

One where all parties had a voice?

Maybe they want real democracy not a military puppet regime :o

I consider democracy to be what the people vote for.

( you may say he paid for their votes but maybe they would have voted for him regardless)

Now all parties have a voice as long as you say what the junta want you to say,

if not they will remove you in another coup

  6. Hopefully the festival will go ahead next year

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE LIVE IN BANGKOK !?

    Bangkok will rock, OK!

    THAI TAKES

    By PHILIP GOLINGAI

Bangkok is set to party again come February next year, hopefully without the armour.

TANKS rolled on the streets and rocked the Bangkok Rock Festival 2007.

That was one unreported casualty of Thailand’s bloodless coup that saw the fall of Thaksin Shinawatra’s Government on Sept 19, 2006.

As tanks rolled on the streets of Bangkok, concert promoter David McLean’s first thought was on the sponsors lined up for the rock festival scheduled in five months’ time.

“I knew as soon as the military coup happened that the head sponsor who is based in London or Hong Kong will switch on CNN and have second thoughts about writing a cheque to fund my event,” relates McLean, who is a Brit married to a Thai and lives in Bangkok.

His first act, however, was to go down to the store in his condominium to buy 10 bottles of water to make sure that he had plenty of water to drink.

A few weeks after the putsch, McLean cancelled the rock festival when the military-installed government announced it would ban alcohol advertising.

“One of our main sponsors was a big alcohol company and the announcement meant that it was not allowed to sponsor our event,” explains the co-founder of Riverman Music Group, the organiser of the Bangkok Rock Festival 2007.

Subsequently, the interim government reconsidered its plan to impose an alcohol advertising ban. But it was too late for McLean to reconsider his cancellation.

However, the rock festival will make a comeback in February 2008.

“We did it once,” said McLean, whose company booked the artists for the Bangkok 100 Rock Festival, a two-day festival which was the most ambitious international concert ever planned in Bangkok, attracting 42,000 local and international fans in February 2006.

“It was good, and we want to do it again,” he said, adding that the inaugural event featured Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Placebo, Snow Patrol and Maximo Park, among others.

Although post-coup uncertainty still hovers in Bangkok, McLean will soldier on with his rock festival.

“Ok...there could be security issues ... there could be political issues ... there could be all sorts of issues. But it is like that in any country. I had just been to Brazil (to promote a concert) and it is not exactly an easy place to live in. And, there are even bombs in London,” says the manager of alternative rock band Placebo.

His ambition for the Bangkok Rock Festival is to build it into the biggest rock event in Asia. “I don’t say that lightly, as there’s Fuji Rock, which is a huge event,” he says, referring to the annual rock festival held in Naeba, Japan.

Bangkok rocks. It’s a fantastic city for a rock festival, according to the 51-year-old Scot, whose one dream that he has not really realised – apart from playing for Scotland in the World Cup Finals and scoring a hatrick – is organising a rock festival.

“I couldn’t believe that there hadn’t been a rock festival in Bangkok,” he adds.

“The people, the atmosphere, the vibes here are so much more superior to that in other cities I’ve been to,” declares the Scot who has promoted some of the most well respected names in music, such as Nirvana, Green Day, Foo Fighter, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine and Pearl Jam.

The other attraction of Bangkok is its location. The city can draw people from China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Europe. “There’s a real desire for people to come here,” he notes.

For Bangkok Rock Festival 2008, McLean is talking to about 60 international artistes. These will later be pruned to eight. Among the bands he is talking a bit more seriously to are Killers, My Chemical Romance, Evanescence, Artic Monkeys and Muse.

Come February 2008, Bangkok will rock and, hopefully, no tanks will roll.

  7. The OP is talking about income from a business ,not a salary,so the tax is on the nett after costs are deducted. In our case ,being a farm the T/W gets 80% cost of income plus her 30,000 bt allowance.

Her tax on over 500k was about 1% of gross.

    Hi Ozzydom,

The wife and I own a restaurant (in her name only)and would like to know what needs to be done

so she will qualify for the 40k+ per month for tax purposes.

I am using the 400k in the bank but would like to get ready just in case they change the rules .

    Many thanks

  9. Well today those bastards upheld the 15 point deduction :o

"Leeds United presented their appeal and why they thought the board was wrong," said the Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney. "We then had a vote which overwhelmingly endorsed the decision that there should be a sanction. In a second vote the League overwhelmingly endorsed the sanction. Overwhelmingly means the vote was over 75% in support of the board.

"Leeds are starting the new season in League One as a valued member of the league's football family but with a penalty of 15 points."

Marching on Together, we will be back

How can those who are directly influenced by the result of the appeal have the last say i.e our rivals in the Football League?
