I do understand the immigration thing, both from a refugee point of view and from those that are just trying to move to what they hope is a better place. But storming a border of a country and breaking that country's laws is tantamount to invading the country.

I think you are right.
When I visited Hua Hin in 2015, my squeeze of that time told me to observe all of the "aging" men there. I did. She was very correct. At 66, I suddenly felt young again (and that was before we returned to our hotel room).
I turn 63 this year. I be a spring chicken!

I feel bad for the locals that got sucked into the expansion craze the last few years. To me about 2004 was one of the last really good years. Later the Bangkok floods really drove a lot of people to head to the nearest city such as Pattaya that had any semblance of infrastructure.

People are foolish that give these "trainers" money. Go to the library or bookstore and by a weight training book. Start with basic 3 sets of 10 reps and a weight you can handle. Give that a few months and see how you feel. cut out the soda and the bacon cheeseburgers and good things can happen. It is not rocket science. Goodness, if you are too lazy to read and study a little bit, you most likely are too lazy to take training seriously. Of course many think or want the short cut and to pop some pills and take some special supplements or needles or whatever.

Set up a "buffer" checking account. Have your pension or dividends or whatever monies go into that. Then have the transfers done around the middle of the month. That avoids any chance of a few days or a weekend or a holiday or some snafu messing things up and monies missing the end of the month, or two transfers happening in the same month, etc..

I saw on the news here in New Jersey that the Louvre was closed, but the news did not mention the staff had walked out.

I am not surprised. It really is not a great location as people do not live down that way. The store up off Pattaya Klang is better suited and in a better location.

They could clean out the Russian skanks all over Pattaya. I am pretty sure there are a lot of chinese plying their trade too, based on the facial features I saw

You can apply for a Non-Immigrant O Visa in Pattaya at Jomtien Immigration Office. Fee is 2,000 baht. If using 800,000 in Thai bank, you will need to show it came from outside of Thailand. You will also need a minimum of 15 days remaining on your current permission to stay - if not already done, a one time extension of the initial permission to 30 days can be obtained - fee 1,900 baht. They have to send to Bangkok for approval and Bangkok Immigration requires the 15 days to process.
In addition to photo and passport page copies, you will need documents to show your current residence such Rental Agreement, Housebook, Company documents if Company owned, etc. Copies of your Thai bank book identity page and pages showing 800,000 on deposit. Also a letter from your Thai bank verifying the account and the balance.
What exactly would they need for the rental agreement to say? I plan to just rent or pay month to month as I am always leery about long term leases, bad or noisy neighbors or other circumstances that arise. Does the rental agreement have to specify one year?

So the man has chosen to limit his future options. Certainly is his choice. When he reaches age 65 he may regret not being eligible for US Medicare which all in all, is relatively reasonably priced, even with a typical Supp B whose premium at the moment is about $144/month.

I agree with the use of Passport. If you want to drive in the USA after your license has expired, obtain an International driver's license based on your Thai driver's license.
That will not work, or should not work. The international driver license simply restates that one has a valid driver license. At least that is what happens in the USA. I went to AAA auto club, presented my Florida License, they gave me a few pages long pamplet written in several languages, attached a photo of me, and all it does is attest that I have a valid US driver license.

As this Nation sinks the defiant Thai bhat seems to get stronger...
give the dissent and riots a chance to get going, and I think you will see Thailand spiral down in popularity. Being able to buy influence and bring bag money to get projects done gets very hard to do when things are shut down or disrupted

I do not recall ever hearing of the place.

As he came to Thailand when he was two years old and hasn't been back I think it's safe to say that he has never worked in the USA. Therefore he won't qualify for social security when he turns 62. As an expat his first $100,000 something is tax few from the USA. He probably doesn't make that much a year so he won't have to pay anything in taxes. May not have any investments in the USA. All he really has to do is file a tax return and I'm thinking his might be quite easy to do. Kind of a waste of 72,000 baht to renounce something you're not really using.
Not true. the foreign income exclusion is for "Earned income", i.e. wages only. If he has a business or other sources of income, things may be different

yep, one less port of call for him to be able to enter. Rarely a good idea to get rid of options

Every state I checked now issues Real ID drivers licenses.
I agree with several statements above and couldn't care less about having a Real ID license, since I have a passport (and Global Entry card), but it seems that to get and maintain a drivers license it's no longer possible to get a non-Real ID license (or will be soon.)
Regardless, I no longer can drive since I now no longer have a drivers license. Hawaii would only issue a duplicate (non-Real ID) of my lost license if they mail it to the original address for the license. That address no longer exists, so all they can do is issue a new one, and it will be Real ID. And, even if they could mail me a duplicate, it expires next year and any renewal will require Real ID compliance.
Most states used to issue a valid Non Driving ID and from my quick research many will still do that. Many people do not drive for a variety of reasons.

I've had no problem getting excused two times now in my state holding a DL... Just took a phone call to the local jury office and an explanation I was out of the area for a considerable period of time.
And I believe the business site GifBoy referenced above re his state, South Dakota, also included a mention that avoiding jury duty there is not a problem.
yes for two times and a max of 6 months total from Palm Beach County in Florida. Now the next time, the clerk will not help you and you have to get the judge to excuse you, fax him a letter, etc,

The question is, how far will things go? Hundreds of thousands blocking the streets, rail lines, sit ins, then of course when you get thousands crowded together, tensions run high, violence, riot, as has happened in many cities around the world, Thailand included. Dissolving political dissent goes deep into intellectuals mind set

the endless scrolling, page jumping and moving up and down. It really is bad. Now if support thinks we users can solve the problems, well, maybe they should watch Bar Rescue. If we turn away from the site, less people will use the less, less traffic for the adverts, etc. Snow ball effect

Boy oh boy, based on the fore arms and part of the body and fingers visible in the photo, that lady might be a mamasan or maybe just has a good thick back and good for pulling the plow. I don't think that is Maria Shriver type of figure

Do a visa check on any of the russian girls standing down on walking street, some handing out fliers. Breaking many rules. Deport the lot of them.

i have avira for 15 years now. My buddy was using it and he at the time said it was the German or european standard. (his wife is german and he has lived there.). I have the free version and it has protected me on my old Toshiba satellite and now my EliteBook with no issues. I have noticed the changes with time, and the stuff the seem to want to sell me, and the auto update can not be disabled and the auto scan seems to go when it wants no matter what I do to stop that. So far no show stoppers though. For the Free price, it has been pretty good

More steps to a process, more people involved, more people employed. Who said efficiency was ever a primary goal?

I like that. I may be there after Mid April and when Thai Songkran is over. A two day pass seems reasonable, as it gives a person the option of waiting out for the crowds, flexing ones' time, etc.
I have the coronavirus. So far, it hasn’t been that bad for me.

The problem with statistic, is they do not really know how many people had the virus. They only know how many of the people they tested had the virus. Today on the news they said 90,000 cases, 3,000 deaths. OK. I am sure they tested the people that were sick or died so they know if they had the virus. But they sure as heck did not test 100 million people or 3 billion people, etc. So they have no idea how many people "have" the virus. So to say 90,000 cases, really only means 90,000 confirmed cases. It most likely is more like 9,000,000,000 cases. Some people just don't develop any symptoms, or many had such mild things like a runny nose, they just went to bed and slept a lot over the weekend and like a common cold were over it quickly and did not report anything
