  1. I've read some good things about this small hotel, and am staying there soon. To help me get my bearing's, could someone let me know if the arrow is pointing to it's approximate location please. It's at 397/42 M.10 Soi 14 South Pattaya 2nd Road.

Many thanks in advance. (try again)

Go through the front door of Tim's Bar and walk through...exit the back door and Tim's Hotel is just to your right.

Very nice place and nicely done. Your map is spot on.

  2. Here is the latest update of the confirmations to date.

If you are listed and have revised your plans and cannot attend, please let us know. If you intend to come but are NOT listed, please sign up again below.

And as a reminder, this party is sponsored by Thai Visa for Thai Visa members and a spouse, friend etc.

For example, new members signing up +5 and current members with + 2 or +3 guests unfortunately cannot be accomodated. If everyone were to do that, there would be in excess of 400 people already.

    As admin has already stated;

No name tag = no food and drinks!

We look forward to meeting ALL members, both old and new but please help us keep the attendance limited to Thai Visa members.

    See you all there!

  4. looking for electric hedge trimmer (black & decker or other) in pattaya !

    any adress ?

    thank's

Try True Value on Sukhumvit just past Theprasit Rd. (on the left side) They have a full line of Black & Decker items.

  5. Here's an easy recipe so you can make your own if you would like.....

    Maple

1 pound ground pork (approx. half kilo)

    3 tablespoons maple flavored syrup

    1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon MSG (such as Accent)

    1/4 teaspoon coriander

Combine all ingredients for the flavor of your choice in a medium bowl. Form the sausage into patties and cook in a skillet over medium heat until brown. Makes 1 pound of sausage.

  6. Looking for Graham Cracker or Ginger Snap Cookies, anyone know where I can find them?

On a side note, looking for a farm that grows pinto beans in Thailand (or cheap supplier). Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Greg

    Try Villa, Greg.

I've seen them on rare occasions at Best, but not in the last year. If it's a crust you're after, you can use crushed digestive crackers in a pinch.

    Hope this helps.

  7. In all fairness, the food I had was delicious and the prices were competitive with all the other venues we have checked out to date.

But, as begs said, the parking in the construction lot next door is available today, but who knows when it's going away. It is not owned by Gullivers.

The manager never heard of Thai Visa.

If you like loud hip hop music, the same type you hear at 10,000 bars out in town, then Gullivers is the place for you.

And finally, I agree with Raro in his assessment "artificial cozyness of a train station".

In my opinion, this one gets an 8 on the "Stinkometer"

    post-13660-1175332507_thumb.jpg

  8. No one WHO REGISTERED before the cutoff was turned away. The prospective attendance list was capped at 90 due to preparation of food and space limitations at Berts. The thread was closed 3 days before the event and name tags were generated for those registered, food was prepared and seating arrangements were made.

Had we entertained "walk-ins", 10 pre-registered members would not have had a place to sit. We had some members with computer problems, some who joined Thai Visa the day of the party and showed up that night as well a few who came with the intention of joining Thai Visa "after the party".

    Hope this clarifies any misconceptions.

  9. This thread, as well as the "Unofficial Pissup" thread was closed in order to make one clean "Official Pissup" thread and keep all the sign ups on a single thread.

Now that the party had passed, it had been noted by several members that this thread contained valuable information (maps, reviews, suggested venues, etc.) and should be re-opened. So here it is.....

Feel free to use this thread to post possible venue sites for the next "Official Pissup". The "recons" are helpful to Admin for selecting the next venue and they are a great way to meet and greet new members.

As we get started on our next set of recons, the suggestion was that we meet at 7pm at Tropical Berts this Friday, 23 March and discuss our next recon site.

It should be noted that the recons are not sponsored by Thai Visa. We do this on our own as a get together at our own expense and we do not represent Thai Visa management.

Here are a few of the suggested "key points"to look for in a venue that the members would utilize for an "Official Pissup"....

    1) Accessibility…Does the venue allow for easy access to and from by taxi, car, or motorbike with ample available parking?

    2) Members…Is the management affiliated with TV as a member or a sponsor?

    3) Facilities…Are there facilities large enough to host between 30 and 50 people for either a private party or to reserve a section of the establishment exclusively for the pissup with ample seating available?

    4) Atmosphere… Is the music level at a point where it can still be heard in the background while still holding a conversation without having to shout?

    5) Food and Beverages…Is there food available? If not, is the management amenable to catered food being brought in? Are there mixed drinks and draught beer as well as bottled beer available? If food is available, will the management consider a preferential price for a large buffet?

This list is not all inclusive. Feel free to add anything that was missed.

Here is a map to Berts for those who missed the last party.

  15. There are two lists Buckwheat. I am on one but not t'other. Just confirming booked MH782 KUL to BKK 15:15 Friday 16th so I'll be there.

Sincere apologies Phil.....I just missed you on a re-post...sorry about that. You're on the list now, your name tag is made....c'mon!

  16. I trust there was a reason it was finally closed.

I've got no problem with threads being closed by mods...But a bit of information/feedback would be appreciated. :o

A forum with no posters, or a forum with only one "consensual" view...(as approved by the moderators) isn't much good is it?

As they say "variety is the spice of life" :D
