Who said it was Illegal? Every city in Thailand has companies with agents who work with you on your visas. 100% legal and certified. If you don't know this to be true, then you haven't done your homework. I wasn't complaining in the other posts about the shirtless guys - asking about what was appropriate.

I don't know. The place I go has a big Passport Visa sign out front on a main street and has been in business for years. A thriving business - they work with marriage, property and immigration law. I have actual gone once with a staff member to Thai Immigration and didn't have to wait in line, went right back to the official and she stamped my passport, and the staff member paid her. That is their service - interfacing with Thai Immigration for you, for a fee. There is actually another one of these companies on the same street as the American Consulate. If it's against the law it sure is out there in your face.

you give them your passport and some cash and you get it back with a new visa stamp without having any travelling to do

other than back to the same pub to collect it etc

I'm not a Buddhist but I know a lot of Thai Buddhists who are very serious about their religious and cultural rules, disciplines and behavior. (I'm not talking about Pattaya or Patong or Kho Samui beaches) - I'm talking about the heart of Chiang Mai. Have you even been to Chiang Mai? - there's over 300 Buddhist temples here. I don't make it up that the locals don't like it when farangs (including the Chinese who come and pee in the streets because they saw in in some dumb movie) act like pigs in their city - they have told me, because I learned to speak some Thai and they trust me with telling their truth. In my country/restaurant I would say "put on your damn shirt" but most Thais are be extremely tolerant and no-confrontational with visitors and farang. Trust me, they don't like it and are talking to each other about it.

I appreciate your situation and understand your concern. Some of the replies you have gotten describe scenarios many TV posters have not done or cannot do. Too many falangs live here with their women and have never taken them to their home countries to estsblish citizenship, sent them to school, taught them a trade, or have pensions/investments that will provide for the women after their deaths. That's why a man should always have a woman who can do more than just spread her legs. Preferably, she can do more when they meet, but far too often, that is the extent of her talents. Do both of you a favor, help her gain other talents, skills, and abilties.

Still wear it every month, it's great. I have no problem with 2nd hand clothes.

I also mostly sleep with a fan, keeps you acclimatized to going out in the day.

In almost three years I never had to do a visa run. I give my legit visa guy 11,000Baht a year and that's it - multiple entrée and everything. Never had to make that bank deposit, never go to Thai Immigration. One thing I love about Thailand - If you know the right people, then life is a breeze here.

This is the core of the problem of course. I came across a product in a Leroy Merlin store, a product which is really a self adhesive transparent tape which you apply on the glass pane and it is supposed to increase the insulation properties of the glass. I never tried it but the fact that this product is available in a reputable store makes one think that this might help.I remember this was not an expensive product and one, no doubt, could place a second layer. The transparency of the product was excellent ( this is what the label on the product claimed) You maybe try to find such a product and reduce the heat imput from the environment.

Leave both windows open and let the wind breeze through, it should make a huge difference depending on how high up you are
