  3. First the good news: The Farang Connection will soon be back to what it has always been, a place for good food, good fun, fairly cheap beer. After my good staff walked out while I was in Hospital because they had a job offer for 10,000 less wages, the standard dropped so low, that I sacked all of the rest of the staff and started afresh. We now have a top notch crew once more. The happy hour will be starting after the GP season finishes from 14.00-17.00 even cheaper beer will be available. All other times the price will be menu prices for everyone.

Secondly, the bad news: I will always be a <deleted>.

Thanks to all the non-moaning contingent that have put up with bad service for the last six years, sorry weeks and hopefully this has now been rectified. For those who have taken this God sent opportunity to stick a knife further in our backs, " Go take a hike"

    Thanks folks

  4. Can anyone recommend an apartment or mansion in Amphur Muang Surin? I need a single room in the range 25-40 square meters with air conditioning. Nothing special or fancy - could be furnished, partially furnished, or unfurnished. UBC would be a plus. My daughter is in the kindergarten right next to the San Lak Muang, so that area would be ideal. But anywhere in the city would be OK, as I have a car.

All recommendations and advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Look on my website http://www.farangconnection.com

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I looked on your website, but unless I am missing something, I didn't find any room or apartment rentals at all.

It's under Hotels. There about 6 listed.

  6. Thanks for that! I got more help from your website, than you :)

I was more interested in your comments about helpful girlies meet n greeting you?

Not just idle curosity, a group of guys I know, are looking for a happy place to stay :D

    Dave

If the meeting arrangements are as good as Martin indicated, I would imagine the group of guys seeking accommodation will expand to a possy of perves! :D

Shouldn't that have been " A pussy of perves?"

  7. I would like to apologise to all the customers who used therF.C. yesterday and found theservice not up to it's usual standard. We had four new staff, and myself and Nee were both in hospital.Althugh I only received one complaint, a customer complained about the fish and chips, and even phoned me in hospital to tell me he wasn't paying. Of course I gave him his money back but I later found he had eaten most of it and packed the rest to take home. This piss takng has got to stop. I beleive we were packed solid yesterdayand topped the 20,000 baht mark, so only one unjustified complaint was not too bad. Feel free to letme know of other REAL grievencies

  8. I am new in Thailand and have taken over a (fantastic) maid from Burma. She needs to go back to get a passport and is asking me if I would arrange the Visa. She does have a workpermit from some Stevedoring company until next year, which actually baffles me.

Can anyone give me some advice if this is relatively normal or if I got myself trouble. She does not live in.

    Thanks.

Hi , no, you are not in trouble, but you will need to get that problem fixed ASAP. If you need help [email protected] are you in Bangkok.?

  9. Thanks to all your replies, most of them helpful. The reason is I did not have the 400K in the account, I had it in the safe at home. After being diagnosed with cancer of the eosophaugus in March, I did not even give it a thought that they change the rules twice a day to bugger up people like me who have a tad more on their minds. Immigrationtion even knew about the Cancer, so when they gave me the two months grace, that was another two months I had to wait before admission into hosppital.I just assummed I would do what I did every year. But the date was on me before I knew it. And the guy that reckons I should not be here if I must break into my 400,000 savings is talking out of his rectum. Do you plan on having cancer ?

OK I admit it;s my fault. This is Thailand, I should have forgotten all about the Cancer and concentrated on my visa like a good little ex=pat.

  10. I went as usual in May, after putting 400,000 from one bank to the one I use for visa's. I was told the money had to be in and untouched for three months, so they gave me a non-o and told me to come back in two months.

When they checked my book they saw it had dropped slightly below 400,000 for a couple of days. In fact, when I saw I had gone over I put 128,000 in to make it up to over 500,000. That was no good.

I admit I made an error, but one which I thiught they would look over.

    Now, the question is;

    1. I have a work permit until June 2011.

    2. I have paperwork to prove that since my application last year I paid into this account an average of 160,000 baht a month

    3. I provided a computor print out that in the last two and a half months I had paid 445,000 inti said account.

    4. I provided all the relevent tax forms showing them I am paying Thai income tax.

What else can I do? I was under the immpression that is was 400K or 40K a month, half of which can be provided by your spouse.

So am I to take it that rather than go below 400,000 in your account, it is better to beg for food and drink on the streets?

And I have been legal in Thailand for 12 years.

  11. I was going to post this on the visa section, but as this thread is about me, I will write it here.If any Mod feels it worth duplication, I would be more than happy.

The story started on a cold and windy night, in Old Surin Town (locals table, beer was cold, customers windy)I was eating my Roast Lamb when I suddenly went into convulsions, as a Yorkshire pudding seemed to get stuck in my throat. I could not breath, and eventually washed it away. End of story. It didn't happen again. I mentioned it to my Doctor who suggested a Barium Swallow. That came back stamped " Probable Cancer" No if's or but's just Probable Cancer. I then succumbed to an Endscope and Biopsy. Report returned, everything normal exept small CA 8cm's long in Eosophagus. I was advised to go to Bangkok to have an operation to remove it. We then got put in touch with a local man that has cured dozens of really bad cases, so we decided to give it a go.

As my visa extension was up for renewal, we had to decide which comes first. Catch 22. Pay visa, no op, op no visa.I waited until the day before my Kap Choeng date and trasferred the money from my now cancer account into the account. The herbal treatment seemed to be working so stick with it. No good. Suddenly this year your money has to be in the bank for three months before it is shown. Presumably one must beg for scraps in the street to sustain one self for the duration of the extension transaction.

I was given a three months non-imm and told to come back.

It might be said at this time that I produced a bank statment that I put 450,000 in my account in the last two months, plus offered proof of putting 1,600,000 through said account in the year since my last application. Also Tax deduction forms for the last year, because I do pay Thai income tax. I asked " what about the 40,000 a month, of which 20,000 can come from your spouse.

" No good was the reply.

Yesterday I returned to the mighty Kingdom of Kap Chong, with all my paperwork intact.

" No good" was the same reply.

He then went to point out that I had withdrawn 20,000 baht leaving only 380.000 in the account for a matter of two days. Paid bill Friday, put money in 128,000 monday. Monday afternoon 508.000 in account. Not good. 108,000 over ok. 20,000 under...no visa.

Now I don't want to blow my own trumpet (well not much) but I do more for the tourist section of Surin than anybody. I have an official plaque from the Governer for services provided. Last year I did so well at the Elephant round-up, I got a thank you letter, and invited to be a life member of the Surin Tourist Promotion Assossiation. I even have a work permit until June 2011. Our Pub/Restayrant pulls in more Farang visitors to Surin than anyone else, because we believe we have the top web-site on Surin in the World. In fact it goes on. A few years ago I receved another award for my television programme " Knock Door English" where we roamed Surin, with a TV crew, picking groups of publis sevants at random, and giving them an hours English lesson.

I now have to postpone my life saving operation so that if by any chance it is successful I will still have somewhere to live.

That is not altogether true, although I have one of the quickest speading cancers (CA) with a fatality % of around 90, my Barium Swallow last week shoed a decrease to 2cm on the size of the tumour. Well I'm still happy, although yesterday I was sure I was on the way out. Much better and fitter today though.

    Cheers lads

By the way. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of people who have offered to foot some of the bill for me. Thanks Lads...............this buggers mine.

Besides..............I take enough off you in the pub.

  12. Hi again.

Firstly, the results of my second Barium swallow, three months after the first show a 2cm decrease in the size of my tumour. .....

Anyone else experianced thse problems with Upeer Eosophagal Shpincter pleas can you post. Or best still a doctor that has covered these problems.

By the way, my Tendonitus has reached a peak where it is so painful every morning when I get up it reduces me to tears.

    Yours Martin ( Farang Connection)

If you want advice you need to provide more information.

What type of tumor and how was it diagnosed?

All the hospital results are on an earlier thread from about 4 months ago on this. Might be posted under Farang Connection.

Another update. Last night at 16.30, everything just cleared, and I could drink milk and water and other soft drinks normally again.Still ok this morning. I'm on my coffee injection now.

  13. Hi again.

Firstly, the results of my second Barium swallow, three months after the first show a 2cm decrease in the size of my tumour. So my herbal treatment is at least holding it steady, Unfortunately, two more things have come to light. I say unfortunately, but it might just be fortunataly.

Firstly I seem to have Oesopagal acid reflux, whish is stopping me from eating. I took some tablets and things from the hospital which cleared it for one afternoon. The last week I cannot eat or drink anything. Food goes down, then waits till I drink something. then comes straight back up. Water and milk is the worst, as it will not clear my throat and if idrink it stays in my throat till it comes back out of my mouth, without even trying to go down. I think maybe my LES and my UES are both kaput. The one thing I can say though, is it is not always what I have eaten or drunk comes up, some of it it is of course, but the rest is mostley mucas or bile.

As well as seeing my alteranative doctor, I also have sessions at Raum Phet in Surin, who just fill me full of drugs.

Why don't you go to a decent hospital youmay ask? Myyearly visa extension is due tomorrow and I should be booking into Korat/BKK hospital Fri or Sat.

Talk about a catch 22 stiuation. I could have been cured of everything, and got no visa. or now I have waited I might need the bloody thing.

Anyone else experianced thse problems with Upeer Eosophagal Shpincter pleas can you post. Or best still a doctor that has covered these problems.

  14. I instructed my tour driver to stop at the Irish pub for dinner, but it was closed. Anyone know why? This was Monday.

Obviously, a Mystery Tour - neither the tour driver or passengers knew where they were stopping for lunch :)

Small point of order, this is not an Irish Pub - the Shamrock actually has German connotations. I accept that it looks like an Irish bar but I can assure you that only about 6 tins of Guinness have ever passed over the counter !

Which I think is a pretty good reason why I put Irish/German pub.

  15. I knew you would answer this thread Dave :)

I'll pop in and take a look.

Can't remember ever seeing the one you are talking about Martin, I'll keep away from it though on your advice.

OA is just after the Memorial hotel junction going toward the water tower. Nearly everything I've had from there has gone wrong, and cost me to be put right.

  16. Hello i like to know how many Farangpubs, - bars or Restaurants are in Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Roi Et. Please help me to be updated. Thanks a lot.

There is also an increasing number of Thai establishments that do passable Farang food.

  17. Now, something very strange has happened. When I checked my e-mail, I had one from pay-pal confirming my account had been set up. Everything was in order, it seems I could receive money and send money. I even sent myself an e-mail, for a sterling payment, and it was confirmed. Ok, but when I went on to see how much my limit was, it came back again " Your bank has refused payment" Is it because TiT.?
