In the topic of snorkels on pickups I have seen a few getting around BKK with the top intake facing backwards,

if your just doing a swap & using the standard airbox then K&N is the best. They can be cleaned and last a long time. Not sure if you will feel any noticeable difference will but will let her breathe a bit easier which is always good.

Your car looks very nice, sobmx. Mine is absolutely original, it used to look rather decent but not so nice now (in this photo you can't see the accident on the left front):got any photos of your corolla ? I'm also a KE-70 owner.
Looks tidy ! Slant front but that's a different front bumper on there. Maybe off a ae82 or something, I have seen a few over here with that different bumper. Good to see a original one not butchered !

Thanks very much guys. I wonder why the mechanics were so reluctant to bother replacing it, if a special hard-to-find part isn't really necessary? I'll probably take it back next week after the holiday nonsense is over and try to get them to fix it up - though it runs OK as is, I'd like it to be 'correct' if it doesn't cost too much.
You can easy buy lengths of the correct silicon hose used for vacuum. If you can't find a place local just search on eBay, you can get a full set of all the hoses/clips etc from china for around say 400฿. Or you could just rid of that 2k & get a 4-AGE 16v in there or a 20v ! Got any photos of your corolla ? I'm also a KE-70 owner. Here's mine.

Here's a couple of photos of my Toyota Corolla KE70 with a 20v 4AGE engine. These motors love the high revs. Just incase any of those comments where directed my way.

MMMMM...........Nice Rx3.......... That snow plow works for the time, I was also just ribbing SOBmx I thought that was apparent?
Used to have a 240Z with a front dam like this and the rear whale tail many referred to jokingly as a "book Shelf", but hey it did what it was designed to do and for the time made the lines of the car.. My tail was up closer to the window line though and I think it looked better in that location this sticks out to far past the rear.
It's cool man I was just happy to share my Corolla. I get a lot of questions about it on some corolla pages asking for a front lip the same but I do want a bit shorter and rounder around the edges, not so square . Very nice fair lady z you had ! Don't see many of those here. But there is some very good old Japanese cars here.

Yeah just parked it like that to get a few quick photos, & I don't really like the front lip either. I have had the 'snow plow' comment a few times!! Going to take it off & get another one made up. Yeah i live in Bangkok.
Sweet but what's the snow plow on the front for? You live in Thailand don't ya? BTW kind a missed your parking space ..ImageUploadedByThaivisa Connect Thailand1397393545.655866.jpgImageUploadedByThaivisa Connect Thailand1397393580.174609.jpg

They are more aware then most I'm sure of the 'stress' they are putting the engine through & who cares how much fuel they use.
Redlining a cold engine is just stupid.
Opening the bonnet releases the heat quicker & the same with the buses keeps the air flowing in.
So not really sure what your talking about ?
I keep my Toyota in the redline... Because 4~AGE n/a power !!

I have heaps of Thai male friends, 3 different groups in fact. I go ride BMX at the skatepark in hua mak & suphanburi with heaps of guys all the time. I would say I have 2 Thai guys that are my main friends and have meet a lot of cool guys though them with the same interests riding Bmx, drinking, smoking , old cars , street art what ever . Have another group of guys that I paint with all the time and hang out, go drink and eat & then my more resent group of Thai friends who I have meet though others farangs thanks to our interest in cars and racing them at Gymkhana and other events. I guess it's all because all my friends we have the same interests and that's why we get along.

get used to it EVERYONE hates americans whereever they are. unfortunately online has far too many of them so thats what you are seeing.
So its all about americans? I wonder why they hate americans lol
I don't, but do wonder why you lot tend to be so flaky (false even?) and speak too much.
On your op, I don't know about negative farang but think people fall into one of two categories: those who have realised how it really is here (you need to have been here at least three or four years full-time to quality) and those who have very thick skin.
I have been here approximately 4 months, and I don't need 3 years to learn about the country;
It is a third world country masquerading as a "developing" country; which it isn't.
It is a counterfeit retail mecca for merchants who steal goods from factories in Cambodia and Laos,
And the Chinese will ultimately take over the country the old fashioned way,
they will just buy it,
Everything is for sale here, starting with the women,
Negative you say? Have you seen some of the internet "dating" sites here?
they are loaded, I mean overloaded with girls, "selling" themselves, for a better life, because thailand offers them nothing.
they do have educated whores here, I will give them that
sounds like 4 months too long for you catweazle

Cool thanks.
I just seen on Gymkhana X that the date has been moved again from the 9th of Feb to the 16th of Feb.
IS there any where to go practice in Bangkok? I have found quite a big open area that is free (sometimes there is a bus/truck parked in there because there is a bus depot across the road) and set out a few tires and done a few laps but I'm not sure if I am really allowed to be doing it. The surface is not the best also. So anyone know of any other places to go ? I know they do the D-1 drift competitions HERE but can you go there also for a drive ?
thanks

We got our 100,000B back from the 1st car buyers pretty much exactly 1 year. We bought the Toyota Yaris in November 2012 & the money was in our account in November 2013 give or take a few weeks each side.
So if all the correct paper work etc was done when you bought the car it will be transferred when you are expecting it.

Is a race suit now required to enter Gymkhana events ?
-
Very nice KE70 you got there!! Silver or Blacktop 4AGE you running? Seems like there firewall is untouched? I looking at doing something like yours on my stock standard KE70 I brought last year. Car scene seems to be a bit more quiet up north as I in Lampang... Another option is keep looking for one that been done up, as it might be cheaper in the long run. You done all the work yourself in yours?Do you need a roll cage for the drift events ? & do you know if you need the racing license to enter in the gymkhana events ? I know you don't need a roll cage to go to Bira circuit in your street car on any day if you want to go practice. Would like to know because nearly finished getting my 1982 KE70 Toyota Corolla ready for some fun. Cheers.Couple of photos of her...ImageUploadedByThaivisa Connect Thailand1389685081.192524.jpgImageUploadedByThaivisa Connect Thailand1389685127.274677.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
Hi man,
Thank you very much. Sorry for the late reply I check this thread all the time but only on my phone & didn't even see your post ! It is a Blacktop 4AG-E. Yeah I am not sure of the car scene up north. When we go back to my wifes home in Roi-Et don't really see many old cars or anything as well. Khon Kaen seems to have a few. It has took me quite a while to get into the scene but it is getting better & better. On the firewall it has not been modified and doesn't need to be with the right cooling set up. I would just look for one that is in good condition and had all the hard work done. 90% of them have 4AGE 16v in them. I didn't put the motor or anything in mine it was done at a very good shop but can't seem to remember the name !. I bought it like this with it pretty much everything done to a very high standard with genuine parts. I was looking for months before I found it & it is a KE70 from Japan. I have been upgrading the suspension, new exhaust quite a few things on the interior etc. I am keeping it as period correct as possible so finding the parts I want takes a while, but its part of the fun !
I am more of a 'street racer' and have never been to the track or entered any events, but that is going to change. Planning on entering some Gymkhana and getting some time on the track. I dont have a roll cage & dont really want one but see what happens and will probably end up getting one if it is going to restrict my chances of entering stuff. I hope to put it in some shows and car meets but it all comes down to if it fits with my roster of work.
cheers
Some more photos -- ( the dash picture is a little old, have put a new drivers seat in)

I was going to say only here in Thailand but if you have a car in your 'home' country feel free to share as well.
More interested in the old cars but if you want to share your BMW or Fortuner feel free.
