Asking this for a friend who is doing a 1 year retirement renewal using monthly pension (60k + difference in bank) from overseas with Embassy letter. The documents are all okay but Immigration asked for 1 year bank statements. Last year they asked only for 2 months bank statements. The bank said it takes 7-10 days to get them done but the visa is expiring in 3 days. What to do? Is there any sort of temporary extension to get while waiting for the bank statements?

I am inquiring for someone who is 74 years old and currently in Thailand on a retirement visa (pension + funds in bank combination). They got a visa (not sure O or OA?) at the end of 2019 and are good through 2020. I read that insurance is now required for retirement visas, is that correct?

Is the insurance only needed when applying for a new visa at the embassy? Or also when applying for the next 1 year visa extension inside Thailand?

And what is the difference between an O visa and an OA visa?

I heard that the retirement visa doesn't allow your balance to go below 400k (out of 800k) for the entire year. Does the marriage visa (which is 400k) extension have the same rule? Never below 200k or something like that?

Just one more question, in case I need to extend it again I can do so, right? First 60 days and then another 7 days I believe it was? Or was it another 30 days? But I believe it was 60 days first and then 7 days if needed.

I am currently on a multi-entry O visa based on marriage to my Thai wife.

- My visa expires June 20, so another border run is out of the question.

- My latest entry stamp expires June 8, but I am "auto extended" until July 31 like everyone else.

I now want to switch to a 1-year extension with 400k in the bank. I -dont- have the money in the bank yet but it will be there by the end of this month.

The question now is, do I:

1. Wait until end of July and then do the 1 year extension? I heard reports that some offices don't do 1 year extensions while on the "auto extension".

2. Get a 60 days extension (1900 Baht) before June 8th and then shortly before August 8th I would do the 1 year extension (after the funds have been in the bank for 2 months). That way I would always be kind of "legit" and never really on the auto extension.

I am going for a 90 days ("O" marriage visa) border run to Chong Mek next week. What's the situation there right now? All still like it used to be? Or more strict / problems due to the virus?

I have a marriage visa (1 year) but need to do border runs every 90 days. Planning on going to Chong Mek towards the end of the month as it's closest to me. Is everything still normal as it used to be? No problems? No money to show for just out-in?

I got a multiple entry "O" visa that is still valid for 9 month but had to get a new passport, so the old one was canceled. I still have both passports however. Can I keep using this multiple entry visa even though it's inside the old canceled passport? Or must I get a new visa?

I think only 2 photos then? Because I dont need a Lao visa, I am from one of the exempt countries.

I am going to Savannakhet soon for a multiple-entry visa based on marriage to my Thai wife. From what I have read:

- Nothing has changed since last year? Still the same documents needed?

I am planning on bringing:

- My wife
- Both our passports (hers too, so we can cross the border early) + 1x copy of all pages.

- Passport photo (for me)
- Kor Ror (or something) from the Amphur showing we are still married.

- Original marriage certificate.

- 5000 Baht for the fee.

Am I missing something?

One thing, I have only 3 full pages (dual sided) left in my passport (actually 7 completely empty sides). That should be enough, right? I am from a country that is visa-exempt in Laos, so I only get the in and out stamps. One page will be used for the Thai visa.

I am planning on getting a new passport when returning to Thailand. I assume my multiple entry visa can still be used for the next year as long as I bring both passports? I only have to transfer the stamps, right?

One of the documents required to submit is "education certificates / degrees". I never finished high school but I've successfully ran several companies in the past and am now planning on opening a new one in Thailand where at least 10 Thais will be hired full time (real employees, not just for me to get a work permit).

Is it possible to get a work permit in Thailand without having a high school degree?

I have an internet connection from TOT at our house. The first month, the speed was great. I pay for 10 Mbps. Then, suddenly my speeds dropped to maybe 1-2Mbps. I called TOT (and so did my wife) and they said that there was "a problem" on their end and that it was fixed. The speed was back to 10 Mbps. A few days later, the same thing happened again. Each time I see the "Data Rate / Max Rate" in my router drop to 1-2 Mbps instead of the 10 Mbps I pay for. Each time when I call, they make me go through the whole routine of "please restart your router" and "can you access Facebook?", etc.

After calling 4-5 times about this problem over 2 weeks, suddenly my line goes completely dead. The router can't even connect to the signal. I call them and they tell me that a technician would have to take a look at it, but because it's 8pm I would have to wait until the morning. At 10am the technician comes and the internet is back. After a 14 hour downtime. A few days later, it goes down again. This time for another 12 hours. And yesterday, I had another downtime of 6 hours. So within a week, I've had almost 3 days of no internet, in addition to the constantly reduced speeds the entire month before.

Now, I called again and asked to speak to the supervisor. I explained him the entire history and he basically told me that the reason why I get slow speeds is because they sometimes have to downgrade my package because there are too many people in my area using the internet and otherwise it would "crash" if they allowed everybody the full speed, so I would be downgraded to 1-2Mbps sometimes (which usually lasts the entire day or night).

I asked him why I would then have to pay almost 1000 Baht for the 10Mbps if the 2Mbps package was only around 200 Baht and I was told that "sometimes" it only meant that sometimes I could use "up to 10Mbps". When I asked about the downtime of almost 3 days I was told that they could not guarantee that I would always have internet.

So ...great. In any other country, I would get a refund or at least a better answer. But what can I do here?

TOT is the only internet provider in my area (yes, I'm not in a big city), so I basically have no internet or get scammed for 1000 Baht when I actually get the 200 Baht package and even then I don't get what I paid for because it's constantly down.

What can I do?

You should probably call the ICAO and ask them if you really care about the issue. I doubt someone on this forum could answer this for you better than them. Just a thought.

The money only has to be in the bank for 2 months to apply for an extension based upon marriage.

You can still get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage in Savannakhet with no financial proof needed.

I had it in there for 2 1/2 months last year and they made a huge deal out of it, saying I needed it in there for 3 months when renewing. 2 months only applied when you did the visa the first time. They sent me back home and told me to come back after it was there for 3 months. Even spoke with 4 different counters at Chang Wattana immigration, they all said the same. Not sure if they changed it again, but that was my experience a year ago.
