Getting both sides of the story is irrelevant, the police represent the state and have power, they are foreigners and have none. If they are hoping for an unbiased trial western style they are in for a big disappointment, what they did was foolish in the extreme. Refusing to stop was arrogant and things escalated from there, the RTP can't let this go, the loss of face alone was enormous, they are bound to be locked up for years.

Unless, they have A LOT of money they're in it up to their necks...

The guy is scum,. end of story. Deport him, he didn't;t give due process to the girls, why give him due process? Kick the b@@@@@d out asap.

But that's not the way that extracts the most money, is it? They'll let him dangle, dig a deeper hole for himself while extracting as much cash as they can, then lock him up, and/or deport him...

Maybe normal alcoholic beverages don't really need the suggested lablelling. An easy fix would be to totally ban Lao Kaow, it's the reason that people up north die on the roads. Just give it a try and see how it affects you.

The reason Lao khow is so cheap is to stop the Thai villagers making their own, which probably kills even more people...

statistically speaking, in a group of 20 random expats, you will have at least one or two very shady characters if not outright criminals?

i don't know what the odds are. just a guess.

I'd say much higher than that here in the 21c answer to Tortuga in it's hayday...

Let me explain. This website was founded for expats, as well as wives up men, who habe a problem or another relating to staying in Thailand. We spend a lot of time on browsing Facebook and the likes, because we're in need of banter, expressing our grievances, and the odd divorce specialist. It is not a place where you take pity on your fellow travellers, or offer money for projects or a ticket home to Europe.the public on here is savvy by choice and will not take any chit chat from nobody, rather talking abundantly about the latest mishaps if such and such

    And your point is?

Members of my Thai family have received bills from our local community hospital after receiving treatment for injuries caused when they came off their moto's. They had neither riding licences nor insurance. Fortunately, no other road users were injured. I understand this is normal as National Heath Service's elsewhere will not provide 'free' treatment for road traffic injuries. This being what motor insurance is for.

The way it works is the hospital claim off the gov. insurence you have from taxing the motorbike for the first 20000 Bht of bills, social security or the 30 baht scheme pays for anything after that. If you have no tax you're liable for the first 20k of the hospital bill...

There is a French proverb that says « le ridicule ne tue pas » "The ridicule doesn't kill" which means, don't let the fear of ridicule stop you from doing what you want, or what you think is good !!

Sticks and stones may break my bones,

but names will never hurt you...

Is the British version, don't think that it made it to the "proverbs" list...
