So, without having to scan back thru this l....o....n....g thread, I "think" you said/implied earlier you were drawing social security but having it deposited in a US bank vs a Thai bank via ACH or IDD?   And on your 2018 return did it have any bank acct info on it for payment from or to Uncle Sam?

Asking these questions to try to get a better idea of what might trigger a payment via mail vs direct deposit.

I do not use ACH only my US bank that my SS is dd. Even thou by the IRS I do not have to fill I do every year. As for their web sit and they do agree it is NFG.

  2. I just talked to the IRS on the number that forum member "andy" gave out. (Thanks again) It did take two calls but I was able to give and get info. The lady I talked to was in Pennsylvania. After she understood where I was and what I wanted she verified over the phone my name, my SS# and my Thai address. I was told that the check was mailed to me at my Thai address May 1. I did fill 2018 but not 2019. As for the the usage of the IRS sit here in Thailand I still say its is NFG and very politely I let her know that and she did confirm that they have problems. I don't look for the check any earlier than the ended of next week. My experience with depositing a US Government check was to Bangkok Bank 2008 and it was instantly accredited to my account. That number again 267-941-1000 Be patient and it does work.

The latest I have seen on the IRS website is by the middle of this month. At one time they said by the end of April.

I will just keep checking the get my payment site for updates. Not much more I can do.

I agree. Those of us on SS with direct deposit back home will get the the dole.???? The problem is we have a foreign address and this puts us on the bottom of the shyt can. We will be last. ????

Still waiting on your stimulus stash? The IRS has a new deadline to urge you to act soon if you're considering entering direct deposit information online at "Get My Payment."

The Internal Revenue Service wants people to take action by noon Wednesday if they want a shot at receiving stimulus cash more quickly via direct deposit. Bank account information can be entered at "Get My Payment" at IRS.gov.

And in other news, the IRS said automatic payments will be sent soon to those receiving Social Security retirement, disability benefits, Railroad Retirement benefits, Veterans Affairs benefits or Supplemental Security Income. No specific timetable was given Friday.

If things go as expected, most eligible Supplemental Security Income or SSI and veterans will spot Economic Impact Payments via their Direct Express card no later than mid-May, according to a fact sheet dated May 5 from Direct Express, which is a prepaid card offered to those who do not have bank accounts.

Waiting on unemployment benefits?:Here are some tips on how to make ends meet

Many people already have received stimulus payments of up to $1,200 for singles and up to $2,400 for couples, plus $500 for dependent children ages 16 and younger.

The Treasury Department and the IRS said Friday that about 130 million individuals nationwide received payments worth more than $200 billion in the program’s first four weeks. But more than 20 million payments remained to be sent out.

Many will receive checks if the IRS doesn't have direct deposit information associated with a tax refund for 2018 or 2019. If you owed taxes those years and paid, the IRS would still need direct deposit information.

One way around this is to supply the IRS with direct deposit information via "Get My Payment."

To be sure, the "Get My Payment" tool has had its fair share of technical issues that generated a great deal of anger among many users. The IRS has updated that tool, which went online April 15, and some had success later in the game.

To use the "Get My Payment" tool, you need information from your 2019 return, if filed, and your 2018 return. You'll also need such things as your payment status and your bank account information.

The IRS stated Friday that the number of paper stimulus checks flowing into mailboxes will increase sharply starting later this month.

Geez, guy, as long as you are in hotel you may be better off to relocate to a open, free state like South Dakota and not live under such archaic conditions.

South Dakota Indian tribes have set up checkpoints on reservations restricting ... More:Native American tribes have been hit hard by coronavirus, and ... to get permission from state authorities before closing or restricting travel.

If you cash it at a Bangkok Bank branch it should be $15 plus a Bt3 stamp duty for payment after the check clears.  Or, if the check qualifies, Bt400 plus Bt3 stamp duty before the check clears.   See 1st weblink/snapshot below.

At Krungsri Bank it appears there is a $10 collection fee plus $25 handling fee plus the 3Bt Stamp duty charges.    See 2nd weblink/snapshot below.

You can go on this site to check your payment status. https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment

Nothing on it yet for those getting SSA payments. Checked again this morning.

There is this one if you need to enter payment info.https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here

But it has this at the bottom that page.

It does not work for me and others. As Said it is NFG and under the circumstance there is noway to contact the IRS

That is only for non filers who are not getting SSA and RR and etc. From that unofficial site.

"Payments will automatically be sent to individuals receiving government benefits through Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Railroad Retirement or Veterans Affairs."

Thats the problem. The IRS has not set up a secured sit that we can access. All we can do is set back and wait. as there is no way to contact the IRS at this time.
