  2. Brawl on Soi Marine Plaza

In the end the mêlée was broken up by the arrival of police

At 4am on March 6, Pattaya People journalist Jamon Tetsungnern was riding on Soi Marine Plaza, South Pattaya, when he saw fight between a bunch of tourists. A punch-up was taking place and bottles were thrown. He immediately rolled the camera and a caught these pictures. One man was clearly seen with a bloodied mouth and just when things looked as though they might calm down, more fists were thrown and the fight continued.

In the end, the melee was broken up by the arrival of police. Everyone quickly dispersed and there were no reports of any arrests or serious injuries.

  3. Russian man arrested after a morning of shoplifting inside the Royal Garden Plaza

Pattaya Police received a telephone call from a security guard at the Royal Garden Plaza on Pattaya Beach informing them that a Russian man had been apprehended and accused of shoplifting. Police Lieutenant Colonel Anan responded to the call and escorted MR. Sergei Ivanov aged 40 back to the stationhouse along with a number of items he was alleged to have stolen. The man had apparently entered a number of shops within the plaza and stolen selected items from each shop. The items held by Police as evidence included two Nautica Branded shirts, Lee Branded jeans and two Domon branded T-shirts. The total cost of all the items was 8,220 Baht. Speaking through a translator, Mr. Ivanov confessed to stealing the items but did not give an insight into the reasons behind his actions. I guess he must have lost his Marbles..or forgotten his Roubles.. :o

  4. Does this mean there will be a tax reduction on products like

    Solar Water heating

    Wind generators

    etc

The only products I could find were outrageously expensive.

Renewable energy sources such as solar power, wind and hydropower represent only 1% of Thailand`s electricity generation.

The government have said that they will provide incentives for the purchase of power generated by renewable energy such as tax credits, priviledges and subsidies. These incentives seem to be directed towards the manufacturers and suppliers not towards the public, but this could change. The Board of Investment has designated solar cell manufacturing as a specially promoted industry.

So to answer your question it seems at the moment the purchaser of the product will have to rely on the manufacturer/supplier to pass down any subsidy to the retail point of sale outlets :o

  5. 600 Thai Cops Fail Traffic Law Test - AFP

BANGKOK, Thailand - More than 600 policemen in the Thai capital have temporarily lost the right to issue tickets to motorists after failing a test on traffic law, a senior police officer said Monday.

The police department last month tested 4,475 officers on their knowledge of traffic law, and almost one in seven failed to show adequate knowledge, said Maj. Gen. Montree Jamroon, a deputy commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

"A total of 665, accounting for about 14 percent of the traffic policemen in Bangkok, failed the test on traffic law and they will not be allowed to issue tickets until they pass," he said.

Those who failed the test would have to take it again within six months, said Montree.

Bangkok drivers have long complained about the seemingly arbitrary enforcement of traffic laws.

The cops failed their test on traffic law....now I understand why I see Thai cops, parking in restricted areas, speeding, driving carelessly, going the wrong way up one way streets and not wearing helmets etc..........it`s because they don`t know any better....... they haven`t passed a test...... :o

  6. I have been using the post shop at carrefours to send letters home..

Stamp price is 17 baht but they have added 5 baht for service...very fair and convenient.

Yesterday I went to post a letter....29 baht ,he said

The price has now increased...still 17b for a stamp...

I refuse to be ripped off and took my letter back..

Does anyone know if there are outlets that sell stamps?or have a reasonably priced service?

Soi post office is the obvious answer.

The Dusit resort gift shop will sell you the stamp and will post them for you free of charge. :o

  7. If you come across a plump, juicy soi dog while driving, make sure you aim for the head so you won't mess up the meat. Same goes for cats, but you probably have to have the skills of Mark Schumaker to get one of those...they are quick! :o

    >>>oh and by the way....Where did you last see a plump juicy soi dog.....you want to be careful the owner might be after you..

Most of the ones I see are thin, starving creatures with barely enough meat to cover their bones :D

  8. If you come across a plump, juicy soi dog while driving, make sure you aim for the head so you won't mess up the meat. Same goes for cats, but you probably have to have the skills of Mark Schumaker to get one of those...they are quick! :o

Schumaker would certainly have to improve after his dismal performance in Australia this weekend...Schumaker 0 Dogs 1..

  9. Please guys and girls...

I have just got my ticket,, gatwick - bkk... Phuket air, i thought i had got a real bargain with this one,, until i read the posts relating to phuket air...

I am really tempted to cancel and pay the extra for a content flight not a total worry for the next 6 days....

Please guys,,anyone have some good reports about this airline...

    thanks....

.....Silence is Golden....sorry mate not heard aGood report yet :o

  10. I was considering flying with them, purely because their prices looked very attractive....so I did a little research and found that they seem to be strugggling...their planes are old and it is not uncommon for them to cancel flights at the last minute...thus causing many problems for passengers.....

Some people even wonder if they will last through the low season.

Qatar airlines on the other hand offer quite a good service at a reasonable price with minimum stop over times in the middle east.

I suppose at the end of the day you get what you pay for.

  11. Well lets hope that one of the caring charities can put him under their wing..

Eddie's too old for that. He's experienced life in a 5* hotel - (complete with his benefactor falling through the ceiling). He's hungry for more. He won't want to live in a dormitory with Father Joe's urchins.

The 11 yr old seems almost feral.

yes probably with the influence of the older boys and the perves...but there must be hope for him...christ he`s only eleven...

  12. When ever I go somewhere in a baht bus with my landlady, I ask her at the end how much, she tells me 20 baht, I give it to her and she gives it to the driver.

I know it's double what it should be, but don't worry about it. Of course, when she bargains with a vendor and saves me money, it more than makes up for the little extra the baht bus guys gets.

For example, I had an airconditioner installed recently, she got me a 1,000 baht discount on the price. When the crew showed up to do the install, she actually bartered them down another 500 baht !

(no, I'm not sleeping with her or anyone else in her family). I think she likes me because I pay my rent in advance, in cash !

Do you supply airconditioning units in all your landladies rooms?? If so there`s no wonder she gives you a 1000baht discount and you even pay for the fitting. :o

  13. 30 year old finnish man busted for having sex with 11 year old boy

At 2pm on March 2, a host of police dignitaries took part in the arrest of Miika Petteri Pitkanen, 30 from Finland, for having sex with an underage boy. Senior officers involved in the bust which took place in the man's room were Police Major General Panya Maman, Thai tourist police chief; Police Lieutenant Colonel Wuttichat Luaensucant, chief of Pattaya Tourist Police; Police Lieutenant Colonel Supaset Chaorpchai, deputy superintendent of the Tourist Police division; Police Captain Siam Insuwano, deputy investigations inspector; and Police Captain Yotwat Suwannoi.

The arrest took place in room 005 at the PR Inn on Soi 12. When the police knocked on the door, a boy around 11 years of age answered it. Officers entered the room and saw the Finish man lying on a bed with another boy around 15.

The man and the boys were taken downtown for interrogation. It was learned that Pitkanen, a mechanical engineer who specialises in welding in a Finish shipyard, came to Bangkok two months ago, and after staying three weeks travelled to Pattaya where he stayed a month. He stayed at the PR Inn on Soi 12 and then moved to the Marina Inn on Soi Yen Sabai. During all of this time, he had been living with his fifteen year old lover Eddie.

It was at the Marina Inn he met an eleven year old boy known as 'Nin'. He had been hanging around the hotel with some of his friends soliciting farangs for sex. It's believed the boy sniffed glue and took Yaba.

The trio set off for Bangkok where they stayed another two weeks. During this time the Swede had an accident falling through a roof from the pool lounge of a hotel. He spent some time in Chulaongkorn Hospital, after which he returned with the two boys to Pattaya.

When the eleven year old was interviewed by police, he admitted to fellating the thirty year old man on two separate occasions and masturbating him on three. At his interrogation Pitkanen said the only money he gave the boy was for food – around 200 to 300 baht a day.

Miika Petteri Pitkanen will face charges on three counts: first for having in his custody a boy under fifteen without parental consent, secondly for sexual intent, thirdly for having sex. If convicted he could face 15 years for the offence.

When Pitkanen was locked up, he expressed little anxiety about his own well-being, instead expressed deep concern for his fifteen year old lover Eddie.

    -Pattaya City News

Interesting comments here. As I said earlier, the boys were not so innocent.

Innocent until some pervert corrupted them...poor kids....

  14. Perehaps this "Dead dog" thread will overtake the "Rain..." thread? :D

    yeah, let's bet !

or even better: let's make a poll about it - in a separate thread ! :D

I hope no money changes hands as gambling on dogs is illegal :D:o

what about other commodities - like Chang ?

and also - perhaps winner will use those money for dog's charity - to make welfare work for stray dog? may be concession would be made for such gambling - for the sake of dogs ?

Are you talking about elephants or beer?

Maybe if people drank a few less beers they could donate the saving to the welfare of the dogs...... or does this sound Barking mad?? :D
