I had a GF in Vietnam named Tak, my next GF was named Toe. I tried and tried but could not make the trifacta by finding a girl named Tik.
Is Tik a Thai female name? I can't say I recall any ladies named Tik in Thailand.
Mines called Tik

"We normally take them to hills behind Patong" - I take it said hills are sufficiently far enough from Patong?

Hillary 2 if I'm not mistaken, Not that it matters. Not nice to see his head get kicked into the kerb like that. Looks like he left and then decided to go back and start the fight. As you guys here rightly say, always best to just walk away wherever possible.

Sod that for a game of soldiers

Thermae is a Bangkok Icon. I'm sure many of the kind TV folks will have nice descriptions of the place. It's sort of like Star Wars bar. Me English teacher? lol, no I just though "at it" sounded funny. Thermae is on Sukhumvit between Soi 13 and 15 under the Bush Garden bar and Ruamchitt Hotel. Highly recommended, no cover charge anytime
Many descriptions, but not sure many would be 'nice' probably better off just drinking on the pavement bars they set up. IMO

I love the sound of a low pitched, sexy French woman speaking English with a French accent. That sound cannot be beaten.
Agreed.. Although if it's the sexy almost whisper like, she doesn't need to speak English with her accent, French will do

The Riverside
328 Tipchang Rd
Lampang

Riverfront restaurant, extensive Thai menu, Good value - look at the set lunches!
We particularly enjoyed the Beef in Red Wine on our last visit.
You will need Google maps to work your way through the one way system or PM me for directions.
+1. there is also an inexpensive but pretty decent restaurant called aroy one baht 5 mins away, plus weekend Market is ok I guess. Not a tremendous amount to do in Lampang too be fair.

Things like razor blades and aftershaves are expensive here too. Mind you they're not cheap in the u.k. I use the gillette fusion pro-glide blades which I've not seen here as yet. Decent bed linen and towels aren't cheap either. And if you like certain condiments (hp, branston pickle etc) stock up on those. There's probably a hundred things, so just concentrate on looking forward to your new life and anything you might have forgotten can most likely be sourced here anyway. Good luck!

I've been here 8 months, live alone and settle in more and more each day. I agree with the above two posts. Each to their own though I guess.

hub of deadly water, jet ski scams, tuk tuk maffia, taxi scam, dangerous hotel rooms, deadly cocktails, rapes & murder

nice safe family destination, only 100 million baht for TAT to promote that in international brochures
And the relevance to this particular topic is......?

Just go see a doctor, it's not difficult.

Is it totally inconceivable that something unexpected has happened rendering these people penniless/homeless? It happens all over the world. When I worked in both NYC and London I'd often give some loose change. Why does it have to be a scam? I've only been living here 7 months so maybe I am missing something? Also, genuine question, Does it follow that the 'your' embassy has to help if you are destitute?

Hats off to her. I hope she does 'inspire millions' to take a leaf out of her book.

Invest your money offshore (high dividend yield stocks, bonds etc) and drip feed the money in as and when you need it. Just my tuppence worth.

Brilliant thread, I can't stop chuckling away

Reading this thread has made me hungry for pretty much all the things listed! Can see myself over spending at the supermarket later now.. Haha

Surely the view from scirocco takes some beating, although the wallet would also take a beating. Any of the restaurants in the mandarin oriental hotel are superb. Lord Jims is my favourite, just make sure you get a window seat for the best river views. Enjoy

The burden of so much debt is horrible to have to endure. I had a friend back in the u.k years ago that took his own life due to such circumstances. It's such a shame, and surely there is another solution or somebody somewhere that can help. May she rest in peace..

7 day grace period? I was 7 days late in reporting to Bangkok immigration for my 90 day extension and got hit with a 3500bt fine, I have the receipt. So, I would suggest it doesn't exist or depends on the mood of the officials.

Treat her to a cple nights at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Bangkok. IMO by far the best hotel this city has to offer.

Agreed. My understanding is that we all get bitten, but some just don't know it as the body shows no reaction.
