    1.  Some have personal relationships in Thailand, including marriage and children but unable to legalize stay with closed borders.

    2.  Some have homes here and normally live here most of year.

    3.  Some have drained available funds and can not afford the costs involved for transportation that may be totally lost without any travel.

    4.  Some are very concerned about moving from a low COVID location to extreme pandemic areas.

    5.  Some have normal employment here but unable legalize due border crossing issues.

    6.  Some just like Thailand.

    7.  Some are probably eating the wrong berries.

    8.  Some live only for today.

    Very well said!

  2. Russell I think you should reread my post. "Ken, with the visa that you have you do not do 90 day reports to the IO, instead you must do a border run every 90 days and when you re-enter then you must do a TM30 under the normal conditions but with the Covid-19 you cannot do your 90 day border run so you do not do your TM30 either."

Again, my visa expired on February 17, so I was in Thailand from February 1 when I did a border run which gave me an additional 90 days to April 30.  So being that April 30 I cannot do a border run it would have been 90 days in Thailand and indeed I would normally have to do a 90 day address report if I didn't leave Thailand. As I said the IO said no need to do anything including the 90 day address report because of Covid 19. And nothing to do with a TM 30 which by the way I did on line anyway on February 2.

Russell, you might also reread sjbrown post as it was quite clear what he had and what he was doing. I only went to Korat immigration to confirm because of so many many confusing reports in Thai visa.

  3. I was in a similar situation. My 1 year multiple entry O visa (marriage) from Savannakhet expired on February 17, 2020. I did a border run on February 1, 2020 giving my current stay to April 30, 2020. Just in case, as I wasn't sure, I went to Korat immigration 2 days ago.  They confirmed that my stay is good until July 31 and no need for 90 day address reporting.  Actually I had tried to do a 90 day report on line as I have done so in the past, but the site would not accept the application. So while at Korat immigration they did confirm that no need for a 90 day reporting of address.

  4. Just got back from my local amphur with my wife. Attached is a copy of the "updated" Kor Ror 2, side 1 and side 2.  We were informed that the name change document did not come into being until 2551 and we were married in 2547, so no such document exists.

And when I go to Savannakhet in April, I will take the Kor Ror 2 with me, but I have no intention to show or give them the Kor Ror 2, unless specifically asked.

  5. Got the user name and password for my wife.  That worked fine.  But I have just returned from a trip to Laos, Nong Khai friendship bridge and have tried to fill in the form.  When I try to "record" it, I keep getting a pop up that says "Import Data in Sequence (1) is incorrect.  Please correct before submitting."  I have use the drop down menus that are available, but no matter what I enter I can't get past this.  Anybody, any thoughts?

Online TM 30 is for hotels only that's what I was told last week so you can't do Tm30 online it has to be done in person at your local immigration office unless something new online has started in the last week?

Sorry, but you were told wrong.  Several people have already reported that they did this successfully as has been reported a few weeks already.

I just tried. You just get a page which says "under construction", applications to be made in person, via an "authorised person", or by registered mail.

I just tried also and got the same as you.  It worked this past Friday when I submitted the report and I got my confirmation number.  Will wait a bit before I make the trip to immigration.  Maybe it will be fixed by then.

  8. I just returned from Vientiane last Wednesday.  I went with a UK friend who was applying for and O visa based on retirement.  He had his bankbook details, Thailand address, etc.  The officer insisted he must also have a bank letter and refused him the O visa.  He got a tourist visa and will have to go back again in 60 days with the bank letter to get the O visa.  Oh well.

And that would be last week Wednesday, August 10.

  9. Thanks Ken for the update thumbsup.gif

Have I got this correct , So this time you were never asked by the immigration officer about the the TM 30 form in any way ?

What do you think may have been different if your wife had been with you ?

Basically you have it correct. They did not say anything about whether my Thai wife had filed a TM 30 form. They only asked if my wife was with me. And actually they never have asked me personally about this. Last year the officer told me I had to bring my wife with me next time, but not saying the reason, and I said "sure". Of course, as said, I did not bring her yesterday. My original reason for starting the thread was because some friends in the village were telling me that they were recently getting hit with the fine and their wives were with them.

So yesterday, if I had taken the wife with me, I think they would have asked my wife about it but who knows. As mentioned, I had recently made a trip to Laos and on my return, my wife did file a TM 30 via registered mail (EMS). She never got any kind of acknowledgment back from them, but I did have copies of the completed form as well as The EMS receipt with a printout of the tracking showing that it had been delivered. Again, they never asked and I did not volunteer.
