  1. No that is not an option - you convert to non immigrant Visa and then wait 60 days to extend and still requires you return 30 days later after review if for marriage. But multi entry visas do seem to still be available at most locations and indeed that fits your situation as you have said.

Believe some offices will do the conversion and accept the extension on the one day IF the financials are in order.

  2. Sorry about this but what is an address report. I have had many work permits and am now on my 3rd retirement visa and have never been asked for this

You should have been attending immigration every 3 months to make this report ( or alternatively doing it by post)

There is a fine associated with failing to make reports so I suspect you have been doing something !smile.png

  3. You should check out doing the crossing to the Andaman Club.

    Check this out !

You can drive direct to the Andaman pier and just pay for the boat trip + the visa cost for entering Burma. No need to take advantage of any of the hotel "offerings" although you can walk around or sit on a comfortable sofa whilst awaiting the return trip.

  4. There are no 30 day visas!

As an American you are permitted to enter Thailand on a 30 day "visa exempt " entry.

Some airlines will be reluctant to board you if you have no visa and do not have an onward flight.

Obtaining a tourist visa would ensure a problem free journey using a one way ticket.

Have you thought your plans through?

You will need to address issues such as appropriate visa, work permit and depending on where you plan to teach a teaching licence.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will come along and give you some advise.

  5. The vast majority of interactions between heath care professionals and patients do not require that the heath care professional wear gloves!

Hand washing is by far the most important technique associated with reducing the risks of "cross infection". Health care practitioners should wash their hands prior to and at the end of any individual patient contact.

Many procedures may require the use of gloves which may be sterile or simply "socially clean".

Giving a simple injection for example would not necessarily require the use of gloves but undertaking a major burn dressing would mandate not only the use of sterile gloves but a sterile gown, a face mask and cap.

What fascinates me about Thai hospitals is the overuse of face masks. I have yet to ascertain why the use of masks is so popular. I have given up asking the reason for masks as the question causes embarrassment and an inability to provide a coherent answer !

It pleases me that the "lay" person is beginning to hear the message about cross infection risk but do not be fooled into thinking that "good practice" is equated with the use of gloves !

  6. From the same web site the requirements for a single entry "o" visa seem to be as follows

    REQUIRED DOCUMENTS :
The applicants must submit the following relevant documents depending on the purpose of their visit.
Basic Documents requires by all types of Non-Immigrant Visa.
Visa application form completely filled out
Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months and its copy
Two (2) recent 2 x 2 inches photographs (taken within the past 6 months)
Evidence of adequate finance (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family)
Letter of acceptance from the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (Alien Occupational
Control Division, Department of Employment, Tel +662-245-2745, 245-3209, 617-6578, 617-6584
Fax: +662-6176576, 245-2593) *(Please see below)
Note: The Royal Thai Embassy reserves the rights to request for other additional documents, depending on the type of Non-Immigrant Visa
  7. The following link is to the Thai Embassy website in London and there is no mention, for single entry to visit Thai spouse, of the requirement for 800,000 baht is says 20,000 baht/person or 40,000 baht/family. http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/49

The 800,000/65,000 baht is for a 1 year multiple entry application, etc.

Hull appears to be running their own show with different ideas! I have also checked with a friend of mine who has worked in the Thai Embassy for over 25 years and she has told me that there have been no changes.

A more careful examination of that web site would have revealed the following !

    "Category "O" with multiple entries

    Pension earners or Applicants over 50 years of age, following document is required;
    - Pension statement if the applicant is a pension earner, or
    - Proof of income with a minimum of £1,400.00 per month or
    - Thai Spouse visa with a copy of marriage certificate and passport or Thai ID of spouse and (3 months bank statement showing monthly income of more than
£1,400.00 or £16,500 anuually for those who have been issue category O with multiple entries)"
