  1. As long as I don't have to scrape him up off the floor as he's crying, saying his head hurts (yes, it's happened before, never again!), up to him!

I have zero sympathy for someone who doesn't wear a helmet. Why do they do it? To look cool? "Look at me, I'm just like a local". Just don't get it!

  2. I live in CM and I am in Krabi now on holiday, been here the last week. I drove down to Ao Nang yesterday at 5pm and it is very very quiet.

I wanted to go to my favourite Curry restaurant, but was closed!

There is no-one on the streets but there are a few small shops and restaurants that are open.

I would say 95% of everything is closed, compared to normal.

Being honest, we are loving it, staying at Klong Muang Beach at Dusit Thani Beach resort.....breakfast is surprisingly busy with Thai tourists, but the beach and pool are almost deserted from 10am on, so not sure where the Thai's are going? Day trips I presume.

Every day so far, we have almost had the beach and pool to ourselves, very relaxing and very peaceful!

  3. I found this on the internet dated today 16th Dec 2020.....

"In addition, BA will not operate to Sydney or Bangkok until the beginning of the winter 2020/21 season on 30 October next year. It will also suspend flights from Gatwick to Costa Rica’s capital San Jose for the summer from 17 April 2021.

A BA spokesperson said: “We are sorry that, like other airlines, due to the current Coronavirus pandemic and global travel restrictions we are operating a reduced and dynamic schedule.

“We will be in touch with any customers whose flights are affected and advise customers to check ba.com for the latest flight information.”

So, that just leaves Eva at the moment.

That correct at many offices. Chaeng Wattana certainly requires you to update your bank book on the day you return to prove the 400k baht is still in the bank.

No problem, as the 400k won't ever move from my account, but means I need to take a visit to the bank (yet again) for yet more paper in CM. Don't understand why you can't just show them the balance on your phone online banking and then they tick a box to say they've seen it?

  5. I was in a similar position, but haven't left since last year when I got my Non-O Multi Entry from Ho Chi Min.

All a bit of a polava doing it this way, small forests have disappeared, what with number of bits of photocopied paper required!

I much prefer leaving the country every 90 days, so much easier and hassle free! No re-entry permits needed when you take a holiday, no 90 day reporting, no visits to Immigration, no waiting around, no annual visits etc etc.

You make it sound as though you showed the "money in the bank" when you went BACK to Immigration AFTER the 1 month consideration? Is that correct? I showed it at the extension application stage. Or do you have to do it again when you go back?

  6. 100% possible.

I applied for my 2nd daughter's (me UK, mother Thai) FIRST UK Passport at VFS in Chiang Mai around 30th September, got the new passport (VFS call you to pick up) around 24th October!

Didn't get any call or email from UK Passport Office, apart from a Covid delay email , no further info requested. I thought it was pretty quick!

Happy days! The staff at VFS were really helpful, they have a checklist to make sure everything being sent is correct.

One thing to remember is you need a copy of the witnesses passport as well!

  7. I have a similar question on this subject if someone can advise.

What is the LATEST you can apply?

EG. my 60 day extension was from 27th Sept.

How many days do they need to process the marriage 1 year extension and also once the application is "under consideration" are you ok until they make the decision, even if your 60 day extension expires in the meantime?

  8. Did my first 60 day extension at CM Immigration (near Airport) last week.

Same as OP, my Non "O" Multi Entry permission expired in June and the visa itself  expired beginning September.

Quite straightforward, docs as per Ubonjoe's list.

Went at 1.30pm, not too busy, out at 2.45pm.

Got 60 days from 27th Sept, so good until Nov 26th Nov. 1900 bht.

Next step, 1 year extension based on marriage, put 400k in bank last month, was advised to apply for that mid-October (approx 45 days before expiry of the 60 day extension).

  9. Great post, I am in exactly the same situation, on a Non Imm "O" Multi Entry for years, wife and kids etc.

Was going to go down to CM Immigration tomorrow to do exactly the same thing, enquire about 60 day extension and chuck a few quid in the bank account, to get the 1 year extension based on marriage during those 60 days.

You saved me a pointless trip!

Just one question? You say your Non "O" had expired, do you mean the actual visa itself OR your last 90 day stamp had expired? Just curious!

"And thank you Tanoshi for pointing out in another thread that multi o visa holders are not freeloaders. ???? ( I recall )"...so true, nothing to do with money for a lot of us, it's just the Non "O" Multi is more suitable for my lifestyle, I don't want to get a re-entry permit every time I take a holiday abroad, as an example!

  10. "Commercial flights arriving daily, from lot's of destinations across the globe. Plenty of flights to be had. Which this announcement even dumber, as flights never stopped... Options are a more limited than usual, and fares might be more expensive, but again, plenty of commercial flights arriving and departing daily."

Really? TG916/TG917 BKK - LHR has been flying all through this. Try and book a flight on one of those flights!

  11. To ten OP, yeah it is an issue.

I got my last Non "O" ME from HCMC. It's valid until Sept. However, I am a bit concerned about doing a border run when my current stamp runs out or post waiver 31st July, whichever is applicable. In my case, it will be 31st July.

My concerns are, will they let me back in? Will there be extra hoops eg. Covid tests, $100k insurance cover and anything else they dream up between now and then!

I could get a 60 day extension at Immigration, but that is not a long term solution if extra measures like above are bought in. Maybe they will change the rules for getting a Non "O" ME? They stopped them almost overnight from London, only a small step to stop them from elsewhere!

I personally like the Non "O" ME, it fits in with my lifestyle perfectly (no messing with immigration and going back and forth trying to meet the requirements eg. your photo didn't show your legs in the picture etc etc) BUT I am now thinking about the 1 year extension and bring over 400k could be the only real solution moving forward.

For me, it's not the money, it's the convenience of the Non "O" ME.....I think it's prudent to have a backup plan in these times!
