So, there is no truth in the story that the original tyres fitted to most new vehicles are to keep the price down (with exception perhaps of performance cars)?
I got over 90,000km and was so happy with the roadholding and braking etc with the Dunlop LT 34 tyres fitted on our Toyota Vigo that I went looking for the same tyre deliberately to replace them. They were still good and not down to the safety bars at 95k that I still have them in the garage. I only changed them as relatives were coming from overseas and it was rainy season and we would be doing some high mileage over the month they were here. I later kicked myself for doing it. Might have got to 100k before reaching the safety bars.

How did he manage to speak through swollen lips and broken teeth?
Possibly he swore that on The Koran. Somebody exploded that bomb as a terrorist act for some ideological cause. I am sure that the Russian police have valid lists of ideological suspects, same as police everywhere.

Perhaps they should operate within the laws! I compare 'under the laws' to be similar to 'under the radar'.
Definition of under the radar
: not getting attention : unnoticedHow about, "under protection of the law."???

I think I'm changing my name to Thomas because I'm doubting this a lot.
With the figures above I make that an average of 76 foreigners "arrested" every day (28,000 divided by 365) and turning away an average of 23 people a day during the 76 day period between Oct 1 and Dec 15.
Even assuming the 28,000 "arrests" were made by all branches of the police here, the same police force that takes days/weeks/months to issue an arrest warrant for one of their own, something isn't right in their statement.
Either that or I'm living in a bubble with the rose tinted glasses on again........................
Yes some of those numbers do seem a trifle suspect. TIT !

Loved the story about the fake relies at the crocodile park. BTW: I have been using Danny Kaye''s version of mad dogs as my ringtone for 5 years now. A very distinctive ring.

Bit confused about the use of the word "seemed" here. Her height and skin colour aren't in doubt, and she's most likely to be local. Does that mean she seemed to be a woman?

As I understand it getting a Visa to go to the states can be difficult if the women does not have some thing here in Thailand to come back to. Such as a house or I have heard 200,000 baht in the bank.
I know one lady that tried it with her boy friend and she said that she had two little kids to come back to and she does but they said no. Even though the Boy Friend has more than enough to support her if she decided to stay there. Which she would not do. I have heard now that the easiest way to get one is to go for a wife visa.
I had a friend who has to use a walker and when his wife was in talking to the consulate about getting the visa he broke in and said I need her she is my care giver. She got the Visa.
Forget Canada they are even harder.
Yes this could be a problem for her and she had all the right plans. Many countries require to show a reason why the girl has something to come back to and not abscond and overstay. I hope she has books of accounts records and a couple of years of old booking diaries for the salon to help her show bona-fide intentions.
I know this can be a big ask because so many Thai businesses are run on a top-up cell phone and a small plastic ice bucket with a bowl on top for the coins. As others suggest, proof of owning property or a longstanding bank account on her own name with good use history and 200k or so in it are good options.

Who needs trade with the millions of dollars I am sure they still get from U.N. countries even if election aid has been cut. It never stopped before no matter what dire threats were made and no improvements were usually ever seen.

I realized that after others pointed it out. Wrote the message quickly and did not think much of it. Misuse of prepositions... but I think everyone got the point. So thanks...
Never mind. It wasn't the worst part of the article/thread. I don't know what about everyone else thinks, but I am sure he didn't need the rest of the world to know his gf was a TS. The journo could have used the word "partner" and a Thai name. No one would have been any the wiser. But no, gotta milk every last sensational bit out of every story.

Here's an idea. Make all the cheap Chinese charter flights use. U.T. or Phuket.

No one deserves a beating. Losing one's cool is just a symptom of inferior genetics. However, when I move into a neighborhood I usually make sure that it meets my standards of living.
Point 1: If this guy moved in before the bar ever opened up, then he should have known better. (still doesn't deserve a beating)
Point 2: If the bar opened after he moved in then he is in another predicament. And, could he have called on the BIB's for help?
I think, as others pointed out, that he should have sent his fairer sexed partner.
Seems Norwegians are getting in all sorts of problems over noise lately... wasn't the guy who turned off a Thai's motorcycle Norwegian?
I think I know what you are trying to say but Point 1. does not say what you meant it to. The way you wrote it they are the same!!! But I agree with what you meant to say, (I think.)

Americans can do what they want ...
OOPS. Well yes!!! An annoying episode that most of us with cars or trucks have experienced. Just not handled in the best way. I wouldn't be parking there again, anytime soon. At the very least, you might end up with some anonymous paintwork scratches. This is the world hub of "FACE"!!! They might consider that you have started something that only they can finish, their way!!! Perhaps now might be a good time to buy a carton of the lady's best oil. If you are lucky it might be seen as a peace offering. Just don't park there while buying it, just in case.....

Hmmmm Today's news: Six dead after US Amtrak train derails and plunges off bridge near Seattle
"The derailment happened on the first day that Amtrak trains began using a new track between the cities of Tacoma and Olympia in Washington state, according to a news release from the state's transportation department.
The train was making an inaugural run for higher speed service, and local officials had reportedly warned of dangers.
Seventy-eight passengers and five crew members were aboard when the train derailed about 64km south of Seattle just before 8am (local time) Amtrak said."
So how many level crossings or bridges over Highways will the new line have?

What a horrific crime - trying to cross an imaginary line on a giant, round mass moving through space at 67000 miles an hour!
So glad we are forced to pay to be "protected" from becoming victims of such atrocities!
Maybe they should build a "Friendship Wall" a la Trump to completely prevent this?!
Wasn't that a "Menagerie Lion running round the centre of the earth"????

S.O.P in most countries. Check the usual local shops for faulty stock first before bothering to look further afield. Criminals are very often helpfully stupid and this approach frequently pays good dividends.
