    Will Advice

I do not know. That is what a lawyer told me. I know 'nuffing'.

    Will Advice

I believe a Will in Thailand has to be in Thai to be legal / be of any use. My Will is in Thai and the lawyers provide a copy of the draft in English. (One post immediately above suggested a Will in English would do .. I have read that it wont and OHM confirmed this).

    Will Advice

Yesterday I signed/completed my Will using a law firm called OHM. They are in Naklua. Easy-ish to find as they are in the BOLT App and on internet. Well ..you can get close to the correct place ... but they have no sign saying OHM. It is confusing. But if you see a shop front saying visa appllications etc done .. that will be them. (I thought OHM was the initials of the company but it is the name or nickname of the owner .. but OHM Naklua search will find them .. they have a different name too but I will leave that there) Mine was a very simple Will. No property .. just cash in bank and some valueable personal effects They charged 5,000 baht and in the future will charge my son 30,000 to be executers to get the cash from the bank for him. As there is a fair amount of money in my bank it would be crazy not to do a Will and let Kasikorn have it and I was happy with OHM's charge / future charge. They are very helpful, friendly and efficient in person. One strange-ish thing they told me was about why they put my copy (and did same thing to their copy) of the Will in an envelope which was sealed up with substantial tape and the seal signed many times by me. It is because if the beneficiaries see the will it is void by Thai Law. I was going to send my son a copy but hey ho. I better not. Just told him I have done a will and joked it was going to be donated to a retirement home for ex Go Go dancers. The envelope has a huge label in Thai which says I assume, it is my Will and only to be open by authorised legal type people. So there you go ...
  4. I have not read every post in this topic so forgive me if the following has been discussed. In my experience any branch can provide a letter that proves you have an account with Kasikonrn. BUT ... only the main branch can provide a letter that itemises 12 international imports (65,000 baht income minimum) I know this for certain as 2 years ago I attempted to get a letter from my normal branch in the correct format. They said no .. go to main branch. That is the one in Central Road. Immigration were not very helpful the first year, not explaining what exactly was wrong but told me eventually. I guess they want me to use an agent. Last year I thought I was being clever and just get the letter from the Jomtien branch. They gave me a print out of incomings and outgoings from my account. I was not convinced but it might have changed I thought ... as they near Jomtien Immigration and I thought must do many such letters .. I took it to try renew my retirement extension. (Jomtien branch easier to get to than the main branch). But no. They (Immigration) just want the 12 international imports listed and rejected this format for second year. Durrrrrr I should have freaking learnt. I went to the main branch again and got the info in the correct format and they confirmed they were the only branch that can list International incomings (and not all the account ins and outs). Confusion reigns a bit even after you get to the main branch. As not all employees know anything about it. You need the desk far right as you enter. Well that was the desk last 2 years but things change, I guess. I have thought it very strange there was no other chat room chatter about this .. till now I have not seen any .. if indeed the problem is as in my case.
  5. Excuse my muppetry ... but because of the upheaval of moving condo, and problems here and in the UK that have occupied my mind ..... I have totally lost track about how now to get a covid booster(s) in Pattaya. (Free or paid). I assume Royal Garden programme in this thread is finished. The search engine on here not getting me far, sorry if info is in a thread I cant find. (I had 2 Pfizer last year).
  6. I was confused reading that the new UK passports are blue. Because ... I only received a new one a few days ago ... and considered it to be black. I had to get it and look again. I am looking at it now. Its black. A very very trivial thing .. but I was a tiny bit curious. I dont care .. but why is mine different ? Was my thought. So I asked Mr Google and read that many consider that there new colour to be black. Not just me. So you may hear from confused old codgers like me saying they are black. ????
  7. Yeah your right. Apologies for being a stoooopid irriot. In 2012 when I renewed I saw it was more than 10 years and assumed it was credit from the unexpired passport validity. I have just given it proper thought / calculation for the first time in 10 years. ???? Durrrrrrr. I did not think overly much ... sorry.
  8. My passport has about a year before it expires and I am going to renew it soon. Probably after my next 90 day report in April. My cunning plan .. is to use a passport renewal agent in Pattaya to deliver it to Bangkok and collect it. Any recommendations which one ? As I read that it is taking about 3 months .... I am wondering how I would do a 90 day report if the passport is still away. (Yep ... I am already fussing/worrying .... over getting it back in time !$#@%)!. I always go in person to Jomtien. Those doing online, dont show their passport .. maybe I need to get on the report on Line system ? Oh what fun that seems. Tried it a few times without success. Also .. I guess I go to Jomtien Immigration and they transfer visa stamps etc to the new passport. (My old passport was actually valid 12 years. I renewed it 2 years early in the UK .. and was very surprised to have got the 2 years added to the new passport).
  9. Good idea. Maybe you should send him the route numbers as an introduction. He reads video comments.. I drove Pattaya to Chang Mai and it was easy .. 10 hours by car but only about 3 intersections / changes of road numbers. But it was years ago. I watched 2 of his videos and wanted to throttle him. I was out of order calling him a moron etc. But the swing-om-meter is swinging now towards that he is a crazy love- able rogue. He has learnt his lesson he says about filming in and into bars. I gotta admit toooooo .. he always has a smile on his face .. chuckles away all the time ... even after a fight and being abused by many in Soi Pothole. ????????????
  10. I found his road trip to Hua Hin very funny. Well except the bit a fellow motorbiker he had for a time, travelled closely with, in a traffic jam .. was much much later seen dead in a body bag after an accident. The upset Vlogger said he recognised the bike lieing near the body. Captain Chaos had a new SatNav app on his phone .. it took him the wrong way along dual carriageway many times. He was going round the same route for a long time ... round a big loop. Cue much cursing and swearing. He just carried on .. the wrong way (on the hard shoulder) ... with trucks passing very close, that were going in the right direction. Mucho F words. Unbelievable. He said normally in Thailand, he justs asks people for directions. Not 1 mention of using a map. (You just get on say route 7, then look for next route number. He did not have a map or know the route numbers). On the outskirts of Bangkok he kept going the wrong way. Eventually he asked someone, for directions to Hua Hin. The guy started to give them but then pointed out a bus going to Hua Hin and told the Vlogger to follow it. Which he did for a long way. But it was very often in a stationary traffic jam. So he had to abandon that idea. He is scared going over high bridges. No idea why his panic got me laughing. I am not sure how he got to Hua Hin, not knowing the road numbers or having a map. The SatNav app had stopped working. I had skipped forward a boring bit of him eating in a rest area and he suddenly was in Hua Hin. Sorry ... this is off topic but it is a very funny video. I am hooked now .... I should get a life / and need therapy. His videos are funny. I guess because he is a bit crazy. ????????
  11. I watched the video again .. well I skimped through it trying to get a screenshot of when he was filming quite a while INSIDE a bar .. to show the resulting screen dump ( blurring faces ) on here. But I either missed it or he has edited it out. Hey Ho. I am surprised You Tube allow all the swearing on his videos. F word and C word common. I swear but dont tape it and post it on You Tube. He was taking a chance video-ing a group of lady boys. His childish laughter was not at the LBs but could have been misconstrued (?) and he get mashed. The level of his immature stupidity was shown in another video when he walked into Soi 9 Police Station with his cam on a stick filming. He was very surprised to be soon told not to film. Bless. The bit earlier when he was nabbed for no helmet riding his bike, in WS ... when the Policeman rode away with the vloggers keys .. made me laugh. The vlogger to be fair was very confused ... but reasonably laid back. I would have probably been a bit more of a drama queen. I am not sure his filming outside Jomtien immigration with/interviewing an agent was very discreet. The agent was Indian and the crazy vlogger was saying no need to have the right documents, just see this guy and gave his contact details. Huge queue of those doing it correctly in background. At the end he said .. the agent has just gone off on the back of a Policeman's bike (if I heard it right). I guess these arrangement not exactly a big secret. He did say later on that video he should maybe stop vlogging in red light areas. Eureka .. the penny has dropped. He is off now I believe on a small motorbike, heading to Chaing Mai. What could possibly go wrong. I think he should rename himself Captain Chaos
  12. To be fair to the chap who got confrontational with the immature vlogging moron .... 1) The Vlogger actually walked INSIDE repeat INSIDE and up and down the whole length of one bar nearby that had a live band. He went close up to the band .. within a few feet and panned round the whole bar .. customers and some girls looking aghast. He did order a beer as he entered but him sitting and drinking it was cut out or he was not served. 2) The vlogger then walked up Soi Pothole. Many many girls were getting annoyed he was pointing the camera in their faces and rear ends. They were the bait girls outside the bars. He also pointed the camera into the bars. 3). As he passed the guy who he later had a ruck with .. the bar owner asked him to not film his bar and customers. 4) The vlogger shouted obscenities at him. Then continued up the Soi pissing off more people. 5) He turned round and was immaturely saying he was going back to <deleted> off the guy again and went out his way to point it at the bar owner and the bar.. The vlogger was looking for trouble and got it. 6) Unbeluevably after the 'fight' .. just pushing and shoving .. its hard to tell from the camera moving vigorously .. the vlogger was childishly giggling like a moron as he walked away that he was really happy he got a good video to post. He had not a clue filming INSIDE of red light bars was a problem. No empathy or wisdom. 7) Other farang and Thai girls were shouting at the vlogger idiot as he walked up and back in the Soi. He managed to <deleted> dozens if not hundreds of people in 10 minutes. Walking into any bar with a camera is just bad manners ... let alone naughty bars full of skimpily dressed girls. The bar owner was maybe protective of girls and customers throughout the street that the Vlogger was filming and pissing them off. ???? I repeat .. he was walking into bars and filming. I saw the entire video but I read its been deleted now. But many on here are saying he was in the right. Durrrrrrrrrrr
  13. Not getting a Re-entry permit is certainly a huge pain/inconvenience. I knew this .. so more incredulous I forgot on one occasion. Whilst waiting for an ordered meal at BKK (waiting for our flight) I remembered. Cue girly (on my part), serious panic and fluster. Rushed the meal .. and then rushed a long way back to passport control. (Try rushing a Thai girl from food. Ha ha). l got it sorted. But was not easy to find where I had to go and time consuming. But the memory of my huge panic is still very vivid. The Thai girl I was with did not understand why I so flustered. My only excuse is I do not travel out often. I was very lucky that I realised when I had just enough time to sort. I would not risk leaving it to do at the airport unless you live a large distance from an immigration office. I live a 10 bhat bus ride from one so stupid of me not to have done it in advance.
  14. I dont wanna thread ferk tooooo much but a big problem with Santander bank for us Expats is that they dont have email contactability. So not suitable if you are going to move abroad. But my main point is, it is not a Thai bank oddity to close unused accounts after 2 years. It happens with UK banks too. And no doubt in many countrys. Thai bashers take note. You got to phone Santander and go through multi option phone extensions to end up with a recent uninterested school leaver ( by sound of voice and empathy ) and get zero proffesionalism. My fault in a way .. I was too polite. I should have asked for a manager. I was thinking my son visiting my UK branch with a wad of documents and letters would get it sorted. With email, a record of their incompetence would exist. I got £90k in that account I cant access. I cant open an account with another UK bank remotely (I never go back) but if I ever get my OTP sorted a big chunk of that will be moved to my Halifax account on day 1. Halifax can be contacted by email and seem interested in solving any problem. Other good banks are available. ($miley)
  15. It is not a Thailand bank querk to make accounts not used, dormant and unaccessable. I had 2 banks in the UK declare my accounts dormant after 2 years of inactivity. I guess they assume the account holder may have died. Must happen hugely. They held savings .. the point of savings being you SAVE the money till needed not spend the money .. was my point to them. I no longer add money as I am retired, I said. I naively thought logging in to the internet accounts often was registering usage .. and was counting as them being active. Durrrrrr ! Amongst other things they were my funds for medical emergencies. I did not like them being unaccessible. Halifax restored accessability after one phone call and answering security questions. Very polite. Very helpful. Santander were and still are a nightmare. 4 long distant phone calls .. plus my son going into the local branch 4 times on my behalf ... have only partially resolved the problem. He even showed them letters they had sent to my home address about the problem .. the address the account is connected with. They restored the account as active. Eventually. BUT I had lost my mobile phone a few years back. They have my old number. They wont change my number on their system. The people I have spoken to are suspicious. Despite me passing the security questions. I need that changed for the OTP system of entering a code to move funds. I wont bore tooooo much re the many phone converstions I had but my last try ended with them saying they cannot change the phone number. IT guys had to do it. They would phone my new number. But never heard from them. Gave up. Thus I cannot use the account that has tens of thousands of pounds in. Been like that for a year. I dont need to use it .. but now send £5 a month into my UK savings accounts from my day to day account. Writing this has concentrated my mind. I am going to write to UK Finance Authority (or whatever they are called) and copy in Santander bank recorded delivery. Then if not resolved after a couple of months I am sure I am going to have a further phone call to them .. ask for a manager and totally lose it. Hey Ho.
