  1. I agree IMA, travelling to apply for a visa is not so much fun than it was when you were considerably much younger.

Having said that, the 90 day visa runs (multiple non-immigrant O visa) is a good excuse to take a holiday somewhere with my wife.

I am currently in the Avalon residence awaiting to collect passport at 1400 hrs and onward travel to Mukdahan. (My post of yesterday (For Info: Khor Ror 2) refers. Only a ten minutes walk to the Thai Consulate and turn back to Savannakhet bus station.

Whilst on the subject of the Avalon Residence, I would recommend a short stay here booking thru 'Booking.com' or Agoda, approx B820.

    Enjoy

  2. This morning, I submitted my second application for a non immigrant O visa at the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet. I received this visa back in July 2014 with no problems at all.

I submitted exactly the same paperwork this time around together with a KR2 updated earlier this month by Amphur. I lost my original marriage cert many years ago in the UK.

The male official to whom I handed over the necessary paperwork seemed very hesitant in accepting this asking to see the original marriage certificate. I explained of course of of the loss many years ago. It wasn't until he spoke to a female colleague who I guess said that's fine that the male official said to me 'okay' five thousand baht please and here is your ticket number to collect passport tomorrow.

  3. Either your wife or yourself can obtain a KR2 from the Amphur where you were married.

As in my case, I was married to a Thai many many yrs ago which meant I had to obtain a KR2 from that particular Amphur. The document is now on-line so therefore I am now able to obtain an update from ANY amphur.

  4. My multiple non-imm O visa expires 07 July and have booked a KL run end of June which will bring me up to mid-end Sept.

I obtained the above visa using a Khor Ror 2 which I obtained from Amphur (lost the orig marriage cert many yrs ago),

As the date on the KR2 will be well over 12 months ago, will I need to make a further trip to Amphur to update or will the old date suffice?

  5. I'm sure this has subject has already been covered previously, but any up-to-date information would be appreciated.

I have just received thirty two sterling dividend cheques which have been re-issued by the company's registrars in the UK in respect to my UK shareholding. A shareholding which I had completely forgotten about from 1997.

My question is, would Krungsri or Kasikorn bank accept these sterling cheques for clearance and if so what are their fees? Time to clear is not important or,

open an offshore bank in sterling in either Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

  6. Thanks OJAS. Even in the Thai language, my wife could translate into English.

The offshore bank requires either a consular official, ie The British Embassy(BE) here, lawyer, accountant or serving police officer. Initially, I tried my Thai bank but it's not their policy to certify foreign passports only to certify your current bank statement.

Will check this evening with the local police station.

Thanks ubonjoe, if no joy this evening, I will travel to Ploenchit tomorrow. The BE informed me this morning that's a same day service.

  7. Tomorrow will be travelling to central Bangkok to arrange the certification of my British passport which is required to open an offshore bank account in the Isle of Man.

    As of today,

    British Embassy charge B1,600

    Siam Legal B2,000 + VAT

This evening I am trying my local police station (police officer can certify passport) and it's possibly a free service, payment at your discretion.

Anybody had their passport certified recently and not necessary a British passport?

Would appreciate any feedback regarding name of lawyers, costs and preferably in the Sukhumvit area.
