It is just and fair and Thailand has had issues at immigration in the airports for many years. It is time to take responsibility for criticism and not behave like a child "throwing their rattle out of a pram".

Accept the criticism, learn from it and the country and system will benefit.

    I agree with you 200%.

If fully vaccinated a ATK covid 19 test is not required. You only need a certificate showing at least 2 vaccinations.

The test has to be done by a professional that would do a certificate confirming the test 48 hours before arrival in Laos.

I did a land border to Laos yesterday with my wife, she had 3 vaccines but the clinic she went to did not give her paperwork to prove it, they asked for it and 300 Bahts later in their pocket fixed the problem.  Welcome to Thailand/Laos, same difference.

That is not even close to the truth...

In CM [and other areas where there are nearly no farang] there are check points full of Thai being fined for not having helmets...

Must be the only place in the country.  But then again some farangs walk around with pink classes and they don't really see what exactly is happening in this country.

I can drive safely most of the time, going 50 in a 35 - - but in my home country, they give you a hefty fine for doing it...

That is just how it is - we understand and either abide or pay the fine...

What amuses me is when people come from other countries where they accept the laws and come here and have problem doing the same... why do people come to another country, another culture and question the laws?

Because in Thailand there are 2 laws, one for the Thai, they can do whatever they want without being afraid of repercussion, if you are a farangs get your wallet ready.  I don't know how many times I went thru road blocks and they told me I was speeding, no radars of course, I gave them 200Bahts and they let me go.  How many Thais are driving under age, no permit.  One time the cop was giving a ticket to a farangs for not wearing a helmet on his motorbike, in the meantime, his body the cop was stopped at the red light, no helmet.  You wouldn't see that in my country or any civilized country.

    Don't waste your time.

What they mean is that they obtain an extension each year.

    It's not a non O-A or a non O .

    They are visas.

They are obtaining 12 month extensions.

A non O-A can only be obtained in your own country or country where you are permanent resident.

A non O can be obtained in own country and also some countries Thai consulates and embassies.

    Eg Savannakhet etc.

A non O can also be obtained inside Thailand from entry via tourist visa and visa exempt.

That make sense.  Thank you very much for your time.

A non O-A is a visa valid for one year.

When someone obtains extensions of permission of stay from that visa it is simply an extension of stay.

A non O-A cannot be obtained in Thailand.

BTW there is no such thing as a "retirement visa"

I realize that there is no such thing as retirement Visa, read my post.  They both told me that they get an O-A Visa at the Immigration every year.  I took their word for it, I am not going to investigate to find out if they are right or wrong.

Your friend is using incorrect terminology.

He means extension from a non O based on retirement (or from non O-A)

There is no such thing as a "retirement visa "

Shout out to Dave owner of Sport bar UT.

If you visit UD chill there nice folk.

It is not my friend using the wrong terminology, it is me, I called it a retirement Visa because you have to be 50 years old and retired, but in reality, it is a Non-Immigrant O-A and he gets it at the Immigration in Udon Thani and he has done it for years and my other friend gets his at Ubon Ratchathani Immigration, I didn’t invent that, I got it from the horse’s mouth.

IMO he goes to get a retirement extension, not the visa. Far as I know any visa has to be obtained outside Thailand.

Won't help OP as need 800,000 in the bank, unless using income method.

I just talked to one of my friends who lives in Udon Thani and he told me that he gets his retirement Visa at the Immigration in Udon Thani and he has been doing that for many years.

You cannot obtain a tourist visa inside of Thailand.

You need to exit and apply at consulate or embassy.

    One example would be Vientiane.

I have one more question for you.  After you are done with your 75 days and if you do a land crossing, do you get 30 or 45 days?  I thought that to get another 45 days you had to fly out and back in.  Am I correct?  Thank you very much for your time.

I thought so.  Can we get a Tourist Visa in Savannaket?

You wife will need to be with you when you apply.

Copies of passport photo page, visa, current extension stamp, entry stamp and TM6 departure card.

Copy of marriage certificate. Copy for your wife's ID card and house book registry.

    A completed TM7 form.

I am sorry if I am off this topic but I have to ask the expert.  My friend lives in Khemmarat and he told me that he goes to Ubon Ratchathani Immigration for a retirement Visa, I did not know that you could get a Visa from the Immigration office.  If it is the case, can somebody get a Tourist Visa from the Immigration or does he have to go out of the country.  Thank you very much for your always valuable answers.

And of course we believe everything that Google tells us without question, don't we?

Well, whoever turned you away at the airport is a clueless idiot. You should have demanded to speak to their supervisor.

I did, when I checked in at Toronto Canada airport, the lady told me that my passport was expiring soon and I told her that I knew, but when I arrived at NY city airport, it was a different story, I was supposed to fly with Air China but at the ticket counter the lady told me that they wouldn't let me in, in Bangkok, so I talked to the supervisor and he told me the same, so $ 680.00 USD later and 1 hrs flight later, I was back in Toronto.  Needless to say, I was really ticked off.
