Going to have to disagree with the 'appears intelligent'.

The PM also forgets to mention that it will take years to build and open the billion-dollar plus Integrated Resorts they have in mind, so 'the economy' won't get any benefit for years.

The proposed tax rates are actually competitive but it's years away. Plus they want one mega-project in each region.

Trust me, if it's legalized, the casino's will be open with 6 months.

Basically 2 baht of gold equals 1 ounce of gold.  Most of the gold jewelry is 96.5% pure.  But there are lower grades sold too.

Yes, which I believe is the equivalent of 23carat. Do they sell 100% pure in Thailand as I've never seen it

I bought my wife a couple of baht for my wife when I was first in Thailand, about 4800 a baht 35 years ago, she says she keeps it in the wardrobe I cant find it!

In Europe/US gold is priced per oz or gram - over here it seems to be priced in some weired way she calls Baht (the same as the money BUT not the price - the weight)

If you think about it, it's not weird. In the UK (and if you are a certain age), you weigh things in pounds and you buy things in pounds.

As I see it, it's the same principal as Baht. Someone will probably correct me

Buying gold from a reputable shop is generally seen as an insurance for Thai people. When they have some money, they will buy gold and when their luck is down, they will sell often at a profit providing the price go's up.

Note that BA are only flying three times a week but daily to KL. Might be an option to go via there? Check the fare for both.

As for profiteering, it might be because they ran on empty during the pandemic and need revenue to stay operational? And if people are prepared to pay it, why not? I'd call that responsible business practise. Airlines work for themselves, not the passengers. Same as any business.

And that is exactly why there needs to be competition..

It is now and it's only going to get worse.

    A few hints.

airlines sometimes throw promotions out of nowhere, but I doubt it will be during Christmas, but who knows. Check the prices every day, set up the alert.....

Book a premium economy as it might be similar to economy price ticket. at least you get more bang for your buck.

I thought there would be more hints, but that's it. yeah....you're f$#&$#

A few more tips. Rramp up those airmiles, credit cards (pay in full each month!) , hotels etc. Try and stick to the same group of airlines, Star Alliance, Oneworld etc.

Although having said that, getting reward tickets is getting harder.

The new BA route is LGW-BKK, not LHR, and only three times per week using older aircraft. BA have almost no domestic connections to LGW either so its very unattractive to those of us north of Watford.

BKK is mainly a leisure destination hence at the moment less interest from carriers and less capacity.

Just offering an option and with more capacity on the route it might make EVA & Thai a little more competitive

Yes, London > Bangkok has never been a lucrative route versus say London>New York

I'm beginning to experiment flying from different airports. Stockholm > Bangkok is a lot cheaper for example even with a hoppover from London

Dublin seems cheap too, not saying it's the most direct option but if the OP is looking to save a few quid, it might be an idea.

I live in Watford so Gatwick isn't too far 🙂

Ultimately Baldwin pulled the trigger without checking if the gun was loaded. His subsequent lies about not pulling the trigger were disproven when they dismantled and tested the gun.

His arrogant, cavalier attitude and subsequent lies have been tough to watch.

If I was given a gun in a professional setting by an authorised armourer I doubt I would check if the gun was loaded properly

    1) I assume the armourer has done their job properly

    2) I have no idea what a blank bullet looks like

Seems a very meagre proportion. 90% Thai then? That's a lot of money slushing around out here. How many were nominee buyers for Chinese and Russians? 50%? It's the only way Chinese can do business here, and it's very iffy. Maybe crypto? No links to data.

Totally agree. If you look at any market around the world, I would guess the stats are pretty much the same. 90% local, 10% foreign.

    Non story!

    Conspiracy theories, heresay and assumptions.

Had Harry been born first, his paternal heritage not been questioned by mass media and the same mass media not hounded him about most aspects of his private life, including hacking his phone, I doubt what has happened since between him, the royal family and the media would have happened at all.

This is Major James Hewitt who had a dalliance with Princess Diana. No resemblence to Charles. There, I've said it.

The parents are entirely to blame, for not being parents. Proper parents raise their kids, they don't pass them on to others. Some might, might do what you say and actually visit their kid now and then, but bring a parent is not a part-time job.

Unfortunately necessity means that parents have to travel for work. Look at bargirls for example, do you really think they can support their kid while they are out on the game? Good grandparents will raise good kids but as someone else alluded to, there are a lot of bad or indifferent Grand-parents out there.

I would tend to agree with you also BUT would you rather live in a society where you can choose or one where you have no choice?

That's the dichotomy of freedom of choice - if you can choose one way then you have to allow another to choose their way that's the price you have to pay for your freedom of choice.

Quire right but there should be no expectation that said person will get medical care if they become infected, although having said that, the same could be said for smokers, heavy drinkers, the obese etc...
