  1. This "story" is falling apart - initially it was from the UK, now a Brit' ( you do realise the difference ?). I bet you Germans all sound the same(pun intended ) ????
  2. Agreed, most Europeans will now concentrate on Europe where there are nicer beaches and better nightlife. It will only be Nov' onwards when the majority start to think of warmer shores. Even then I doubt they'll entertain Thailand with the current requirements. I want to get back(have condos), but I won't return under the current requirements.
  3. Are you sure you've not been on the drugs... Two of your biggest constant gripes - People from the UK and drunks. All seems a little contrived..????
  4. Again - so in Thailand people do not take their shoes off and leave them OUTSIDE the apartment in the COMMON space. WAIT for it - most people do that & is expected ! What does annoy me is people that don't know Thai traditions ???? Next time you go for a massage please don't leave your Doctor Martens or pointe shoes outside in the common area ( not owned by the shop ) please ????
  5. My missus is back in BKK now. We got a wise card(UK) to test out. When she tested it in the ATM it said there was a 200 baht charge for the transaction - she was withdrawing a small amount - a few hundred baht - as we only planned to test it's use. Is that the standard charge?
  6. Thanks for that valuable input Professor Egit...
  7. I thought the mantra in Thailand(TV) was always rent - never buy...????
  8. I own several - and you're completely right in doing so - you're much better renting, esp' if you're a frequent traveler or split your time between Thailand and "home" ???? There are many responsibilities and they are a tax on your time and wallet - let the Landlord take the stress - do the maintenance, pay for issues and pay the maintenance fees.
  9. The pots and plants outside my apartments are artificial. I wouldn't put a live plant outside that needed watering. They add colour, depth and warmth to the corridors. I'd prefer that than a set of doors like a cheap hotel.
  10. I usually fly with BA to BKK, I know they are not great, but they are direct from LHR and usually a very good price direct. My comparisons over the years much better than competitors. My missus flew back from LHR- BKK with Emirates at the start of March, she got a price of just under £500 return with a 2 hours 40 mins break in Dubai.
  11. Problem with agents, is if something goes wrong your generally screwed. It's a matter of table tennis of the agent and airline blaming each other. You sitting in the middle unable to plan. I would never book through them ( Did once to SA via BA and it was a nightmare) Great if all goes to plan, in these uncertain times, I'd prefer the better odds of direct with the airline.
  12. They are meant to be very good according to my missus(doctor), however hard to get in. Many of the surgeons in there also work at the good private hospitals.
  13. I suspect this is the issue causing the quality issue - scanning deteriorates quality in some instances. Like other members I took a photo with my phone and it was accepted for my passport renewal. BTW, if you then renew your driving license they'll use the same passport photo within x years
  14. Maybe there were so many incidents - one was simply confused with another down the road - simply happening all over the town ????
  15. I have no issue with someone putting a plant outside their door as I believe it makes it feel more warm & welcoming - and not a set of hotel doors. Do you not like welcome mats or people leaving their shoes outside too - if so you're in the wrong place? ????
  16. I'm looking for something similar too for later in the year. That seems expensive for what is very small medical coverage. I'd pass on that as it's way too low. I think most of us are just looking for medical cover - not so much the travel insurance cover.
  17. FYI, re this if you're saying this is too high, you may need to think again. Staysure(https://www.staysure.co.uk/) - the largest UK travel insurance company now brackets Thailand in with the U.S. in it's top tier for costs. You used to have worldwide excl - USA(&a few Caribbean others), Thailand is now included in that top-tier group. Next group Worldwide excl' the above ( USA, Thailand..). Europe.. I didn't understand why, but there must be an insurance cost reason. And the cost to the worldwide premium is quite a large %.
  18. Happened to me many, many years ago in Samed. Sat on the beach at Silver Sands chatting and having a beer at night. Dog comes up with her puppies, they're playing around - thought nothing of it. Several hrs later, got up to leave - one shoe gone. Had to walk back to Jeps Bungalows with one shoe. Next day went back to see if I could find it - I could see it under the disco where the dog and pups were living, but too far under for me to dare to crawl in . The previous day a huge green snake had come out of the woods behind Jeps for a swim in the sea.
  19. This happened to me about 2 weeks ago - similar, an ID that is @ 30 years old. I got the message check your alternative email for verification ( didn't recognise backup email mask). I left it for the day, tried the next day and logged straight in. It did give me a kick up the ar*e to check all my alternative emails to ensure they were valid & operational. Hopefully it sorts itself out.
  20. Maybe worth saying where you are. When I was doing up my Condo's in Bangkok(3) I seemed to spend every weekend for months in designer village, just add any designer outlet and furniture store, including wood street, Pattaya etc, so you could def' offset your time against whatever cost you get quoted.
  21. I've bought a few, but can never remember signing this - always at the dept' in Bangkok. That's not to say I didn't - it was a few years ago ???? We're thinking of selling one of our Condo's - in my wife's name - is there an equivalent on sale? My wife's gone back for a couple of months. We've already had offers, I wouldn't want to hold up the sale for a form. TIA, Regards
  22. You have to specify exactly what visa - as I didn't see that and I looked yesterday, Maybe it comes down later as pop-down. I've seen ambiguous financial requirements without stipulating what they are, or 10K for some,
  23. A travel agent has nothing to do with your visa in the UK. It's your responsibility - you wouldn't be recompensed if you didn't meet the visa requirements. The onus is on you. As someone that lived and worked in Zurich for over 10 years I think it's the same there ????
