My TRICARE covers my wife and I for Bangkok Hospital in Korat as well but a lot of times I just pay the bill out of pocket unless it’s something really expensive then I’ll pull out my overseas TRICARE insurance card. I’m 100% disabled and medically retired after 21 years of service so my healthcare is pretty much totally free of charge even overseas. Where I live in Korat Bangkok Hospital by far provides the best medical care.

You don' have to pay 25% of the bill? If not that is great. I have Tricare for Life but I am worried about them accepting it since there is no 40,000/400,000 type policy.

I am also on Tricare. Which international hospitals are you referring too? Thanks, Joe.
Joe
I have used Bumrungrad Hospital for the last 13 years.

I have Tricare for Life, I mention this a few times now. Seems like only a few retired American military here. But I pay 25% of the bill both inpatient and outpatient up to a max of $3,000 which is around 95,000 baht. After I met that max I pay nothing for the remainder of the year. I had this happen around 6 times in the last 13 years. Also, a few of the big international hospitals here will fill your claim and only charge you the 25% and Tricare pays them the amount due. If I need insurance here it would add close to the amount of my deductible. Before 1 July I need to know if these people at immigration will accept this. They should extend the start to January next year and not push us to get it done in a month and a half.

Why is everyone making a big issue of this? They want us to have insurance doesn't matter what they say here, and what cost they make up. you have to have it. Why not talk about the type of policies available.

Just for info. none of this has been approved by immigration to implement. They will need to approve it (if in fact they do) and set rules accordingly.
If it hasn't been approved why did they say the cabinet has approved it?

From what I am reading here one group need to get Insurance while another group that is doing an extension of stay does not need it. I think anyone saying they don't need to purchase insurance is a bunch of crap. I don't care who the hell is telling you this. It is a bunch of BS and some people here are buying it because it means they don't have to pay. Wake up it does affect you and me. We all have to have the insurance. Stop playing word games here.

I agree. Government hospitals are good for minor things. When I was in Bangkok Hospital last year, they wouldn't file anything with Tricare. Said, Tricare wouldn't accept it. I had to pay first and then file. Maybe you just have better luck.
It is only for inpatient not outpatient. The hospital will contact Jusmagthai for approval first.

It's not hospitals like Bumrungrad that the Thai government is worried about not being paid. Private hospitals have their own way of collecting money.
The insurance policy must offer up to Bt40,000 coverage for outpatient treatment and up to Bt400,000 for inpatient treatment.
This is one of the measures the government has introduced to ease the financial burden placed on state hospitals by foreigners, many of whom have not paid for treatment.
What was said was NO hospital and I corrected it. Also, BNH and Bangkok Hospital does the same thing. I would only go to a Thai government hospital for minor care. Not to have my heart valve replaced.

You do understand that Tri-Care must be paid out of pocket first? Then the member must file a claim. After approval, if all is approved by Tri-Care 75% is paid to the member in reimbursement. That's after the deductibles are paid first. Tri-Care doesn't do any direct payments to Thai hospitals.
Tricare does do the direct payment to Bumrungrad Hospital for inpatient care. You pay 25% of the cost and they submit your claim. Tricare will pay the remainder to the hospital and any amount they own you if over $3,000.
I had too many surgeries here over the past 13 years.

Any other American Retired Military here with Tricare for Life? What do you think about this? We have better covers than what needed here but it not 400,000/40,000. I pay 25% of the cost both outpatient and inpatient up to a max of $3,000 a year. I go to an international hospital for all my care. I also have a letter from Tricare saying I am covered and the Federal Tax for that is required stating I have health insurance. I like to know what others who have this think?

I wonder if this will be a problem if you are a retired American military with Tricare for Life coverage. You pay 25% of the bill and no more than $3,000 a year. After that Tricare covers the total cost. This is better than any plan they list here.

Only friends and those friendly to the Junta seems to be getting appointed. The Thai citizens have no say in the matter. Just keep our mouth shut and do what they say not what they do.

If this person was Thai, this would have never happened. Seems like they are targetting foreigners more and more lately.

Smart move to let the people who were not voted into office make the budget. Just like another coup.

Why can't Thaivisa interview Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal and have him explain why this policy on extension of stay for Retirement and Marriage have different interpretations by IO officers under his control? Why isn't there only one policy and all are following it. There are many other questions that should be asked. Have Thaivsa member list them and present them to Big Joke.
