And how much will you be paying. That helps when the ex-pats on here will be asking there thai friends
Atm its in Maenam, but soon that will change to Plai Laem. Hence why i didnt mention location.it really might help if you said what part of Samui....
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand
The pay will depend on many things & will be discussed on meeting with the prospective nannies.

Not sure if that is the best approach, who would interview for a new job without knowing the salary, or finding out that you pay 300.- Baht from 8 - 2 or 2 - 8.....

Why not, can't handle real life, the truth? Motorbike crashes aren't funny and don't look nice.
In the olden days, police sometimes, when caught when driving around without a helmet, police on Samui didn't fine you, but you had to loom at their picture book of motorbike accidents. A very sobering collection of pictures.
If more people would be forced to do this or just did it out volunteerily, a lot of people would view driving a motorbike differently and probably change their attitude/style whilst on a bike.
I remember those days too, or just go in any temple and look at the pix there, another source is the Samui rescue foundation, every time wife donates a coffiin I flick through teh albums there....its all fact of life here.

That link is for location "cfpb" which is Central Festival Pattaya Beach, not Samui!
Confusing website indeed, home page is Samui, rest is somewhere else.....so Sizzler still "up in the air" indeed.

if it opens on 29.March or 29 July, what's the difference?
Probably not a lot for you.
But for the many business people who have already paid their advance installments on leases or concessions, made plans to leave their current premises, ordered and are possibly storing fittings and equipment for the new place, have staff on retainer in anticipation of a March opening, might have given up their current lease or/and already sent out advance trade notices to their customers and suppliers AND might be now looking forward to four months with no (or a reduced) income . . . I would imagine there is a huge difference.
R
You surely have a point here Rob, nevertheless, if you see who the businesses are who can afford 1,200 Baht per sqm rent, then I would not be so worried. Chaweng Regent and their japanese restaurant or Zazen with their brasserie or etc....will still survive if project would be delayed, but it isn't anyway.

you are right, forget completely the people, who invested there. And observed that only from the view of an expat, who lives here since many years and has already more things than actually needed. Sure, I will be there too. All in all it's a plus for the island and for Chaweng, creating also many jobs, hopefully the parking can also be used for non shoppers and I have seen, that the ugly cables on Beach road in front of that came down, what a nice surprise. If all the cables were down in the earth, planting trees, repairing the walkways, Chaweng beach road would be a nicer place, also during hot daytime.
As of yesterday opening day still confirmed 29.March. Parking for 200 cars, not sure it will be free for non-shoppers. 37 Rai, project costs 3.1 Bio. Baht (Samui is the smallest project the ever built), architecture Chaweng Port, Chino-Portugese, Fisherman style. Will have Tops supermarket, Power Buy, Super Sports etc....over 400 brands of goods.....(I should scan the fact sheet I think)

Thank you to eveyone that posted - some interesting info here.
Wifey's fave was the Bodegas red. Not seen for a while now.
Not doubting your thoughts SamuiCoconut 'Yes, pricing of boxed wine will go up to double !!! All to do with size (contents) of boxes sold....i.e. a 10 lit. box will increase more than a 3 lit box.' but this does not seem to match the beer pricing.
Cases of 12 large bottles of beer are much cheaper than cases of 24 small bottles. The logic here defeats me. TIT?
May be related to alcohol content as well. Anyway, thats what I have heard from BKK. Hope I am wrong !

I read somewhere this morning (Chang Mai forum or some where?) that Wine prices where going to double.... .... . so perhaps some hoarding taking place.. ????

I could write a novel now, but you need to be a bit more specific, especially in terms of pricing. I can't type as fast as hotel names pop up in my mind....
Four Seasons, Napasai, Santiburi, Zazen, W Resort, Anantara Bophut, The Scent, Sala, Muang Samui Villas, Six Senses, Akaryn, Sareeraya, Muang Samui Chaweng, Buri Rasa, Centara, Poppies, Vanabelle, New Star, Banyan Tree, Meridien, Conrad, Intercon, ....as usual, money talks!

It's in Plai Laem, thus shouldn't be too difficult to find out who is behind. Anyway, 2.5 Mio. for studio sounds high to me, 5 Mio for a one bed room even more, but then again, no sqm are given.....
-
In your opinion would I still need someone to manage the project? Its only a small pool that im looking to install and the kitchen and bathroom shouldnt be a large ordeal or am i just being naive??
Small or large pool doesn't matter, its the same work, and yes, I would strongly advise to have someone to supervise.....someone with knowledge and common sense.

Why then when I'm booking for a Mrs and a Miss did they accept payment from a Mr ? should not this be highlighted as one attempts to book
As part of the process I also had to get a code from Bangkok Bank ...All seems very complicated.
I prefer to book at their office but some promotions are only on line and I must admit I am not very good at scanning terms and conditions for what I assumed a simple ticket reservation ...
No question the website booking procedure has an error in its code and should flag up before payment is made. However, the practice of not being able to book tickets for others unless you yourself are flying has been around for at least 10 years which was when I first encountered it.
Now I know !
On this occasion Bangkok Airways have today said that they will accept a copy of my Debit card and a copy of my passport on check in ..
Good, case closed!

1 China
2 S Korea
3 Russia
4 germany
5 UK
Are there any prizes for the correct answer?
Out of these five where would you say they're money goes? In terms of entertainment, accomodation, sight seeing etc?
I beleive the Brits and Australians pump the most money into the local economy, Koreans probably nothing and russians keep the 3256 7/11's on the island in Biz
I do see a lot of Koreans and motorbikes these days but never see one of them in the restaurants i visit.
Also i almost never see Chinese people in the restaurants I frequent. (Mostly western orientated and the 'hole in the wall' Thai establishments.)
So if I had to guess i would think that the Russian and German/France/UK visitors would bring more money in to the local economy than the Asian guest do.
Just a guess.
Chinese do spend money on rooms, but very little on F&B. Rather than eating in the hotel they stay, they walk out as they prefer local dining and cheap prices. After breakfast they disappear on tours and only return late afternoon. Russians spend well in general, German and French also okay, and yes, UK also not bad.

It may be better to search through other media i.e. thailandhotelier.com or check with the SCC (Samui Culinary Circle). Or try classified ads on Thai Visa here. Also, foreign chefs are usually not hired to be thought or to give them an opportunity to learn but to teach others their/new skills.

150K a month plus med insurance you can have me. Your restaurant will be full....and your customers happy. :-)
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
80 seats/20 staff
No physical reason why you should not be worth the cost. Even at only 80 covers a night with a single seating the restaurant would be doing great guns.
So if you get paid 150 K you will promise that the restaurant will be full every day ?
BBQ Seafood restaurant ? Are there none on Samui?
Restaurant Manager ? Experience NOT a must ?
Sorry guys, but all this sounds too fishy....

As I said, AIS has problems, at least in this neck of the woods (Bangrak), wife called and they admitted something is not right. Expect this to last at least another 2 month.Take it out and spit on it, wipe it on your T-shirt. Works for me...........
Also tried that and didn't work.
I also heard a theory that they disable some SIM cards so you come to the office and register the SIM (registration is needed to get your number back on the new SIM)
Its a bit strange that the phone sees the SIM but no network signal. I tried it in another phone with same result.
Alert! Due to AIS system maintenance, AIS bill payment service on SCB Easy Net will be temporarily unavailable on Friday, 7 February from 10.00 11.00 pm.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

Between Tesco's food hall (walk up the ramp and on the LHS) and Homepro
Thank you.
I will have a look tomorrow if they can fix the problem.
Try something simple 1st pull the sim card out and re try. If that doesn't work log in to web site at AIS and see if you can receive OTP via sms from them. If that fail's just call 1175 call center normally excellent service.
Actually I did all of those and also changed the sim from the phone of my wife and vice versa with the same result.
I did not call the service number because I think they would not be able to help me with this.
But i will try just for fun and than go to the shop to get it fixed.
AIS has some problems I believe, lately I have problems to get a signal when inside the house (before that was never an issue).....

What part of Bangrak ?

Leave the poor animals in the sea, please
I thought about that aspect and also thought about not buying one because marinelife is better off where they belong, but to be completely honest, i don't know if i will turn down a deal if i see one.
Sorry for not beeing perfect.
Are they actually "stuffed"? I always thought they are filled with air......(and leave all fish in sea and don't eat meat and don't kill plants.....)

Problem many times is that the "other" party drives stupidly, I believe this is the second accident in the last 7 days in Bangrak involving a water truck. Also lets not blame all on the truck driver, we don't know if the woman was drunk, had lights on, drove on the correct side of the street, etc. Anyway, RIP, its sad indeed.
