Someone posted a "Confused" reaction to my above reply.
I only post that as there's no 'don't like' option.
Probably posted because you were boasting about your income.

All work is not drudgery, some people like, enjoy, and take pride in their work,it gives meaning to their life.
One can balance enjoying once self while saving for the future and taking care of one's responsibilities, and if they can do it in a job they enjoy.....
I always found all work to be drudgery.
Maybe not for the first month or two, but after that completely dull.
And the people that were happy in their work, I also found completely dull.
The only exception was cutting up logs for the wood burner, chainsaw and axe, quite happy to do that for an hour or so every day.

You only need one really good friend in my opinion, and I have that. I also consider my wife to be in that category as well.
Your wife is the single most likely person in the world to deliberately harm or betray you.
And the person she's most likely to do it with is your closest friend.

In reality 2 or 3, maybe a couple more if you don't have a family.
How much time do you have in a day?

So do I. IIRC DHL charged about 1k Baht clearing fee on a $1000 order, that I could accept.
If FedEx gouge then I'll have to find an alternative, all the other shipping methods from the seller were significantly more expensive (like double).
I don't mind paying, duty or VAT (not that I actually like paying of course) but if someone is asking 6k for clearing then they don't get a second chance.
Might be cheaper to fly over and bring it back in a suitcase.

I'm the same. I saw that video when it first came out and sort of sympathized with the shooter. The black guy should not have shoved him to the ground. But obviously, he didn't deserve a death sentence for that. The problem is if Drejka had gotten off, everybody with a gun would be emboldened to use it. Civilized society can't function that way.
I would argue in civilised society you don't attack others and throw them to the ground.
Once the 'civilised' behaviour is finished on the other persons part, I would shoot to kill.
The whole point of carrying a gun is to shoot people who attack you.
If every aggressor thought they would be shot and killed, they wouldn't start the fight.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm very confused. Google translate says five hundred is ห้าร้อย, which looks nothing like the text in the image.
It says ha roy baht toowan = 500 bht = ห้าร้อยบาทถ้วน

the point is there is no "someplace else" anymore. just so we are clear, I had not walked this way before today and this is what I came across. Those photos of the trash piled next to the water are not something I went looking for. This is typical of what you see in Hua Hin once you get away from the VERY NARROW strip of beach where tourists do selfies.
No litter in my moobaan, walked 6Km in the jungle this morning, the only litter was a couple of crisp bags on the whole hike. Went through Huay Keow park, no litter. Maybe I should take my rose tinted glasses off.
I know there are places with litter, same as every country in the world, but I don't feel the need to look for them, or photograph them.

I can't quite follow your "reproduction-argument", in relation to us sending our kid to an international school or spending money on good insurances?
How many can you afford to spend 17k/month on?

My kids are 8 and 20, both in government schools, both native speakers in 2+ languages.
My son isn't particularly bright, according to his teachers, but he can already speak more languages than them..
But it's interesting to see others reproductive strategies.
You go for one which you lavish all your money on, risky as he might turn out gay or a druggie or just plain lazy, or die in a m/c accident.
I reproduce as often as possible, and spend the minimum on each, spreading the risk.
(3 boys + 1 girl in my last family, 1 boy and 1 stepdaughter in my current family)
I encourage all my sons to reproduce as often as possible.

Ain't it beautiful?
A friend of mine is holidaying in Hua Hin right now, I will recommend him this spot for a romantic picnic
It's not all bad, the restaurant hanging over the harbour is very scenic (just down the road from Murphy's bar).
I used to enjoy a beer with my pals while hanging over the water.

Well, I think good education and being properly insured makes pretty good sense ????
If you really worried about your kid having a 'good education' you wouldn't be living in Thailand.
My kids been in hospital, it was free and they did a good job.

However, still find it pretty amazing people can live here with a family for less. Just our kids school fee is 17.000 THB per month (one kid). And insurances for the whole family is around 12.000 THB per month.
Insurance and private school is for rich folk with more money than sense.
That's 30k/month saved right away.

If you can't take it home in a taxi how will you take it anywhere to be fixed under warranty?
Samsung and LG fix it in your home.
There's only 2 boards inside them, power & processor.
They just plug a new board in.

not very easy to get.
My gf can never remember hers, I always have to set it up for her.
Not that I care where she goes in the day.

Gotta agree, was very impressed with the beach, almost deserted during the day, and a shady beach promenade.

odd situation. Can't make much of it. How someone will get the GPS coordinates of the originator phone, I'm not too sure.
If you have their google play account name and password you can view the phone owners movements in google.
https://myaccount.google.com/find-your-phone?pli=1
(Google locate, then maps timeline)
It's quite detailed, lists all the shops and address you stopped at.

Most old folk I know in the UK my age (over 60), sit around at home watching TV with a bit of gardening, walking the dog, and that's it. Maybe a coffee and a biscuit at the old folks 'drop in' centre on a Wednesday morning.
After 70, most of them will be moved to a nursing home by their children where they wait to die.
What exactly are you expecting out of old age?

And you think you will get them that easy next time? Same if you want to work in one of the EU countries?
As far as I know, once you have residence, it's for life.
And if you have residence and are not an EU citizen, you can apply for citizenship.

So all the British in Spain can sell up their houses and bars as they don't have a proper visa to stay there anymore.
Probably not as they've already received residence permits.
Same in France.
If you live there more than 180 days in a year, you have to apply for residence.

I live here like a pensioner (but with a much younger woman in my bed, and kids running around the house).
I used to live on 50,000bht, but now I live on 37,500bht.
Glad the teen only has 1 year of university left, but I'll be OK after that if the pound doesn't fall below 25bht/pound.
Better than shivering alone in a UK bedsit.

I read from many websites that one can catch a bus from the HH bus station to Clock Tower for 30 baht. Is it still available ? Where exactly is the 30 baht bus located ?
Walk outside to the main road, wave the songtaw down.
I'm sure it was only 15bht.

Only elderly white guys want to buy a weeks shopping.
Modern people buy what they need for today, and maybe tomorrow.
I haven't 'lugged a big bag of groceries' since I was married and living in the UK more than 10 years back.
Thailand hasn't moved all it's stores to out of town hypermarkets, there's 4 or 5 in every street.
