  1. I have been a client of Eric since about 2006. I have had renters insurance, and currently health insurance, home owners insurance on 2 homes, car insurance, truck insurance, motorcycle insurance. I have had many claims over the years and Eric has proven VERY VALUABLE in the process. Having an adult male speaker who understands my English, yet can speak fluent Thai to Police, Insurance adjustors, Hospital Insurance staff has proven VERY VALUABLE. I have NEVER had a claim denied. Not once. I have been treated well at plice stations since Eric on the telephone was my spokesperson. I pay annual premiums directly to the insurance companies with a foreign credit credit card with no "service fees". Eric has guided me to the discounts of co-pay on vehicle insurance, and discounts on multiple year home owner policies. He "works for me" and not for the insurance company. Having Eric Dohlan as my independant Insurance BROKER has worked well for me.
  2. Pledge is sold at Top's in Buriram. Makro has liquid 3M furniture wood polish.
  3. Pristine Condtion 2016 Flex Fuel Toyota Corolla Altis with Toyota Factory 20 year warranty installed CNG | NGV tank installed. This beautiful Altis runs on petrol or CNG | NGV. The cost to operate is less than one baht per kilometer. The Toyota Corolla Altis was my commute car and is in PERFECT conditon. Never any accidents, never towed. Never any mechanical issues. It was purchased brand new in April 2017 from Buriram Toyota. It was faithfully serviced every 10,000 kilometers at Toyota Dealership in Buriram. The only reason I am selling this beautiful Altis is I bought a new Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid car. In October 2023 this Corolla Altis is on display in the covered parking lot of Ruangsangthai Builders Merchants. One original owner. 164,616 highway commute kilometers in Buriram, Thailand. Miss Biw has the key to the Toyota Altis inside the Ruangsangthai hardware store. You can see this beautiful Altis sedan 7 days a week between 8:30am and 5pm. No cashiers checks. The road tax registration and AXA VVP auto insurance is paid until April 2024. The Transcend DrivePro 520 dual direction dashcam video recorder is included. The firm price is 375,000 baht. No offers | no negotiations. The price is set and very fair. This car has been serviced every 10,000 KM at a Buriram Toyota Dealership. Video filmed of this Toyota Corolla Altis at the September 2023 normal 10,000KM service in Buriram Thailand. The telephone number of Ruangsangthai Hardware for directions is 044-666-484. The telephone number for the Altis for sale is listed in an attached photo. Full details are listed on the website https://www.buriramtoyotaaltis.com/ https://youtu.be/wWjZXf2T7Go?si=K_XFqUKN6eCcYX7j
  4. I would suggest that any expat considering to purchase a table saw go in person to a store that has a variety of power tools. That plastic Stanley table saw is very affordable. The plastic DeWalt is double the money. However the two Bosch table saws sold in Thailand might be a better long term purchase. May I also suggest any potential buyer of a table saw see the selection of cutting blades in stock at a store for the table saw he is considering. A warranty is fairly worthless unless the store you buy the tool from is willing and able to fix ON SITE. Or if you are willing to pack up the tool and you pay on Flash or Thai Parcel for the shipping directly to the tool repair facility in Bangkok. The "free shipping of a tool for warranty repair" takes weeks, if not months for most Thailand stores. Milwaukee tools are shipped direct from a store to the repair facility by a specific courier service, but the vast majority of tools or pumps being sent "free" are on a slow process to a depot, then the distributor at some convenient date picks up the boxes at the depot and this can take weeks. Same with welders. There is often a queue at the repair facility in Bangkok. Far better, and far faster for the customer, if a store has a repair facility and can order the parts needed for a repair, which can come much faster to the store for repair at the store you bought the tool, pump or welder. If you want to get your nice lawn mower all scratched up by all means let a store ship it to the Bangkok repair facility. Did I mention losing wheels in transport to and from Bangkok.
  5. Thank you ScubaScuba3 for posting the tax charts. Very helpful. I now understand why they would not accept payment for land tax last year. I gladly pay the land tax each year, and last year they did not want payment. A yellow House book is incredibly useful if you want to promptly register a vehicle in your name, to sell a vehicle that is in your name, ESPECIALLY if the buyer lives in a different province. The PINK ID card makes things go smoother at shipping companies, post office, and retail stores in my experience. I was "lucky" to never need a translation for the three different yellow books I got with ZERO run around in two different cities in Buriram province. Those same offices have put up "roadblocks" for fellow expats, but it is possible. The day I applied for a "pink ID" a clerk said they didn't have the card so I took my translator to the corner office and she told the head of that office the challenge. He immediately came out of his office and told the lazy clerk to put in the pink card and he told me that EVERY office has pink cards for aliens. It was a uniformed soldier working that day in the office, so he may not have understood that aliens get pink ID cards. Banks in my experience live and die by the passport, yet my work permit made getting new car and new truck loans easy in Thailand. I dare not enter a Thai bank without my Passport as many tasks require the bank to photo copy that passport.
  6. The OP might consider contacting Schneider in Thailand and perhaps https://www.bticino.co.th/en/showroom/ Legrand might offer what the OP is seeking. If he can buy it locally in Thailand from a Schneider dealer or via Legrand he might have a better overall buying experience than through an online service with no warehouse in Thailand such as RS. https://www.se.com/ww/en/product-range/61226-ultra/
  7. May I suggest that the OP or any expat who is considering any "special" or "different" home construction methods to attend the annual Architect Expo. If they plan a full two days, and start at one side of the exhibition hall and walk isles by isle, they can see, feel and touch all manner of innovative building materials that are "on the ground" in Thailand. No one will try hard to "sell" them any products, but rather the visitor can find out the local distributor in their area for building materials. I have attended this expo most every year since 2007. It is a great way to see actual building materials that ARE REALLY AVAILABLE in Thailand. The EXPO is free to attend. You can pick up the business cards and brochures that will help you research the materials. Some firms might sell direct to the consumer, some might point you to the distributors in your area. Frankly, I have met more than one expat who ended up building a home "solo" since the Thai workers they had found would not work the way the expat wanted them to work. Thai workers have no problem in walking off a job in my observation. I certainly know the value of hiring experienced contractors and sub contractors for various aspects of a job. SCG has really expanded "services" over the years from only doing excellent roof installations. However in Isaan, there are limitations to which firms will really want to come for special installations. Every expat cares about the quality of what they spend their money on. Unfortunately not every supplier really cares about the products they sell or the sub contractor they send out. https://architectexpo.com/2022/en/ The architect expo is far different than a HomePro expo or "Home show" held in the same venue.
  8. At Power Buy YES in my experience. Yes at HomePro in my experience. However, be careful on Lazada, and see that the compressor "matches" the unit. Usually, at a physical store, installation is "included", with stipulations depending on the brand and model at reputable stores. However different units require different size electric cables, different size circuit breakers. HomePro generally lists what exactly is included. Be sure to check what arrives, to what is on your a-4 size receipt. Undersized electric cable is a common problem, so be sure to check. How much of the ugly plastic covering on outside cables/pipe is another issue to check and be prepared to pay additional fees if your necessary covering length is longer than what is stipulated when you bought the air conditioner. Bear in mind it is often a "sub-contractor" doing installations for Homepro, Global, Thai Watsadu, PowerBuy, The Power. Not always an employee, so take note of any damage to your property and check the electric cable size.
  9. I've toured the Makita Power Tools assembly plant on two different tours in Thailand. There are 10 Makita assembly plants in the entire world. Every Makita tool is tested when it comes off the line. MT is the new branding of Maktec. When I last toured the Makita plant in Thailand, Makita tools would be on one assembly pod and Maktec on a different pod. Same engineers, same factory staff, but less robust components in Maktec. I can only assume the same now applies to MT series by Makita. There are NOT mystery non branded tools made in the Makita plants. Makita tools are only made in 10 plants in the world including Japan, China, Thailand., Germany. Mexico, Romania, Dubai, United Kingdom, Brazil and the United States. I've seen Makita tools on sale in Thailand made in Thailand,. China, Japan and Germany. Only a certain number of tool models are made in each assembly plant.
  10. I don't recall the prices I paid for any water tanks or pressure tanks in years past. I believe Grundfos is a fine quality brand of water pump for those who can afford to buy and maintain a Grundfos water pump. That brand has a fine reputation. In Isaan there are main distributors and then sub distributors of Grundfos brand. BMC in Korat is a main distributor of Grundfos pumps as I was told. Any expat looking to buy any water pump would do well to understand how repair service during the warranty period and AFTER the warranty period can be accomplished in THEIR location.
  11. I have purchased three "pressure tanks" for my own home starting in 2008. 300 liter and 500 liter. The problem, even with water that flows through 5 filters in line and is then stored in large Diamond Brand water storage tanks, is UNLESS you buy the more expensive stainless steel pressure tanks, they will rust out. I no longer have a "pressure tank" for household use. I am 100% satisfied with my Mitsubishi Super pump which has a tank and the power to delivery excellent water pressure in three full ensuite bathrooms on a second floor and three restrooms and two kitchens on a ground floor. I have a pressure tank smaller system pulling water from a smaller plastic tank for lawn sprinklers. There are plenty of pressure tanks sold in Buriram and in similar water pump stores in Thailand. If a store sells "Mitsubishi Super Pumps" (not home Pro, not Thai Watsadu) they might stock water pressure tanks. Lazada might not be the least expensive place to buy a Mitsubishi Super Pump. I prefer to buy from an established retailer who has a real team to install my water pumps. https://www.buriramhome.com/buriram-three-car-garage/
  12. I recall a news special on the genuine problem the "citizen reward" program has evolved in mainland China. Evil people would cause trouble and an associate evil person would film and report the sucker in the scheme. One camera, and carefully edited clips, only tells one side of the true story.
  13. Perhaps they read the writing on the wall with regards to the decline in retail shopping centers and decline in mainstream department stores. Central might be very prudent to diversify.
  14. 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Price reduced and you can see it at Buriram Builders Merchants Covered Parking lot starting November 23, 2021. Mr. Pichai was kind enough to allow me to park my personal 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis in the customer parking lot of Ruangsangthai Hardware on Highway 2074 in Buriram. I reduced the price to 358,000 baht. You can make me a "reasonable" offer via PM after you see the car. Miss Jaew has the keys at her desk inside Ruangsangthai. If you desire a test drive please bring your PASSPORT and Thai driver's license. They will make a photocopy of both ID prior to any test drive. You don't need either to have Miss Jaew, Miss Biew, Mr. Moses Lopez or Mr. Les Ridd open the Toyota and pop the hood and allow you to start the engine. The Toyota Altis is on show in Buriram and I have the registration book and paperwork in Satuk. I certainly can drive to the store to meet serious buyers who has seen and started the car in person. Frankly, I paid for advertisements on Facebook marketplace and it was tire kickers, those who pleaded for credit terms and a slew of "tent sale" owners. I bought a 2021 Toyota Cross and no longer need this Toyota Altis. There are minor scratches on the "pleather" seat covers and a small chip in the windshield. It runs perfectly and was only serviced at the Toyota dealerships in Buriram since the day I bought it brand new. Thank you for your consideration. The phone number and details are on the "poster" attached. When it sells and the title is transferred I will post notice. I had it checked on Monday November 22 at Phanom Rung Toyota dealership in Buriram. This was my personal commuter car to drive from Satuk to Buriram on Highway 219.
  15. Have any forum members been notified by Bangkok Hospital in Korat regarding Moderna they paid for?
  16. The OP has the 2nd from the bottom "series" of that brand as I look at the website. Does not mean it is a bad air conditioner. If the OP looks in the printed catalog it will indicate the decibel level and SEER number of the other possible series in that brand. It is a reputable brand. https://carrierthailand.com/air-conditioner/wall-type/ However Carrier is no longer part of UTC. https://www.coolingpost.com/world-news/utc-board-approves-carrier-spin-off/ The Thailand owner of Carrier is a VERY well funded and VERY reputable firm B Grimm https://bgrimmaircon.com/ The OP can work up the corporate level if he feels he has a defective unit. He might have copies of all receipts and copies of receipts of a real company who cleaned his units.
  17. The previous posts have pointed out that when you shop for the "portable units" the store itself is cool, The units I have experienced not only do NOT cool very much, but they are darn noisy. Not worth the expense. Cleaning the a/c unit properly is well worth the money.
  18. Neodrain can be ordered at any UHM dealer. Slotted black pipe for French drain and geo textile are sold all over Thailand. I bought mine in Buriram at Ruangsangthai Hardware. It is not hard to find.
  19. For a village house I bought "The Kitchen" by Sanki. Very good quality if you want the stainless steel countertop. I also bought Sanki counter doors for a restroom. Great value in my opinion. Sanki products are made in Thailand.
  20. I have visited showrooms in Bangkok and Home Expos when planning a new home in Buriram Province in 2007. I also visited the kitchen department of the Ikea store when it opened in Bangkok. I know several people who enjoy the value and ease of ordering a kitchen from Ikea. I've seen beautiful kitchens in Buriram built by a UK expat and his team of Ice Furniture. I hired two Thai craftsmen to build an indoor Western Kitchen and an outdoor Thai kitchen in 2007. I was pleased with their work. They used Q-con blocks, Q con kitchen counter pieces, (similar to Diamond Kitchen Counters) real granite, etc. 24 outlets on RCBO circuit breakers in the indoor kitchen has served our family well. The OP has many "flat pack" options in Thailand and he might check with recommended kitchen builders in his community. https://www.buriramhome.com/buriram-home-custom-kitchens/
  21. If you want to buy a more powerful name brand petrol chain saw it is not difficult in Thailand. You need only work with your retailer to go to the correct government office to obtain the FREE permit for a chain saw in Thailand. There is a police background check requited, which is inexpensive. Once you or your Thai spouse pass the requirements you can obtain the permit for a specific larger more powerful chainsaw than the "normal" 11.5 inch chainsaws sold all over Thailand. A responsible retailer will not sell the longer bar, or the more powerful chainsaw unless you have the permit. The longer cutting chain is not an issue as it is a consumable. Husqvarna and Stihl chainsaws have decent service and parts in Thailand in my personal experience.
  22. In Buriram Province Thai women can receive Pfizer in September 2021, depending on their age and / or where they work. I have nieces who have received Pfizer due to age or where they work. My wife received Astra Zeneca at a local government hospital. My wife requested Pfizer at a Thai government hospital that had Pfizer the day before, but she did not meet the age or employment status to receive Pfizer. In EVERY province there is a process for Thai citizens to sign up in person and/or on line. You do not "phone it in". Moderna is a vaccine I paid for at a reputable hospital in Korat. It is (or was) available to purchase in advance, with payment in full in advance from many reputable hospitals. However it may not be in my arm as a 3rd booster until December 2021 or January 2022. I know of expats who received Pfizer as a first vaccine in Surin Province, in September 2021, yet their Thai spouse with a US passport were turned down for Pfizer. However I know a UK expat who received Pfizer a month prior and his Thai wife with a UK passport did receive Pfizer in Surin at a government vaccination center. Different day, different staff, different results, but you can not "call it in". The OP might suggest to his wife that she go to her local Government Hospital Covid 19 vaccination desk and in person inquire where to sign up, or what app to download and sign up. Village "health volunteers" are who signed up my wife and her family. They did not need to travel to a hospital to sign up.
  23. The Op should understand the Thai Postal website track and trace is a few days behind the USPS when a package arrives in Bangkok. Often packages sent to me from the USA show leaving the USA on the Thai postal track & trace, when the USPS shows where it is in Bangkok. I never worry about not tracking it for that period it flutters around Bangkok. I am tracking packages, not letters. I can in fact track the packages as they go from Bangkok to Korat and then to the final post office on the USPS website.
  24. I've seen plenty of well drillers in Buriram. Buying the worst well pumps, worst PVC, is par for the course. The customer of the well driller does not realize the well driller cut every corner and won't realize he is supplied with less than the best products until they start to fail. Checking references of the well driller and meeting people face to face who hired the well driller over 3 years ago is important in my observation. Did they come back and fix things? Did products used fail in the first 3 years?
