Those who have recently returned with a re-entry permit on an extension of stay based on retirement may beg to differ with you. The COE will be refused without proof of 400/40K Health Insurance.
Not from the UK I am afraid.

I have health insurance with Cigna that includes coverage for COVID. Is that enough to get a COE?
If it specifically mentions that Covid is covered for $100k and you can upload that to prove it, then yes. Make sure it covers asymptomatic admission to hospital in case you test positive in quarantine and have no symptoms

After reading in the Phuket press that all this b******* about needing 2 types of Thai insurance had been Revived I actually checked this in March by email direct to the London Embassy. they replied saying that Thai insurance was not essential and that UK insurance would suffice as before. Also it need only cover the duration of your stay and not the whole remaining period of your extension. I would post a copy of the email here but my laptop recently packed up and I don't know how to copy and paste on my phone yet...lol. sorry
Only the $100k Covid is required from the UK with existing retirement extension and re entry permit.

Sorry UJ we have had this discussion before. The UK operates this diferrently from most of Europe. You only need the 40k/400k with NEW retirement non O issued in the UK. If you have an original Non O retirement extension with a re entry permit only the $100k Covid insurance is required.

Where on the London Thai embassy website does it say to apply for a visa exempt? I have looked but I can only see tourist visa non-o.
Thanks in advance
You dont apply for visa exempt you just travel with your COE.

True, but the form that still needs to be filled in at most places also has no way or asking for a multi-entry, and you have to actually write on the form that is what you want. Whether there is a way of doing that electronically I have no idea. It would be interesting to know. Otherwise, I guess the Thai government's attitude is we will only give you three months for you to visit (their official term, not live with) your wife. Nice. Makes us feel very welcome.
Sorry you are so out of touch. The evisa system has been operational for a long time now. You cannot apply for a multi entry Non O. This has in the the past been available from Laos and Ho Chi Min City. Only option now is to enter Thailand on a Tourist Visa or a visa Exempt entry or a single entry Non O. You can convert the Non O into an extension of stay based on marriage for 1,900 baht with the required funds. You can also convert the Tourist visa or the visa exempt entry into a Non O for 2k baht and then an extension of stay based on marriage 1,900 baht again by meeting the financial requirements.

Is it possible to travel to UK via a transit in Singapore, Hong Kong or anywhere else at the moment without incurring 'red zone' quarantine when arriving in UK?
Do these transit locations require any special paperwork eg negative Covid test within 72 hours?
I am aware of UK requirements and conditions on arrival.
Thanks
are you seriously not able to find this out for yourself. In the time it took me to read your question I had the answer.

Its changed a great deal since the beginning. If they want free State Quarantine, all you have to do is book Thai airways flights. They fly every Sunday. They then apply for a COE for both of them and basically thats it. No Covid or Fit to Fly required now and no insurance. Use Thai passport of course.

This should help you find your flight out, bye bye

I believe there is no official regulation to close swimming pool at this stage so it depends on the Condo's own policy. The pool and fitness at my condo is currently closed, but at my friend's place pool is open and fitness closed. Another friend has both open.
The official rules are available to see if you look. All pools should be CLOSED, I know some Condo's are ignoring this. All gyms can OPEN until 9pm.

Yes problem solved thank you all for the advice. I called someone to do it in the end. It would have been relatively easy to do but I thought if I bought one and then it wasn't the capacitor I would have wasted 500 baht. All seems ok at the moment I shall reserve judgement in saying its fixed 100%, as the problem has been intermittent. Fingers crossed.

I understand but you must be the most unluckiest Falang. So every year you have been hospitalised twice because of a drunk farang. Every year you have haf to buy a new mobile phone because of a drunk farang. Every year you have had to go home and change your clothes because of a drunk farang.
Sorry you are lying. It was a Thai

I have an older Samsung air condition unit which is probably 10 years old now. It will work perfectly for days on end but every now and again the compressor will not engage and I only get the fan. I only use the air con at night and it seems to happen when the outside air is typically simillar to the inside temperature. I set it at a constant 23°. When this happens and I try to reduce the setting lower to say 18° and it still will not engage. When the sun comes up and the outside temperature rises the air con comes on. Some nights it works fine.
Is there a sensor or something in the outside unit that can be changed or adjusted? I have swapped the remote control with one from another room and it is the same.

That is only needed if applying based upon retirement. Only the covid 19 insurance is needed for other reasons to apply for a non-o visas and it would only need to be for 90 day entry the visa allows.
I understand your point and I stand corrected if you are right. I have been through the London COE page and nowhere is dependants visa mentioned. i therefore concluded that as her husband has a retirement extension that she would have the same insurance requirements because it is a dependant visa off of a retirement extension?

She should apply for a Non O visa as the dependant of someone on a long stay visa. Before going ahead, verify that there is no surprising restriction on acquiring a COE with such a visa. I do not think there is a problem.
The main alternative (assuming financial proof can be demonstrated) would be to enter Thailand visa exempt, and apply for conversion to a Non Immigrant entry for purposes of retirement. Unfortunately, there is no mechanism for apply for conversion to be a dependant of a foreigner with long stay status.
Your answer is 100% correct. I must add though that this will be treated as a new application, therefore she will have to get the 40k baht outpatient and 400k baht inpatient insurance as well as the $100k Covid insurance. This insurance is required for all new Non O applications as well as the OA. From the UK if the OP had an existing extension with a re entry permit only the $100 would be required. This could be costly for a 75 year old.

All I will say is to refer to the same link and read the section I posted. Which reads
"Required documents for the Certificate if Entry (apart from visa and re entry permit)."
What this means is that the required documents are for a COE unless you have an existing Non O visa and a re entry permit. I have had this confirmed by Kun Wichaya in the London Embassy. The list only applies to new Non O Retirement. I must state this is only the UK as other embassy's are interpreting it as you stated.
