More fool you for using an agent who deals with an office outside your area. That would be a definate no no from me. The agent I use deals direct with the Jomtien office where I live. Only dodgy ones deal out of area.

Jomtien Immigration.
This is one for those people who consistantly say that when you get a new passport you have to go in person to do a 90 day report and submit a new TM30.
I entered Thailand on September 28th carrying old and new passports. I was stamped in on new passport.
2 weeks after arrival I visited Jomtien immigration to change my retirement extension stamp to my new passport, a free and easy procedure. No mention of TM30.
Yesterday despite people saying it cant be done I submitted ONLINE a new 90 day report using my new passport. This morning it was approved until MARCH.
My TM30 is about 6 years old and I always return to the same address with my extension and a re entry permit. Nothing was mentioned about submitting a new one.
Many criticisms of Jomtien by people who dont know, but I always find them first class.

In Pattaya all the staff in the large Lotus's have to wear a mask. I give a silent laugh when I see them.

If that's the case from what I read why are Barclays closing lots of expat accounts.
Better safe than sorry is my motto and being scammed for a couple of hundred baht is far less painful than being asked to close down my country bank account.
UK credit cards are a different beast to UK banks. Using a no fee UK credit card raises no flags. They expect you to use abroad thats what they are for. I use mine all the time for years now.

I just use my no foreign transaction fee UK credit card for all my Lazada purchases. It saves having to wait in, it stops any scams. Works perfect every time. Cant use on Shopee though which means I dont use them. Obvously the people getting scammed either don't understand or don't bother looking at the item tracking. In our experience we get a call from the delivery driver prior to every delivery. Get scammed its your own fault.

Yes Roojai cheapest but its all great until you need to claim. I think they use preferred garages not main dealers as well. I have always used

Lots of confusion.
When renewing an extension of stay, it will only be renewed up to expiry of passport. FACT.
This year whilst in the UK I got a new passport even though it still had 18 months validity. I did this because I knew that when I renew my extension in May 24 that I would lose months on my extension.
On returning to Thailand I showed both passports old and new. They put arrival stamp in new passport. A few weeks later I visited immigration to transfer extension stamps over for free.
Dont be caught out and believe some of the drivil being posted in this thread.

Forgot to mention that i had a random home visit around 6 months ago !!, so that will make 3 in 13 months !!
Seems way over the top. I am at Jomtien and no under consideration or home visit for retirement extension here. In any case I go back to the UK with my Thai wife for 5 months every year. Waste of time trying to visit me.

This thread is not about you or your young ex bar girl wife, but you chose to try and make it that way. I have never been to Burnley, lived in Thailand for 19 years.
I meant Leicester sorry.
I have always wondered what It must be like living a life with an old woman might be Thai probably Farang. How would one cope she cant cook, falls asleep on the sofa all the time and her genitals have closed up through lack of use. I suppose it doesn't matter because that person isnt capable anymore anyway.
Talking about you just get your kicks watching young Thai girls dancing and singing. I have my eye on you my friend, I suggest you stop insulting me now. You have turned this personal by making insinuations about my wife just because she is an ex gogo girl.

Have you been promoted to forum detective" my views might be at odds with a former sex tourist in his 50's who sought out teenage bar girls in seedy Pattaya, but I'm quite happy they are!
I am very happy with my life thank you. Its a bit sad that all you can do is think about what your life could have been like from your council flat in Burnley.

You nave not addressed the issue: '15 months' designates the visa we are discussing. The financial requirements are much different, and as I said (& you publicly ridiculed) this is only done through an agent. Before you shame and blame others, please do your homework. This has been around for awhile; you've just forgotten (or ignored it).
First sadly Ubon Joe passed away earlier this year.
Secondly dont be rude to the people trying to help you.
Thirdly the only way you can get 15 months is if you convert from a visa exempt entry or a Tourist Visa to a Non O visa in Thailand (3 months) followed by an extension of stay based on Retirement (12 months). Total 15 months. Subsequent renewals are only 12 months as you already have the Non O and you now have an extension of stay.
To get this you can do it via an agent who will provide all the finance for a cost or you can do yourself with the required 800k in the bank.

In February of 2009, at Hua Hin Immigration, I converted a Tourist Visa to a Non-O and simultaneously obtained a one-year extension based on retirement that began at the end of the 90 days provided by the Non-O......so effectively I obtained a 15-month permission to stay. Whether any Immigration office will do that again is unknown to me but maybe that's what the OP is trying to talk about. But, as everyone else has said, there is no such thing as a single visa or extension that lasts 15 months.
Sorry wrong person lol

Nothing to do with what I think or grey areas, it's a matter for the law and commonly held principals, which agree that children should not be employed as prostitutes. Sex tourists in their late 50's seeking out teenage bar girls and thus supporting illegality in a business mired in corruption, depression, exploitation and drug abuse are morally reprehensible, and bordering on abusers. You brought your ex bargirl wife into the discussion as some sort of justification for under aged girls in the sex industry, it's not.
You really have a problem with the bar and entertainment industry here in Thailand don't you. What is your problem? You seem to assume that everyone who visits a bar is a sex tourist, this is way off the mark. I know many people who just come here to have a good time with friends, some even bring their foreign partners.
Perhaps you can share why you hold such puritan views?
How old are you?
Where are you based?
If in Thailand how long have you been here?
Are you a non drinker?
Do you visit church every Sunday?
It appears to me your views are way off the mark.
You will probably tell me to mind my own business, but it might help explain why.

A very confusing statement in my opinion!
My understanding is that 15 is the legal age of consent but if the woman is between 15-18 she may make a complaint;
From the link below;
"Thai laws state that any sexual relationship with minors aged 15, 16, and 17 is a compoundable offense.
In other words, the authorities will not pursue the guilty party of their own accord, but the underage participant can still press charges.
In short, it is possible to date someone who is aged between 15 and 17 years old. It’s even possible to have sex with them.
However, by doing so, you’re exposing yourself to the risk of being reported to the local authorities by her."

Exactly and this is what the holy holy member @proton cannot get his head around.

Why put ages on an open forum if it's nothing to do with anyone else? but are happy to let us all know you married a bar girl and you probably think she married you for love. So you were 58 when you married and she was 22 -when she won the lottery, not that is has anything to do with the topic of course.
You claimed a 15 year old bar girls is a grey area, it's not and as an old sex tourist seeking out young girls in bars you, and others, really ought to know that.
We are quoting ages because this is the subject of the topic we are discussing. The reason I said its a grey area is because many people think the age of consent in Thailand is 15 and not 18 as it is between Thai and Foreigner. Is it not the expectation of a customer who visits a bar to assume a girl is at least 18 years old? But as we know this is not the case. The problem over here in Thailand is that many many girls especially the smaller ones look young and underage but are in their twenties.
The problem with people like yourself is that you think you are morally right to lecture other people. Of course it is wrong to actively groom a young child under the age of consent especially if it then turns into something sexual. It is different if a tourist visits a bar and goes with a girl and she turns out to be underage. This goes back to my statement that its a grey area in the minds of the tourist, but I agree not in the eyes of the law.
By the way, there is absolutely nothing wrong with meeting a girl in a gogo and marrying her. My wife is a diamond, she demands nothing from me and I certainly do not pay her a salary or anything like a lottery win.

2 hours ago, proton said:That IS the case, not as you claimed a grey area. You married a 19 year old bar girl, how old were you? You were a criminal as was she according to the law. You might think it's a joke, that German guy will not be thinking so now.
I married her when she was 22, not 19, in any case, whats it got to do with you. I take it you are a purist who has never visited Pattaya and live in Nakon Nowhere. I am 36 years older than her and we have a great relationship both in Thailand and in the UK when we visit family and friends.

15 year olds in a bar is not a grey area, it's 100% illegal a girl needs to be 20 to go into a bar
section 9 prostitution act 1996
If the offence under the first paragraph is committed against a person over fifteen years but not over eighteen years of age, the offender shall be punished with imprisonment of five to fifteen years and a fine of one hundred thousand to three hundred thousand baht. If the offence under the first paragraph is committed against a child not over fifteen years of age, the offender shall be punished with imprisonment of ten to twenty years and a fine of two hundred thousand to four hundred thousand baht
Lol if thats the case then you can go and remove all the 15 to 20 year olds working in bars in Pattaya quite a high percentage by the way. Also all the Thai karaoke clubs across Thailand frequented by Thai men. My wife of 9 years was 19 when I met her working in a gogo, by that definition I am a criminal.

I'm re-entering on the same METV (not a new visa) but Jomtien Immigration have been clear that each & every time I enter on the same visa & stay at the exact same address, I must report a TM30.
At Jomtien if you are on an extension of stay based on Retirement or Marriage and you have a re entry permit. As long as you return to the same address you do not need to do a new TM30. You are talking about a visa not extension of stay.

That's because you are leaving and re-entering Thailand on a new visa every time (tourist visa or visa exempt entry). If you leave and return on same visa with a re-entry permit you don't need a new TM30
Correct

Jomtien immigration - congrats. You have to report your address via a TM30 each and every time you come back to Thailand, even if you are staying in the same place as before. All has to be done 72 hours within your entry, or get a nice 1,600 baht fine. If you don't need to do anything at immigration then you don't need to worry about a TM30. If you do, then welcome to the fun of TM30 each entry into Thailand.
You've gotta love Jomtien immigration, you can only do extensions one business day prior to stamp expiry too. I've wasted two trips there already and will have to make a 3rd trip one business day before stamp expiry.
Not true. I visited Jomtien immigration a few weeks ago to change my extension of stay stamp to my new passport. Nothing was said about doing a new TM30. I have had one on file for about 7 years as I always return to my registered address.
I have seen many scare stories of how bad Jomtien is now. That is not my recent experience. They have improved the way you get access to the different departments by issuing a ticket in an air conditioned separate building. I hear they have reverted to the old method of demanding all the photcopies and documents for a 90 day report, as I normally do online this is not an issue. However my next report will be with my new passport, I am hearing that I will have to do it in person. I will try online first as they have my new passport details so no reason why it shouldn't be possible online.

And sensible they are too. I keep as little as possible in my Thai bank accounts. Maybe transfer in 20 to 30k a month. I use my no fee excellent exchange rate UK credit cards for most things and pay it off in full from the UK when due.
