good for you but not my experience....and i would have been happy to come back later if only someone had told me and others that was an option...but no we were all told to go sit and wait and after 45 mins then the guy comes out and says come back later so another 45 mins (for me longer for some others) of waiting that could have been avoided IF someone had so advised.

So you had a wasted morning, what else did you expect? In and out in 5 mins? My last visit to Jomtien was a few weeks ago. I turned up at 09.45 to get my extension stamp transferred to my new passport. I was out of there by 10.00. Picked up my passport the next day. Easy

Granted I have never done a 30 day extension but its standard at Jomtien for a retirement extension. As an aside I always wonder why people go to immigration so early in the day. You gain absolutely nothing as many other people have the same idea. I have always gone about 09.30 no queues minimal waiting same deal, come back later to collect.

Due to  the weather, the  crazy  prices  of   1  pint of beer, and a beer shandy at  15 pounds ( not in central London)

Where did you go to drink that? The Ritz? I struggle to think of anywhere in the UK where you would have to pay £15 for a beer and a shandy. In a Wetherspoons it would be about £6 or £7, even in an expensive pub, no more than £12. Maybe you went to an exclusive club like Claridges.

  4. I sometimes think people who deal with the hassle of paying their bills must be bored and need something to do to fill there days. I pay my internet, Water and Electric by direct debit. You set it up and forget about it. I check to see if its all gone through if I have a need to go into the banking app. Easy.

They absolutely demanded it from me despite me using the transfer method and them having absolutely zero grounds to request it.  They refused to accept my embassy income letter 3 times until one of the volunteers finally intervened and told the actual officials they were wrong before they finally relented.  Even then I had to wait for the extension boss to count out the age of my income letter on his fingers first and then with a pad and pencil as he could not believe the letter was less than six months old and was one of the last one issued by the US Embassy before they ended this practice and was still valid.

Why are you commenting on something that obviously happened years ago. Its not relevant.

Note that while much, much cheaper than private hospitals (compared to BPH, about 25% the cost in general though it will vary with the treatment) , it will be difficult if not impossible to use insurance there. He would probably have to pay up front and be reimbursed and the level of documentation might not meet insurance company requirements for reimbursement.

There will not be direct payment  arrangement with insurer like there is at BPH.

BPH is the most expensive hospital in Pattaya area and one of the -- if not the -- most expensive in the country. There are some less expensive private options nearby e.g.

A far better option is Pattaya City that should be able to accomodate direct insurance billing. Cheaper than The Memorial nowdays.

Depends on what you call a long period. Thailand closed their borders in April and I could not return on my Non O extension based on retirement until December.

People with Non O extensions based on marriage were allowed in a month or 2 before.

Well as I have said before, I entered Thailand on 6th November. I am married to a Thai and I have a retirement extension. My initial comment was that the OP did not have an "enforced" period out of Thailand, it was certainly not as long as indicated.

Thailand closed their borders and the only people allowed in were Thai people on re patriation flights.

I was in the UK at the time and I was only able to return on my Non O  about 8 or 9 months after lockdown.

Then it was 15 nights quarantine

Yes they did close their borders to foreigners but not for long. All I know is that I left Thailand for the UK on July 10th 2020 and returned 6th November 2020 (14 days quarantine). I was then in Thailand until July 1st 2021 I went to the UK and returned to Thailand October 6th 2021 (7 days quarantine)

Do you ever post helpful advice.

The OP ask requirements regarding return to Thailand.

Of course I do. There are enough people in this thread giving the correct advice, no need for me to add anything. Thats why I posted an alternate view and that was in response to the OP using the word "enforced", when clearly he had a choice.
