Basically 2 pints. £7.50 each. Easily pay that outside london.
No chance mate, makes me wonder where you have been drinking. £7 for 2 pints more like it. Yes Wetherspoons are cheap but other places only a little bit more. When I waa in London in September I didnt pay nothing like £7.50 a pint.

Granted I have never done a 30 day extension but its standard at Jomtien for a retirement extension. As an aside I always wonder why people go to immigration so early in the day. You gain absolutely nothing as many other people have the same idea. I have always gone about 09.30 no queues minimal waiting same deal, come back later to collect.

Due to the weather, the crazy prices of 1 pint of beer, and a beer shandy at 15 pounds ( not in central London)
Where did you go to drink that? The Ritz? I struggle to think of anywhere in the UK where you would have to pay £15 for a beer and a shandy. In a Wetherspoons it would be about £6 or £7, even in an expensive pub, no more than £12. Maybe you went to an exclusive club like Claridges.

This is nonsense. I am assuming the guy is over 50. Just pay an agent and change from a marriage to a retirement extension. The agent will take care of the funds in the bank. Much cheaper than going home where an uncertain future awaits.

I sometimes think people who deal with the hassle of paying their bills must be bored and need something to do to fill there days. I pay my internet, Water and Electric by direct debit. You set it up and forget about it. I check to see if its all gone through if I have a need to go into the banking app. Easy.

Whereas more than acceptable, on the other hand, for those incompetent dimwits in charge of the HandyVisas website to do likewise, presumably?
I expect some 2 bit websites to publish incorrect info, but coming from an official source like the Thai embassy is unacceptable.

Note you only need a re entry permit to keep your permission to stay valid if the Non OA is expired. If within the validity of the visa a re entry is not required.

I thought the long weekend was Sat, Sun, Mon?
You are correct it is, however many Thai's also take the Friday before the weekend making it a 4 day holiday. I take your point though as technically you are correct.

You picked a bad day to go. Friday was a Thai holiday. Go back another time and maybe plan your visit better.

Wow!
Farangs that live in Phitsanulok seem to have made a very bad impression on the local Thais. Glad I don't live there.
Yes Phitsanuluk the hub of Thailand. I would imagine the number of Farangs living there would be relatively small.

They absolutely demanded it from me despite me using the transfer method and them having absolutely zero grounds to request it. They refused to accept my embassy income letter 3 times until one of the volunteers finally intervened and told the actual officials they were wrong before they finally relented. Even then I had to wait for the extension boss to count out the age of my income letter on his fingers first and then with a pad and pencil as he could not believe the letter was less than six months old and was one of the last one issued by the US Embassy before they ended this practice and was still valid.
Why are you commenting on something that obviously happened years ago. Its not relevant.

Note that while much, much cheaper than private hospitals (compared to BPH, about 25% the cost in general though it will vary with the treatment) , it will be difficult if not impossible to use insurance there. He would probably have to pay up front and be reimbursed and the level of documentation might not meet insurance company requirements for reimbursement.
There will not be direct payment arrangement with insurer like there is at BPH.
BPH is the most expensive hospital in Pattaya area and one of the -- if not the -- most expensive in the country. There are some less expensive private options nearby e.g.
https://www.phyathai-sriracha.com/
https://www.samitivejsriracha.com/
https://www.pattayamemorial.com/
A far better option is Pattaya City that should be able to accomodate direct insurance billing. Cheaper than The Memorial nowdays.

I was on a marriage extension for years. At first it was just a case of showing a photo of us outside the house. A few years ago they changed the requirements. At first they needed a photo of us in bed. Now they need 2 photo's to prove that we actually engage in marital activities. Problem is they need different photo's and positions every year. I have bought a copy of the Kama Sutra to give me some new ideas as its getting a bit stressful now at my advanced age of 100 years old.

Download the VYKE app on your phone. Top it up with credit and you can call any landline or mobile in the world. You can even buy a virtual sim number in most countries. Its very cheap.

I really wouldnt worry. I have seen immigration forms issued by immigration which had someones passport copy on the reverse side. Copies passport are a major thing over here.

Depends on what you call a long period. Thailand closed their borders in April and I could not return on my Non O extension based on retirement until December.
People with Non O extensions based on marriage were allowed in a month or 2 before.
Well as I have said before, I entered Thailand on 6th November. I am married to a Thai and I have a retirement extension. My initial comment was that the OP did not have an "enforced" period out of Thailand, it was certainly not as long as indicated.

Thailand closed their borders and the only people allowed in were Thai people on re patriation flights.
I was in the UK at the time and I was only able to return on my Non O about 8 or 9 months after lockdown.
Then it was 15 nights quarantine
Yes they did close their borders to foreigners but not for long. All I know is that I left Thailand for the UK on July 10th 2020 and returned 6th November 2020 (14 days quarantine). I was then in Thailand until July 1st 2021 I went to the UK and returned to Thailand October 6th 2021 (7 days quarantine)

Do you ever post helpful advice.
The OP ask requirements regarding return to Thailand.
Of course I do. There are enough people in this thread giving the correct advice, no need for me to add anything. Thats why I posted an alternate view and that was in response to the OP using the word "enforced", when clearly he had a choice.

You mean that you chose to stay in the UK when Covid and the lockdown hit. There was no restrictions on anyone leaving the UK who had a long term visa in Thailand. You would of course have had to quarantine in Thailand on arrival. I myself visited the UK between July and November 2020 and July and October 2021. No restrictions just quarantine

I havnt visited Jomtien immigration for at least 2 years as I have had an agent get my retirement extension and reentry permits, I do 90 day online.
Yesterday Tuesday at 09.45, as I have a new passport I needed to transfer the stamps.
What a breath of fresh air. A new building on the left with a large desk greeting you staffed by 4 people, giving you the correct queue number and any forms. There is also full air con to sit if required and a photocopying area.
The building in the middle the main building is the same as before but not busy at all. I had desk 8 ticket 22, it was on 21 already. A quick check of the photocopies and given a ticket to come back today after 1pm. Easy.
There is a 3rd building on the right for 90 day reports and TM30.
Well done Jomtien a totally professional easy experience.

Fun at Jomtiem immigration
in Pattaya

So you had a wasted morning, what else did you expect? In and out in 5 mins? My last visit to Jomtien was a few weeks ago. I turned up at 09.45 to get my extension stamp transferred to my new passport. I was out of there by 10.00. Picked up my passport the next day. Easy
