Had a problem with the neighbours dogs at night for a while. Bought an ultra sonic device on Lazada. No more barking.

The advice was in reference to the OP's girlfriend having received this wisdom from my own in the rice fields of Kalasin many moons ago. I did go along with it but not because I believed it.
Yer, my wife gets a bit jumpy when I go and sit out in the gazebo. It is made of aluminum so I'm convinced it will act as a Faraday cage in the unlikely event of a strike. But I could just be wrong!

We've had 2 good storms in the last week and I think we're building up for another one right now.

I don't go along with this advise. I don't think that lightning is quite that selective, but the old advise regarding standing under trees sure is valid. This one is only about 200 metres from the edge of our village. I read on the web that trees explode when they take a lightning strike. It's true. It really is!

What a sad attitude you have. Read this from the Liverpool Echo where his death was first reported:
"If you needed any help Roy would help you. He was such a gentleman. Everything to do with the King's Regiment - that was Roy. He couldn't do enough for people. He did a lot for ex-forces who passed away and their families''.
That's why friends and family are prepared to help. That's karma in action.

I am not quoting Government "Woke Titles" but stating what I believe to be common day UK ex service personnel usage and expressions between themselves!
UK ex-servicemen/women tend to refer to themselves as such and not as "veterans"!
I am stating that as a 28 year served ex serviceman and not as a veteran!
PS; I suggest that your last paragraph could have been written in clearer English!
I do not need to read your post again. We are, officially, whether you like the term or not, a Veteran of the UK armed forces. We even have a Veterans Association. Their website is right here. Be an old fuddy duddy if you wish but that doesn't alter the fact, so the O/P and the Liverpool Echo were both correct in using the term.
Regarding my second paragraph, yes I missed one word, but the sentiment is still quite clear. This thread is stuffed full of buffalo dung!

Could this be some unconnected people starting this fund and using a US expression to get a larger potential donation pool!
You are completely wrong about that. The government's website even has section devoted to 'Veterans UK'. You can visit it right here. Veterans UK And I am proud to be classified as one of them.
In passing, I've read most of the entries on this thread and I don't I've come across a bigger load of rubbish as I have today. So you're in good company.

Using AI to correct the grammar of our language could lead us into very murky waters.
English is my native language and I have a very sound knowledge of grammar, but I haven't got a clue what you're talking about. It hasn't hindered me and doubt whether it will hinder your students.
By the way, you're an English teacher I gather. What has become of capitalization?

Farmers don't have to own a tractor for what is seasonal work. Where I am, in Kalasin Province, there are those who have tractors for hire on a day-by-day basis. Same as machines for threshing the rice. When someone needs a tractor, they make a call.
2 hours ago, mfd101 said:Yes, totally agree. Same here in south Surin. Works well.
The same comments apply in our area near Sakon Nakhon. It is very rare to see a field burning nowadays, usually it's only a small plot which is difficult to access by tractor. The big bonus is that we enjoy good air quality for most of time. Right now we're in the green zone on the Air4Thai website (47 AQI) and that's metered in the city, not out here in the countryside away from the traffic.
Yes, in Thailand location is everything if you want a healthy environment.
Right, I'm off for a walk before the rain comes. 😃

A digital speedometer still working after such a smash....? So the power must have still be on?
The XMAX has an analogue speedometer and it's quite normal for the indicator needle to 'freeze in place' following an accident. They have no 'return to zero' spring. This is commonly used to determine the speed of a vehicle involved in an accident.
Incidentally, before the days of glass cockpits and flight data recorders, this attribute was also used by accident investigators following an airplane crash.

Calm down. Simply asked a question about a motorcycle red light situation. Didn’t realise a question would ruffle so many feathers!
Have a nice day ✌️
And stay safe!
I did not refer to any question, I was responding to the (off topic) comment below. I do not see a question mark.

And amazingly, most of are still around to tell of our experiences. I've been riding here for 10 years now (with an overall total of around 30 years) I have no qualms about riding here, in fact I enjoy it.
If it doesn't appeal to you that's fine, but please stop carping on about other peoples lifestyle choices. It's non of your business. Do you criticize sky divers, downhill skiers or SCUBA divers?

No value is lost; it's better for the community.
But...
Strangling somebody isn't like in the movies, with 10 seconds of UHM UHM and then death. It's hard to fully close the respiratory tract. During a fight, there will always be some extra gasps of air. An entire strangulation might take up to 5 minutes, including strangling them after they've become unconscious. So she might have been strangling him for 3 minutes during the fight and then an extra 2 minutes when he was unconscious, instead of leaving the apartment. This tells a slightly different story. And since the police are going to investigate and are considering charges... I think she would be better off if she just simply stabbed him to death instead.
What a load of rubbish. 'Strangulation can result in loss of consciousness within about 10 seconds and death within 4-5 minutes'.

Every time a topic such as this posted, I read the same sad stories and they all seem to stem from the same western obsession with meditation and often very dubious medication at that.
There is no doubt that much of my adult life has been plagued with the affects of childhood trauma. I'd never even heard of it until a few years ago,' but now that it is coming out into the open, I recognize the signs and symptoms in myself and in others, mainly the 'baby boomers' who are, in the main my peer group. Post war years, European and British.
My approach has been very different. No doctors, phycologists or analysts and definitely no dodgy medication or drugs. And it all started when I found this website a few years ago. I now practice Qigong twice daily and have benefitted hugely from dong so. Go and visit the website I've attached below. I could just turn your life around.

It is probably due to your building retaining the heat gained throughout the day. And heat rises, so you've got ten floors worth coming your way.

I have never used lazada wallet either. They put my refunds there and don’t allow me to spend it. I wish I was making it up.
why can’t they just refund to bank account anyway. I guess that’s not a thing. Convenient
I have had quite a number of refunds over the years I've been using Lazada. They have always been returned to the account from which I paid, be it my bank account or occasionally my UK credit card. I've never ever had a problem with a refund.
Now I use Truemoney wallet and it's even more efficient. Instant refund.

Personally speaking, I think that respect for the deceased and the sanctity of grieving family is more important that your idle curiosity.

There is a very big difference between a world renown celebrity passing away of natural causes and a private individual who commits suicide.

Yes, it's worked twice for me in my lifetime. Just up and go. And it works even better if you have, or she thinks you have, nothing more to give. Just do it.

Sometimes I read articles where they write about this famous person and that famous person. Often, I don't recognize the names. But if they include a picture, then I might think: Oh, that guy.
A couple of years ago I read about the death of a Thai diplomat. I didn't recognize the name. I recognized the picture, he used to live in "my" building and we exchanged a couple of words from time to time. I didn't know his official Thai name. Maybe I knew his nickname, I don't remember, it's too long ago.
I am sure I am not the only person who recognizes more people by picture than by name.
Personally speaking, I think that respect for the deceased and the sanctity of grieving family is more important that your idle curiosity.

Why? Think back over the many suicides that have been reported on this forum. How many of them featured a photograph of the deceased?
I can't recall any and I can't think of any reason why they should do so.

According to the figures that you posted earlier in the year @Mike Lister I will not be liable for tax here anyway, due to the fact that the bulk of my income is in the form of an UK armed forces pension, which they cannot tax anyway.
But I'd rather do without the irksome administration of having to prove that to them, so I opted for 'not planning to do anything differently'.
