  1. There are (or used to be) Minivans leaving from Central Pattaya Road (near Sukhumvit) to Bangkok (I think Rangsit). You can hop off right in front of DMK. I think it is/was about 180 Baht and took about 2 ½ hours.
  2. To make a will with a Thai lawyer costs at least 5,000 Baht and later the lawyer will act as the executor of the will. After the death bank accounts will be frozen (by the embassy) and every inheritance has to be verified by a Thai court. This process takes about 6 months. For assets in Thailand everybody should make an extra will as Thai law might be different to the law in your home country (e. g. compulsory portion). I found this website about making a will in Thailand: https://www.samuiforsale.com/family-law/forms-of-wills-under-thai-law.html I think you should check with your local amphur. In Pattaya you can do this every Wednesday afternoon.
  3. It’s easy to change the name. Sometimes Thais even change their given name. But then you have to get many new documents: Id-Card, housebook, passport, driving license, bank books, ownership of vehicles, … If she has children: documents concerning the motherhood and for the school … If she will ever inherit something in Thailand it might be a lot of paperwork or/and witnesses required to prove that she is really the legitimate heiress.
  4. I would look for a translation service in Bangkok. They can translate your ‘Affirmation of Freedom to Marry’ and then take it to your embassy where it needs to be legalized. And then they can take it to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the stamp from the embassy needs to be legalized. And then they can it send to you in Phuket. The link from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs: http://m.mfa.go.th/main/th/services/1303/24762-Procedure-of-Document-Authentication-by-Mail.html For the registration of your marriage in Phuket: Check out if you need to make an appointment as many Amphoes don’t register ‘walk-ins’ anymore (or at the moment). And some Amphoes don’t register foreign marriages at the moment (I have heard!?).
