He is no Mr. Bean, but I do enjoy Owen's comdey films.
The rest of the drama in this thread is just nonsense.

Thai Visa has become a Thai Soap Opera!

Not sure what all the hoopla with this thread. There are very few us citizens giving up their PP, and those that are have the means to do so - their decision IMHO compared to those wishing to gain US citizenship.
As far as FATCA . Yes a little paperwork involved. I have several overseas accounts and have had no problems being compliant. I also have a good CPA that keeps my tax bill to what I believe to be a fair amount .
Allot to do about nothing in this OP.

Regarding the kettlebell. It may be easier and less expensive to just bring a "kettle bell handle", then just purchase a few 10lb and odd plates in Thailand........
Google: Kettlestack Adjustable Kettlebell handle

The FBAR has been mandatory for at least five years now,
I think what he was saying is, The FUBAR will have to be filed via the website starting in July, IE no more paper, mail in forms allowed.

We can correctly criticize the overreaction of the USA and allies in response to 911. I certainly do. But to turn that justified criticism on it's head to justify SUPPORT of radical Islamic fundamentalist terrorism is a bridge WAY too far.
I concur

Freedom fighters? 911? Radical Islamic fundamentalist mass murderers? People totally intolerant of anyone who doesn't follow some twisted distortion of Islam? What an insult to the innocent victims. I think they are the OPPOSITE of freedom fighters. I don't call them cowards because they were willing to die for their cause, but I do call them terrorists and enemies of freedom.I've rephrased your ingenuous response from the other side so to speak:
Who exactly is the CIA?
Who elected them, or are they self-chosen?
Why do they think they have the right to lecture and pontificate about the correct methods of torturing brave resistance members who revenged the murder of hundreds of thousands of people by American backed regimes and invasions of countries in contravention of the Geneva convention?
Although I am not a Muslim, I believe the courageous freedom fighters had the right and duty to destroy the people responsible for North American genocide and wars, and any organisation behind them, by any means possible. If that includes 911, then so what? It would not have been worse than what the people suffered in.....(if you need a history lesson in US imperialism, it can be found here):
JT,
I was using "Shantaram's" description of them in his prevous posts.
I in no way see them as freedom fighters.

Shantaram,
I admire your idealism, although I believe your justifucation for the 911 attacks is extremely misguided. I doubt I will change your mind and I know you wont change mine. Regardless of your "passive" support for the so called freedom fighters, I wish you no ill will.
You say your are not a Muslim. Personally would not bother me if you were. But you may not want to divulge that info to your freedom fighters, they may not be as open minded about non belivers as I am.
At the end of the day, you have picked your side. I just hope your able to live with the consequences if your freedom fighters were to succeed at their goals.

Who exactly are "Open Society Justice Initiative"?
Who elected them, or are they self-chosen?
Why do they think they have the right to lecture and pontificate about the correct methods of capturing terrorists who murdered thousands of people?
Although I am not a U.S. citizen, I believe the U.S. government had the right and duty to destroy the people responsible, and organisation behind them, by any means possible. If that includes torture, then so what? It would not have been worse than what the people in the Twin Towers and the airplanes suffered.
If other governments had the courage to act as the U.S. did, then this scourge of Islamic terrorism could be contained and reduced much more effectively. Thailand take note of what is happening in the southern provinces!

There have been many countries throughout history involved in "Imperliasm, Colonialism, among many other nefarious activities". With an atttidue like yours - we (the world) will be in perpetual war.
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

I take one or two teaspons of ACV a day. I mix it with cold water and orange flavored Metemucil because I do not like the Vinegar taste. Also, keeps me regualr:)))
You should use the unfiltered/undistilled version. With "mother" as they call it. You will see the sentiment settled in the bottom of the bottle. Shake before using. They sell the Bragg's brand at the Market located under the Central Mall Pattaya. At least they did about 6 months ago.
You should be taking it for 3-6 months before noticing any benefits.

Sorry to hear the news. Hope he turns up safe.
Perhaps the cell phone options is a good start. Not sure, but maybe if he is reported as missing they can track his location via cell signal...

the whatwasit 130b? local license would pay off in half a day.
Please tell me where to get this; I will buy one tomorrow, no joke.
Keep in mind I don't live here full-time, only during high seasons.
I am in Pattaya south - Thank you!
Maybe now you can figure out the difference between retiring here, and just visiting, albeit for half a year at a time. Most of us know where to get a Driver's License...and have jumped through the hoops to actually do it.
BTW, you can get an International Driving Permit at any Auto Club in the US, valid for the same period as your state driver's license - I think it's $5. So, yes, even at this great expense, you have to comply with local laws when you visit their country...
LOL - retired here my A&&.
Actually, it is only valid for 1 year, I spent IIRC some 100 dollars for an IDL. Finally just acquired my Thai license as it was cheaper in the long run.

"Captain Black" pipe tobacco. Don't smoke fags, they are for poofters ....But I fail to see how this is Thai related.
Anyway, have fun with it.

Perhaps you should stick to being serious. A fatty one enjoying a smeely heart disease causing egg yolks does not bother me...or my arteries. A stinky cigarette does bother me though
But it bothers some people as does somebody with too much perfume. Shouldn't it be up to an individual business to decide if they want to allow smoking or serving eggs or people wearing too much perfume?
I have read many posts you have subscribed on different issues and you have always put up a reasonable argument. But this time you sound like a child arguing over a toy !
Whats the question? again....

nice bunch of people we have here. Apparently smokers is on a par with shop lifting, and others are almost Saudi in their response to the vicious crime of dropping a fag but.
Smokers are an easy target for the filth to extort money. Simple as that. The same cops all smoke, and drop their buts on the floor. There actions have nothing to do with policing and everything to do with extortion. The same as everything else they so. They are not a police force they are a criminal moneymaking racket. I am amazed that anyone would ever rush to their defence. They are incompetent fools who are not fit to be called police. Because they are not. They have even reduced to the entrance exam into a method for people to buy their way in. Each promotion would be bought and paid for. I heard the other day from a chap whose Dad is in the police that the police housing in Chokchai 4 is mostly sublet because even the newer recruits con good enough dime to live in a nicer house.
It is no different to them extorting protection money from businesses (which they do, as do the army, and the mafia gangs as well). It is no different from the extorting money from motorists whose only offence was driving a car near the end of the month and the coppers want some ore cash. Why is everyone attacking smokers? The police here are scum. Sure there are irresponsible smokers same as the drinkers who puke up their guts, cause fights, and all sorts (the two are not mutually exclusive). I find a puddle of puke a lot more offensive than a fag butt on the floor.
The lack of bins are not because of security. Cripes, there is so much crap on the streets of this country that you could put a few large boxes of bomb materials anywhere and no one would pay attention to them. Thailand is so wrapped up in its own image of itself believing they are a world player ( ) that they think they are a target? Well no - they have 2 ladies on each bit of street paid to walk up and down to pick up rubbish. Even if there was not any rubbish they would still be employed to do so because giving people jobs is more important to Thais (especially when they most likely had to pay a bribe to get the job) and it is cheap cheap cheap. Have bins.... you need a truck to pull away the rubbish and then that creates havoc on the roads because they have no concept of managing things. At all. Except extortion. Which they are good at.
Each BTS station has at least one copper on the bridge looking out for Farangs dropping cigarette buts. that is his job. To make money. I and would think to get that job he has and is paying a job lot of cash to his superiors.
Rise up fellow smokers - read my thread about cat and mouse with the coppers and bore them into submission.
I see a new movement, OBKK, Occupy Bangkok......
