  1. I am surely thus duly qualified to be an expert ....... in a number of fields .😉 Hey, but at least when i comment here on this site i have firsthand experience on the subjects at hand .
  2. and on top of that...... my Thai GF weighs 95 pounds . back where i came from the average is 195 pounds ..... with an attitude .
  3. that's true ...... bbbut ...... the problem for many is that they did not foresee the out of proportion increases in everything within the Medical Complex . Which is out of control, as are the "necessary" increases by their cohorts: insurance companies. of course our govt elites do not have to worry about the costs . they are guaranteed a very nice retirement 🙂 , which they enacted for themselves .
  4. My experience is only what i read here on this forum . The main thing i have seen is that almost everyone ( some exceptions) posts that their premium keeps going up ( a lot) , even they have no claims. Then there are the stories ( agonies) of those fighting with the companies (stressful) to get their claim paid for . Then there are guys like me. I have always saved through the years ( and i did NOT make big big bucks) ..... knowing that some day i would get old . I have also taken care of my health as best i can , though of course i have some issues. I pay for those myself , and if i ever have a "major" issue my savings over the years, not giving it to insurance "providers" , is in the bank where i can get to it . And the funniest part is ............ they either wouldn't cover me now (over 70), or if they did the cost would be huge, as well as the things they would not cover . Self insure..... it worked for me . Or, gamble that your company will "just say no "
  5. i am not surprised (at all) that you have garnered more negative emojis than the one positive .... for this viewpoint . My guess is that for every thousand "good servants" that follow the beaten path of mediocrity and conformity ..... there is maybe one or two that decide for themself what path they want to take. How many actually manage to succeed , by finding an alternative and rewarding lifestyle which they will not sacrifice for money or acceptance.... well, very few . ooops. there i go. off topic again 🙂
  6. You must be a real talent if she came three times !
  7. it is odd..... maybe just a small "error" which can sometimes lead to big confusion .
  8. OK.......... skimming through the "news report" from May 28..... the ONLY mention of interest to those who must fulfill the insurance requirement was this section , which specifically mentions the O-A visa : (1) ปรับลดเงินประกันสุขภาพสำหรับการตรวจลงตราประเภทคนอยู่ชั่วคราว (Non-Immigrant) รหัส 0-A จากเดิมจำนวน 3,000,000 บาท ให้เหลือเท่าก่อนสถานการณ์การแพร่ระบาดของโรคติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 (โควิด-19) คือ 40,000 บาทสำหรับผู้ป่วยนอก และ 400,000 บาท so, i hope members will stop trying to have the same fate placed on plain Non-0 holders who are NOT required to buy insurance to extend their stays in this nice place 🙂
  9. thx.....sorry for the xtra posts ( was not going thru )
  10. OK ............. assumptions and most likely's are now open again . i
  11. my take from reading it ( the correct one 55 ) is : (7) Category Non-Immigrant Code O (L-A)
  12. comment from Ojas (another baseless opinion).... not Liquorice who answered it very well ! "There is no merger with the O and O-A visa. Both are separately listed as still being available."
  13. THAT would be a serious bummer. No hope for me at 75. Here is just ONE great example of someone giving a baseless opinion (P9) which then scares unblocktheplanet and surely some others .... these threads do nothing to help.... just mostly assumptions or misconceptions of some members. On the list there is a simple Non-O option , which many retirees have used for years . myself included. The requirements did not change before (regarding health insurance NOT required) ..... and it ain't gonna change now . that is what is most likely ! and that's all i got to say about that !
  14. exactly . but we will still have another 20 pages of what ifs, etc etc . those with O-A visas are, and have been p@ss- off that they have to do the insurance thing . I would be too . but.... wishing that those with simple non-o visas having to do the same ? Sure, nobody said as much ...... but keep hinting at the fact and talking about merging the two is not gonna help. life ain't fair. and there will always be guys who take it out with sad emojis instead of figuring another way ..
  15. you mean the aussie masters still let you grow veggies and have chickens ?
  16. gotta agree.... I think many here enjoy the "best of both worlds" .... living 15 or 20 km away from the concrete jungle .
  17. my lady comes from Khon Kaen. her dream was to meet a farang and live in Chiangmai . I just happened to be available 555 she definitely likes the North more than Isaan ....... prettier, not as much stealing , likes the character of northern people more .. to name a few things. and our house ! what a beauty !
  18. Yep , then she got married . To Mr. Dumb. Last i heard she was now with Mr. Dumber . Maybe you saw the movie ? Its played out every day in the Land of Smiles ..... I finally decided on Madam Ru . We happy Mak . Though sometimes I do miss madam dum 😆
  19. oh.... i think she's been found many a time .....
  20. I am actually amazed that there are , at latest count, 24 other AN members who understand, and agree with what you just wrote. ! ( i am one of the agreers )
  21. or.... ask for a second opinion from another Ex wife .. !
  22. Most common glaucoma med (drops) are latanaprost (xalatan brand name) ... and heat sensitivity is an issue .There are other types of drops as well . i would not recommend sending any. The Walmart suggestion is good. Even a general doctor visit is costly .... to say the least. Always amuses me when people say the cost of living here in Thailand is getting close to Western countries (US being the main culrprit ...) My glaucoma meds if bought at pharmacy cost me 650 baht for one, 130 baht for another . No script needed. Once in a while i go to govt hospital to check my eyes, and eye pressure (every 6 months) .... total cost 150 baht , and they smile at me .
  23. The thing about glaucoma meds is that they still do NOT improve the reading comprehension of people. a. op got on a plane b. op got off plane... IN USA (which requires prescriptions for the glaucoma meds) ... ( for our own safety, of course .... SARCASM .... ) c. obviously OP gets the glaucoma med here in Thailand .. and yes, don't need a prescription ....... d . ??? got it
  24. Thanks Sheryl... i agree. I have researched the HA injections well , and for my situation they could be a real knee saver. I am an "oldie" .. but good health except for the surprise of knee pain about 8 months ago, and they are slowly getting more sore and the stretch, light exercise has not worked . ( in contrast, 3 years ago i broke my hip and after surgery was walking within a few months and without any pain after a year .) I was just curious about that stem cell post .. thus my questions . I will getting a "one shot" dose in each knee of a Swiss brand viscoelastic solution . (HA injection)
