  1. On the flip side I love it when I’m in a bank or government office and a western expat is struggling to be understood, it seems that they believe that saying it exactly the same way but louder has more chance of being understood.
I must admit I have been guilty of it at times. Still hilarious to see others do it too

  2. I started using MadMuhammad for quite a few things from 9/11 onwards, even more so with the Charlie Hebdo incident, the escalation of terrorist attacks and and the ‘rise’ of ISIS and the like.
My way of poking fun at something that at the time was extremely unnerving and changing the world as I knew it

What's the chances a cheap and cheery 'motorbike' from china will have a tested and approved battery?

While on the subject of PEA, their Smart App seems to be up the Swannee.

I have used it successfully for over 6 months, easy to pay the bill via Banking. This week I opened it up and it said there was an upgrade, so I clicked YES. Got one of two messages, either my phone is not compatible (Huawei on AIS) or not available in my country, (I am in Thailand).

Went to local PEA office where a techie first uninstalled the app, then could not find it in Google Play Store. Tried to install on a 'blank' Samsung with the same results.

A student in the office then came to tell me that the upgrade is no good and will be sorted in the coming weeks. I asked if this meant that no-one in Thailand can use the app, to which I got a giggle.

Has this happened to any members on here?

I wasn’t aware there was an app. I scan the QR on the bill via my banking app (I’m sure you’re aware, just a PSA)

It happened before.  Remember SARS in Hong Kong???

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7522648/

In summary, the possibility of fecal-oral infection remains in debate. Thus, further research is needed to examine possible occurrence of fecal-oral transmission.

Another concern is the inhalation or aspiration of fecal particles, as well as its direct contact with skin and eyes (Hoseinzadeh et al., 2020). During the SARS-CoV-1 outbreak in Hong Kong, 2003, the leakage in household sewage pipe was likely associated with 319 infection cases due to the spread of aerosolized fecal particles (Naddeo and Liu, 2020; Wigginton et al., 2015). Dense interconnected sewage pipes via tees, ferrules and other fitting devices may have high opportunities to be busted and leaked, causing the spread of contaminated sewage.

So you're telling me I can get covid from farts?

  8. I travelled to 25 or so countries in 6 years Or so but still returned to Thailand 30+ times in that period.
I initially moved her because fo the freedom from over policing (political correctness & road rules especially, the weather, the food, cost of living and at first the stress free approach to sex and relationships (compared to back home)

I sold all my worldly possessions, and gave a bunch to my mum and came here to create a life. I’m now married and own a home so I doubt I’ll be going anywhere anytime soon. Suits me just fine as the positives far outweigh any negatives I can think of

I transfered 250£ from my HSBC business account in UK to my Wise account.

Money left HSBC instantly and arrived in seconds at Wise.

Got email from Wise they need more informations before they can release the funds.

Which company, where based, why I did send the money etc.

    What a load of rubbish.

    That's my company.

Do they think I am money laundering 250£?

I've been questioned by Wise twice and my Australian bank I transfer from once in the past 9 months.  ie: where do the funds come from, where are they going, proof of source. How they choose who gets checked seems to be random though

If I am about to send a large amount to a new recipient, I always send a token amount of a couple of dollars first and confirm they received the money. Then I send the full amount to them.  You have to realise that the recipient might also make a mistake with their number, not just the person sending or his wife.

Yes sir. I learnt the not so hard but very stressful way. All transactions are thoroughly checked and tested now

I was on the receiving end of botched PromptPay transfer earlier this year.  I was sitting on the sofa reading a book late on a Sunday evening  when I got a call purporting to be from a bank call center (name starts with "K").  The young lady claimed that one of their customers had accidentally transferred 60,000 baht into my account via PromptPay (she was one digit off with the phone number and clearly didn't check the name before pushing the fire button).  I checked my online banking app and lo and behold, yep, an unexpected deposit for 60K.  So I confirmed to the "K" lady that I had received it.  She then asked me to send it back, at which point I got a bit suspicious.  I said no, let me talk to my bank in the morning (it was 11pm at this point) and determine what the correct procedure was.  She said she understood my reluctance and that the proper procedure was for the sender to go to the police station, get a police report, and then take that to her "K" branch...she was just hoping to take a short cut, as the money was rent on a commercial property.

In any case, about 2 weeks later I received a registered letter from my bank with all the transfer details and instructing me to go to the branch and authorize them to return the money.  This I did the next day and about 4 hours later I got a call from the grateful sender (who remembered the number she had accidentally entered) who thanked me profusely for my honesty: I guess she was half expecting me to spend the money and ignore the letter from my bank.

One thing my bank told me was that the "K" bank call center staffer was wrong to ask me to return the money directly - always use the official process , time-consuming as it might be.  Lots of scams out there.

I appreciate your comment. My personality type is that of a ‘pleaser’ so my instant instinct would be to immediately return and bask in the warmth of a good deed done. Something which could obviously backfire horribly.
Your comment will assist me to step back and take the correct course to action in the future if ever needed

Did the transfer show the name of a recipient?

We have transferred money to the wrong account number before, but the account number did not exist.

The money was automatically reversed and it appeared back in it account a few days later.

Reminds of the time last year I sent 2mil baht to the wrong bank! SCB and Standard Chartered Bank mix up ????????‍♂️
