Thanks.
I'm using my BAY Mee Tae Dai (or whatever it's called) savings account. As it is where I keep my Thai money (not daily cash account) I keep it with no internet or debit card, only ATM and bank book, for security.
Guess I will be checking the local BAY atm quite a lot this week.
Thanks.

Yes, sent in Euro, not to be exchanged until in Thailand, declared for purchase of a condo.
How do I know when it arrives, I presume the bank (BAY) call me to inform me?
-
that's what they said to the remitter.
Maybe they give a wide time frame so it seems to arrive early if it happens to arrive in 3 days.
Provincial city to Dublin, to Bangkok (presumably without another bank in between) then to my branch.
Will be good if it arrives early, but not too bothered about the time frame.

Ikea is cheap, but can get solid wood furniture at reasonable prices.
I find that Homepro and Index are mainly laminated and not real wood.
I haven't lived or really been in CNX since 2006.
I would be after something like the HEMNES range at Ikea. Dark stained solid wood set, at affordable prices (about the same as Ikea).
15k, 8k, 8k, 5.5k baht respectively for these.
Can anybody help with a store that has such things (Homepro and Index seem to be laminated/covered and not solid wood), or a market where such sets are sold.
Thanks very much.

The funds were transfered yesterday morning Irish time, provincial city, they first need to go to Dublin (capital city), and the estimated arrival in Thailand on Friday. 5 working days.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the replies.
I have checked with the building and as it is a top floor condo with a big loft above it, they said that the compressors usually go in the loft, and then just come down through the roof to the AC units in the condo.
There might be some guys that a property developer I know. I would ask for a quote of 2 compressors and 2 aircons, and 1 compressor and 2 aircons.
Thanks.

The Jail time will never take place too.
-
Yes, the condo next to mine has two compressor boxes under their windows.
-
Sure. Thanks.
It's the bracket for the outside compressor that might be an issues as it is 7 stories up, and would require them hanging out a big window to bolt it into the wall below it.
Not the easiest thing to do.
-
Is it possible to buy one aircon unit first, and then at a latter date add a second unit to the same box?
Or does a box designed for 2 separate aircons need both connected to run?
-
Yes, it does.
Thanks, great help.
"A BIC (Bank Identifier Code) is the SWIFT Address assigned to a bank in order to send automated payments quickly and accurately to the banks concerned. It uniquely identifies the name and country, (and sometimes the branch) of the bank involved. BICs are often called SWIFT Codes and can be either 8 or 11 characters long.Bank of Ireland’s BIC is BOFIIE2D"So the SWIFT code for my Bank Account is the 8 digit BIC code. AYUDTHBKThai banks don't use the 11 digit version which is the same code but with 3 digits added to specify the branch, Thai banks also have an IBAN. -
I'm doing a transfer for a small amount - less than 1m baht.
For this small amount a Tor Tor 3 - FET Cert. isn't required. A letter from the bank is needed.
What is required is that the money lands in Thailand as your home currency and not Thai baht.
If the sending bank exchanges to Thai baht before the transfer to Thailand, it cannot be used to purchase a condo.

I'm just buying a small condo near the train station.
2 rooms - 32 sqm downstairs, and upstairs bedroom 18 sqm.
I need to the whole thing painted, all walls and ceilings except for the bathroom.
I live in BKK and will be coming up and down over the next month.
The first thing I need to do is get it painted.
Can anybody give me the name and number of a painter they have used or know and could recommend?
We could contact them and they could go and see and give us a quote.
Would be great if someone can give us the details of someone they know.
Thanks very much.
-
Great, thanks.
I believe it is Bank of Ireland.
-
I need 2 aircons for 2 adjacent rooms. one is 32sqm and the other 16 sqm.
Neither have any aircon currently installed.
Can I buy 2 aircon units to run off a single outside box (compressor?) ?
Also, they are 7 stories up with no balcony, just big wide windows, but no bracket to hold the box.
What do aircon companies do? Hang out the window on a harness and drill and bolt in the bracket to hold the box??
Thanks very much.

We are making a SWIFT transfer today to purchase a condo.
SWIFT Transfer from Ireland to my Krungsri BAY bank.
The SWIFT code is: AYUDTHBK.
The family member taking care of the SWIFT transfer from Ireland was told by the Irish bank they need the BIC and IBAN.
The BAY website says nothing of these and from reading on the net, I believe that the BIC code (Bank Identifier code) is the another name for the SWIFT Code, except that it has the 3 digits code for the bank branch. (332, for my branch), so presumably the BIC code would be AYUDTHBK332.
But Thailand doesn't use BIC, they just use the Swift code without the branch identifying digits.
And that the IBAN code (International Bank Account Number) can be used instead of the of the SWIFT/BIC code, and that Thailand doesn’t have IBAN codes for their banks.
The person transferring the funds from Ireland passed on that they were told they need the BIC and IBAN codes.
No one involved has done a SWIFT transfer before.
Please help if you have done one before from a country requiring BIC/IBAN codes to Thailand.
Thanks.

Thanks, but just out of personal preference I like to keep that account as electronically free as possible. ATM (non debit card) and bank book both kept in separate safe locations being the only connection to the account. Works for me. A few runs to the ATM won't do me any harm.
