  1. Sound about right to me for Insurance in Thailand, I'm Paying 18500 bt per years(1st class Insurance(3rd party)) for my 2007 4X4. Maybe a bit on the expensive side but I would like to leave home without it. I would also strong suggest that any farangs that on and drive in Thailand have/buy the very best insurance possible and keep the name and telephone number of your agent to call in case of an accident in your car and on your person at all time. :D:):D

  2. My Two Baht worth, they are both about the same had CAT for two years, some fast times and then at times very slow, call center was the PITY, switch to TOT things were better at first, but same as CAT very slow at times, call center is so so, put you on hold for five minutes or more waiting for an English speaker, a real DOWNER!! For me I will stick with TOT for now, I've heard some good reports about other ISP, but just not sure if it is worth the time and effort to switch again. :):D:D

  3. WOW!! pretty DAMAGING EVIDENCE if CCTV is right on, however; maybe for the sake of the Country or good tourists relation maybe just showing them this CCTV proof, make them pay and send them on their way with a Blacklisting for any return trip to Thailand could have suffice :) >just a thought. :D:D

  4. The only one I know of that will fit your requet is The Lao Plaza Hotel, however it will set you back around 8000-10000 bt per night(U.S.$210), now mine you this was a few year back now(???) :):D I would suggest changing some cash to Baht, I heard recently and I know for a fact a few years back when I was there ATMs nil to none, there is a Bangkok Bank and a Siam Commerical Bank in the capital Vientiane but as I recall service was limited. :D:D:D:D

  5. In my area there is a big hold sale market where all the farmer bring there produce for sale, I would suggest you check your area for such a market, bet you could make some good contacts there, might even find a farmer that would be will to help you out for a small fee. :D:D:):D:D

  6. Did anyone see any "Ballpark Franks" - at all - at the Independence Day Celebration"?

At 2:30 in the afternoon - when the gates first opened - they were serving skinny dogs that seemed to have come from a Thai convienience store and I have not met even one person who thinks that they saw a big, juicy Ballpark Frank all day.

Perhaps I am being petty, but they were advertised everywhere and a large percentage of the expats that I know went especially on account of those franks and would like to know to know where they vanished to. When I left in the early afternoon everyone waiting in line outside was asking about them and I felt bad saying that they seemed like boiled, 7/11 specials to me.

What happened to the real deals? Where is Nancy Drew when you really need her?

Petty?? Yeah a little bit, just get in mind TIT, aka., This is Thailand.

Another Amazing Thailand experience in which one pays a tax on a tax on a tax on a tax...

I recently imported some tractor parts from Italy and got an unexpectedly high bill for additional charges from the courier, UPS. Imagine my surprise to find from the very friendly and helpful UPS people that 10% duty is applied not only to the goods, but also to the courier charge. Imagine my further surprise to find that Customs stick on a per-kilogram charge BEFORE they calculate the 10% duty, and then imagine my diminishing surprise (by this time) to find that Revenue Department charges 7% VAT on the whole lot, including the duties.

And then imagine my complete lack of surprise to find that there was a further "taxable charge" payable to UPS (presumably for sorting out the above) and yet another 7% VAT on that. So I paid Thai VAT on a service to pay Thai VAT on a Thai duty on a Thai duty.

The figures (Thai Baht) worked out as follows:

    a. cost of goods - 2,724.50

    b. air freight charge - 4,301

    c. Thai customs charge (300 per kilo) - 900

    d. insurance (for something or other) - 70

    e. Sub-total - 7,995.50

    f. Thai customs duty (10%) on ALL of above - 799

    g. VAT on both (e) AND (f) - 615

    h. Taxable charge - 150

    i. VAT on (h) - 10.50

    j. Grand total - 9,570

From the above trouser-emptying experience, you can work out that the total import tariff comes to 85% of the value of the goods!! Riap Roi? Or Rip Off?

    Not Really Amazed At All

    Phang Nga

:D:D Tax paying anywhere SUCKS :):D but something we must do.

  8. OK, I know this isn't a Thai language post so feel free to move moderator.

Can someone please be so kind to translate the following into German (preferably a native German speaker please):

    1. Thai Massage

    2. Oil Massage

    3. Foot Massage

    4. Outdoor services available

The outdoor services means will come to your hotel.

I'm trying to help a Thai friend out.

    Thank you in advance.

Strange Post, trying to help a Thai friend out by translation to German :):D:D

  9. Sound like the computer shop is right on, My Acer 3 year not a problem yet. I would suggest a second opinion, maybe time for a new laptop, seem some good one all brand name(Acer, HP, Del, etc) selling NEW for less than 14000. :):D:D

  10. You know those tanning studios around every corner in our home countries, giving you a nice tan and making you look like you just spent a few weeks in sunny Thailand? Where are they in Bangkok? :D

Weird question, I know. But before you suggest a hike to the beach, I'm really looking for a tanning studio (or solarium, whatever you call it). I just don't have the time to lay on the beach all day and even if I had, I'd rather have a full body tan than some white spots.

So, has anyone seen one in Bangkok...? :D

Fairy Question, if they are on every corner in your home country, why come here to find one, what a WASTE of time and your money :D:D:D:D MONEY I got it cheaper here :):D

  11. (sbk is going out to dinner with tutsi from now on..... :D)

Went to the Sizzler in Bangkok once, had a burger so dry it made the Burger King burger seem pretty good. For the price, it was definitely not worth it.

Yes it is worth, it is 150 percent BETTER in price and quality/quanity then that WIMPY thing at Pizza Hut, aka, Pizza Company, hey Pizza hut/pizza company listen UP :) :huh:Your salad BAR is WIMPY!!

  12. Hi!

I find the salad bar in Sizzlers to be a pretty good deal.

However, the bacon bits seem to have a funny taste/texture to me.

I'm just wondering... is it just my imagination?

Are they "artificial" or "real" bacon bits?

Anyone know the answer to this?

Real or Artifical DARN GOT ME, I just fill my soup with the stuff, barely notice the taste, just trying to leave room for the JELLO!! :):D yes it is a decent salad bar, the one in our area all you can eat Bt149. :D:D:D:D
