  1. I am visiting here and forgot my Chlorthalidone at home. It is also called Chlorthalid, Hygroton, and Thalitone I believe. I went to a pharmacy today to get some and they said it wasn't very common in Thailand. Can anyone on this forum let me know if they have purchased this and where (in Bangkok). Thanks and Salud.
  2. https://www.taosnews.com/news/taos-bark-how-to-protect-yourself-from-loose-dogs/article_6b624aca-f83d-572d-a7c1-50eff7470ad2.html This link is an informative article on the aggressive dog problem, although I think it is a bit on the lightweight side. I am an avid bicyclist and walker and also a victim of an aggressive dog when a child (30 stitches). I find soi dogs in thailand some of the most aggressive I have ever encountered. And it is a problem, just look at all the kids (and adults) that are attacked in Thailand (and my country, the USA). Owners fault for sure, but you do have a way to protect yourself (as I have). I use either a spray solution of vinegar and water or a pepper spray, depending on weather I am walking or riding and which route I am traveling. Neither hurts the dog permanently and both will teach the dog not to aggressively attack people on the sidewalk. I know dog lovers and some owners will very much disagree with these tactics but I am convinced they will get results and leave the dog unharmed.
  3. Hello: I don't send much on ASEAN as rarely have much to say but I want to make a positive comment about hair transplants especially in Thailand. I have had 3rd transplant in my life and the 3rd one was 5 years ago at Absolute Hair Clinic in Bangkok (absolutehairclinic.com) by Dr. KongKiat Laorwong. First one was in the USA 25 years ago so folks are correct in saying you will probably have more than one, but they are spread out over many years. Minor pain for only 5 minutes when they administer the anesthetic by needle. Stings a little but very tolerable. Dr. KongKiat Laorwong is world renowned for his skill in transplants and I will probably return for my 4th transplant and last one in Dec. 2022. Just a final fill-in for density. This doctor is the best and I highly recommend him. A bit pricey for FUE type transplant but he will do the transplant without shaving your head, which is preferred by me. I would recommend you go to absolutehairclinic.com and most of your questions will be answered. Then if you want, go for a free consultation. I am only a patient of Dr. KongKiat and am not correlated to the clinic in any other capacity. General Comment: There are those that are truly comfortable being bald and this is to be admired. Unfortunately, I am not one of these individuals and feel no guilt for feeding my vanity even at 75 years of age. And you shouldn't either!
  4. I rarely post messages on ThaiVisa (I think 6 times) but thought I had something to share that some may find interesting. I spend only 6 weeks in SE Asian in a year and only 10 days of this time is in Thailand. I am a 75 year old male living full time in San Diego CA and spend considerable time at my home in Mazatlan Mexico. I stayed away from Mexico until I was fully vaccinated (Feb, 2021), at which time I started flying again from Tijuana, MX to Mazatlan at least once a month. I took the usual precautions ie face mask, social distancing, staying away from crowds as much as I could. Regardless, I developed very mild symptoms in May of headache, chills, fever (only 99.8), nasel congestion/runny nose, sweating, insomnia, all mild by the way and lasted about 6 days. All symptoms very mild and I wrote it off as just a seasonal cold or flu. Then 3 days ago got the same symptoms again but now mild to moderate symptoms. I tested positive for Covid yesterday. Though so much more needs to be learned from about this virus and the effect of the vaccinations on the virus, my doctor says there is no doubt that without the vaccine I would be in the hospital now fighting for my life. I tend to agree, as I concentrate on the symptoms it just seemed that the virus was just trying so hard to move down from my nasel passages to my throat and then chest but was blocked by the vaccine. My doctor and I discussed my symptoms in May and then recently what I am experiencing now and he thinks there is a chance I was infected with two different variants but just speculating. I probably will share my experiences with Phizer just to see if they might learn something or even recommend a booster. Just in case you are wondering, I believe that I was infected both times on the flight to or from Mexico. Jam packed, shoulder to shoulder. Finally the reason for this post is for those that are on the fence whether to get or not get the vacs, do think it through carefully because death is so final.
